Hey guys. returning player here. so, i’ll just get right now to the beef. Why are most tier 5 mats 30-10 copper a piece now? Did they make precursors soulbound if crafted or forged from the mystic?

Check the prices of tier 1 to tier 3 junk. It shot up. In short, HoT weapons and armor changed the game on what materials are relevant and in demand.

Elder wood and mithril went up with precursor crafting demand.
The total costs to craft a rare are fairly close to the costs prior to HoT, but whereas it used to be the t5 fines that made up most of the cost, it is now the wood and mithril.

t6 fines except blood have also dropped a bit, but t6 dust has held up, so it is not really attractivel to promote t5.

T5 were dropping for quite a while as we got closer to HoT. People were unsure what would happen with the old legendary weapons so forging of precursors slowed down quite a bit. Additionally, HoT and Halloween dropped at the same time. Halloween introduced a huge supply of T5 mats, in addition to the large influx of mats by returning players in HoT zones. Finally the new legendary weapons don’t have forgeable precursors again lowering the demand for T5 fine mats.

As such they are basically worthless now. As normal population resumes over the coming months the excess supply will dwindle but the demand is still pretty low and Halloween brought in an unbelievable amount of mats.

Guild hall upgrades also use a lot of mithril and elder wood.

One thing I’d like to add is that the current stat spreads in the PvE meta do not use any of the T6 materials other than Blood for Berserker’s; Assassin’s has some viability but not much. Sinister uses Charged Ambrite, and all of the HoT stat spreads which tend to be better than the vanilla stat spreads use the new HoT materials. Thus, nobody uses those T6 mats (other than Blood and to a lesser extent Claws) for armor, having a knock-on effect to T5 because of unfavorable material promotions.

Yeah, T5 mats have been worthless for a long time now, other than silk and the fine T5 mats. Most T6 mats are in the toilet also.

T5 is the only material that drops from fractal encryptions, in large quantity too. Would be nice if there was a chance to get T6 instead of T5, which would help the value of T5.

That’s the only big “new” source of mats that I can think of, and it’s a pretty big source too.

As folks have mentioned, the game has new faucets for T5 mats and not any new sinks of note. One of the primary sinks got hammered by the announcement and then the introduction of the collection system for obtaining precursors.

Lower demand, higher supply → price drop.
