OK, so I’ve dealt with ANet RNG for a long time. I guess for the most part I’m used to it. Resigned perhaps. But now I’m unhappy. Very unhappy. My story:

I HATE Dry Top. Detest it. But I’ve gone through there quite a bit for LS, etc. Anyway, so I get an amber thingy. I trade it and decide to make a staff. OMG, then I have to farm Dry Top FOREVER to get 400 geodes to buy the kitten recipe. Ok, whatever. I did it… hated it the entire time but did it. So I finally think YAY I can make my staff. But what..wait? I need a Nomad’s Orichalcum Imbued Inscription, account bound on acquire, so cannot buy of TP. I’ve played in Dry Top ALOT and never seen one of these. So now, I would be stuck YET AGAIN having to farm an area I hate to try and get YET ANOTHER RNG piece of kittening kitten.

I’ve had it. No ambrite weapons for me. I’m deleting it all. What a complete waste of time. Thanks ANet. I’d like to tell you how I really feel but I don’t need the infraction.

Check the “Acquisition” section.

Just to clarify for you: The Nomad’s inscription isn’t a drop. You have to buy the recipe from the vendors. 50 geodes and 1g. And since you’re making a staff, you’d need to use that recipe on an artificing character.

So, hopefully you didn’t actually just rage-delete everything over a misunderstanding.

lol… ok, color me kitten … Ahahahaaaa. I had no idea this was yet another recipe that was purchased. Would be nice if there was something IN GAME that pointed you to how to get stuff.

Um… you buy the inscription from the Dry Top merchants. It’s not a drop.

You said that you purchased the staff recipe, right? Then wouldn’t you have had to have gone to the exact same vendor that sells the inscription recipe?

Also, /wiki opens up the wiki. Putting /wiki Orichalcum Imbued Inscription would take you right to the page for it.

I did not look at every recipe the vendor has. When I went to craft the staff, I moused over the inscription and it just says “account bound on acquire”. I assumed then it was a drop. I didn’t check the wiki. BTW the wiki says you can get them from chests in Dry Top as well, so I was half right :p

Jeez people, no reason to get rude about stuff. Take a breath maybe.

I don’t know….some people enjoy that stuff. I don’t. So I don’t play those parts where I have to farm stuff like crazy…..there are too many other parts of the game that are much more enjoyable to me.

Bad content is subjective at best. I for one like most of the content, although I don’t much care for Aetherpath but thats neither here nor there.

No, the wiki says nomad’s weapon recipes are from chests. The inscription is not.

Not being rude, just that the information is readily available, and the recipe was, technically, right under your nose, whether you saw it or not.

The wiki says the WEAPON recipes (for just the Nomad weapons, not the amber ones) can be found in chests, not the inscription recipe.

Tell me about it… I’ve been farming chests in Dry Top for days and haven’t seen a single carapace boot box. So tired of Anet’s RNG…

I dont think RNG is the right title.

You hate farming, not the rng.

I’m the same, I can’t stand the idea of having to wait days, and weeks until I have all the items required for something. I rather work towards having the money and buy that stuff from other people. Call me lazy.

I don’t mind Dry Top’s RNG, I just wish these unidentified fossils weren’t account bound. I don’t like how the ambrite weapons look and have no plans on making them, yet I’m sitting on seven fossils because it seems like a shame to toss them when I would rather give them to people who want it.

Because Anet in their decimated wisdom have decided to pander to the Gods of Gaming Metrics, and one of those metrics must be “Participation in Newly Released Content”.

In order to game their own metrics Anet has built map specific currencies and map specific vendors for sort-of-interesting skins and more recently sort-of-interesting stat combinations that you just can’t get anywhere else.

There are people in Dry Tops? Last time i went there everyone was in Silver Wastes.

In my 2500 hours I couldn’t help to notice that RNG loves slightly more those who buy gems with money.

Wasn’t it more that they again listened to “the community” that always praises
the good old days of GW1 where thy farmed one specific zone for 8 years just
because of a random drop ?

The same as the new way to aquire traits because it was so great to hunt skills in GW1.

I wait for the day they remove jumping because it was so great in GW1 not to jump.
People had fun in GW1 for 8 years because there was no jumping.

RNG is always terrible. Imagine if the olympics or any other sport relied on RNG for their medals and trophies.
