Pretty much :P
Well personally I’d prefer some exploration again (events chains, story, hearts, jumping puzzles, secret locations etc.), currently with the meta-maps (like dry top and silverwastes) there’s no exploration or story, just the meta (they’re also kinda small). It’s not a bad thing of course, a lot of players seem to prefer these sorts of maps, while seeing the exploration maps as something to grind through once maybe twice (got the feeling met.9653 is one of those players). Unfortunately beyond the meta these maps offer little substance and someone like myself (I’m casual) who prefers novel experience over grind and repetition, it’s not really that engaging.
I think ANets goal is engagement, and having group (or zerg as OP calls it) meta-events allows for more engagement. The goal is to keep people playing and zerg is a way of doing that, in the same way that raiding is a way of doing that in other MMOs.

Sounds like another Southsun. Could do with a dungeon to spark some form of life instead of visiting good ole’ Karka Queen every once in a while.

But seriously though, there needs to be some form of content that would keep bringing players back into that zone/map if it were merely hearts/vistas etc.. Otherwise as the above poster already stated: another dead zone.

I for one would love this.

I’m glad that we’re getting new zones, and all. It’s fun to be exploring an entire new region – the Maguuma Wastes.

But so far all of the maps have been level 80, and very unlike the other maps. I mean, even Orr has only one level 80 map.

Still though, I have to give them props for the mix between unique gameplay and explorability. Dry Top and Silverwastes are both pretty fantastic looking.

Sadly, I think this sorta thing may be expansion only content…

For the toast!

But isn’t that what the LS is supposed to fulfill? The time to complete the LS and all achievements is the same if not more than if the zone simply had hearts/SPs/WPs/POIs.

I do exploration solo anyway. The new map has POIs and Vistas doesn’kitten

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

Usually, the only time there are zergs are A) when there is a new content (via living story or Festival) or
B) for Farming.
Go onto any other open world map that does not have one of the above and you are pretty much soloing all the hearts, POIs and vistas.

I thought I had a similar issue with Dry Top. I don’t care much for Jumping Puzzles and a lot of that map is exactly that. I don’t think that is the issue though. I think the issue is variety. This game as a whole is many things and there are maps that encompass so much more than what these two new, but shallow(albeit well-designed, gorgeous)maps are.

The older maps have mini-dungeons, dungeons, jumping puzzles, completion rewards, hearts, story, etc. These new maps lack a lot of that and also lack the size of older maps. They seem to be “lite-maps” with a theme and I think that hurts them overall.

I think a really good idea would be rewards for clearing them. Sure, they won’t add to map completion, but what about adding rewards for completing them? I don’t think that can hurt replayability.

I like this map a lot because it doesn’t put the onus on the players to all be in one place. It makes the map work together in separate locations. But it isn’t by any means a complete map when compared to the original maps. Also, only getting one portion of a new map every two weeks is rough, especially when the new portions aren’t as feature rich as older maps were at release.

How is SW a zerg map? Imo, it does quiet a good job at spreading players across the map. And in general DT and SW introduced some solid mechanics to make maps interesting after completion, if at least 30-40% of the rest of GW2 maps had those mechanics (tiers, unique skins, some high end meta events requiring map wide org. etc.) we would have quiet a different and better game right now. And i believe less people would complain about lack of end game etc.
