Tips vs Gold
When I was playing GW1, people made money doing Droknar Runs from Beacon’s Perch and usually didn’t do that for free. Similarly, there were some dungeons in Eye of the North which were being speed run for a fee and UW groups which were similar . . .
And I see more people doing free stuff for GW2 like donating siege to commanders or offering gold for upgrades to WvW objectives during a tense week. There was a guild which invited me into it solely because they were doing bounties and would sign up random people for a time so they could experience it.
It’s the same as GW1 as far as the players’ good manners are concerned.
. . . so long as you do NOT bring up whether you supported Ellen or Evon.

Idk, but I do feel people are more materialism, i never got a kick in gw1 in 5000 hours play, but gw2… maybe it’s just people are changing not the game.

Could be the average player isn’t as courteous, or could be that the loudest and most obnoxious ones stand out more since everyone else is pretty much quieter about it.

And I do feel gw1 story is a lot better, “Betrayal, lies, justice, legends, choice, conflict, responsibility” let me feel like a hero, let me surprised.
But gw2… Why Dragon Matters?
“We’d rather kick you at FOTM last boss because we have another guildie wanna come.”
Nothing to do with materialism unless they did that to sell a place at FoTM last boss. In any case this is a reportable offense.
Dungeon sellers and scrubs belong to one another.
I dont like people who insta kick DCers as well – you think that you can get players instantly and not waste any time? Just plain obnoxious.
There were always people charging for their services in Guild Wars 1, from the gate monkeys in Pre to the Drox Runners, to runners in most mission outposts, to the black widow spider runs in UW, to the people who ferried people in Kamadan to the Consolate Docks, to the people who did the last 2 minute Shiro battle. Dungeon runs were common too.
I’ve found plenty of nice people to help me out in Guild Wars 2. They’re called my guild.
I’ve had people port me to tops of puzzles for free in Guild Wars 2 and I paid for Droknar’s run and a couple of dungeons in Guild Wars 1. I’m not seeing any difference in materialism between the 2 games. If it’s fairly easy it’s probably free. If it’s hard and takes time, you probably have to pay.
I dont think there is much difference between the players in gw1 and gw2.
I find most of the community in gw2 very helpfull.
if people want to pay to have someone else do something for them
by all means, go for it
In gw1 you could buy runs to outposts, runs through dungeons,
spider runs in uw (for wich some people asked a big bag of money)
but if you met the right people, you could get it for free to sometimes.
I wasnt a runner in the true sense back then, but got of several free drok runs for people. Ascelon -> la i did for free when in the mood, and spider runs in uw to.
I like to make others happy 8-)
