I only Written this to Anet staff to consider. could be banned this post shortly.
(first of all english is not my first language. sorry for the wording and grammar)

i played gw2 since launch. its great game, better then gw1. lots of things can play with.

but by now we all complain about: NO expansion, NO new weapon, NO new class, etc

Anet plz face to true. you are LOSSING LOTS of PLAYERS

evey company here exist for money making,
then how online game make money?
from players, the way gw2 make money:
- people purchase gw2 game
-player buy item, gem from TP

you need players to keep your company survive:

how this keep running? PLAYERS. if you loss players. you LOSS MONEY simple is that.
you can keep having new players. but an online game after 2 years how to compare to the NEW???

the reason LOSING player. Loss interested for the game, lots of player let because the game its NOTHING CHANGE, BORING. etc

to me: Anet only Targeting Living Story, PvP. keep balancing class. fixing bug for dungeon ATM

lots of people said Living story is expansion already
Is it really? i dont think So.
for my opinion: pvp and LS its leading you to the end of road

let me do some calculating :
lets consider original gw2 game as 100%
every 2~4 weeks new Living story come out. have 5%~10% extra stuff:
because LIVING STORY its an continue happen event. so that mean its ON TOP OF EACH OTHER.(keep replacing) thats what will become as today. less then 120% extra stuff from the original game: (thats keep player getting boring)

if you consider launch expansion in the first place like gw1. once a year,
have extra map, weapon, class. etc have 50% more like the original
after 2 years gw2 will be 200% bigger.

in this case players wont left as many as now.
please think about it. stop spending your resource on your LS. make the expansion.

a really good example its WOW. after all these year. how many expansion they launch. how many % their game bigger then the original? 300%? they may still losing players. but as i see they still survive after all these years.

i dont know how anet operate, and what finance situation is. maybe still making huge profit. this is only me as player point of view.

Perhaps, Heart of Thorns will assuage your concerns.

Timing is everyone OP. This post, at this moment has no real traction since it seems an expansion, or something like an expansion, is about to be announced.

Shhhhh, don’t tell him. Then when ANet announces the expac next week he’ll be all like SEE! ANEt is the smart, they listen to ME!

I can’t really imagine a universe in which ArenaNet hadn’t already thought about this many times.

Hoping HoT is an actual expansion with a new continent (Cantha? Elona?) with new features. Would bring a ton more players back to the game, just like WoW did with WoD. Great for revenue.

Hoping that HoT isn’t a living story/LS season and all this hype was for nothing.

same hero’s
same weapon ( only weapon different, its look like a spear on sylvari hand at 1:17)
and the logo at last got spiky. just look like those plant in LS

So an expansion only counts if it completely disregard the ongoing story and starts with a completely new set of heroes, a completely new story and completely new weapons..?

I am not really sure how much experience you have with games overall, but that is usually not the case when it comes to expansions.

Even if Anet said yes and started working on an expansion today it would take a couple of years before it came out.

Though I agree with your points, the timing makes you look ungrateful towards Anet. They did announce HoT, after all. I just hope it’s an expansion this time, not more of this LS tripe.

It’s… dreary and depressing.

Anet ran GW 1 for years. Years. That game system not so far apart from GW 2 in the way Anet makes their money. Breaking all this down in to detail is certainly something I have never given any thought to when I play this game and I am pretty sure many others never gave thought to it either.

Why?

Cause we’re too busy enjoying the game.

But on a regular basis I come here to see someone posting a economic threat about all the things they dislike about the way Anet runs this game.

I don’t get it.

It’s a game. Enjoy it.

From my personal experience in 14 years of MMOs, if any one particular player can not be pleased, no matter what the game company producers, they never sit in one spot for long. I even have several friends in GW 2 that cut in and out of my life cause when they get bored, they move on to another game, yet eventually, they always return.

I see no evidence that ArenaNet is losing players so rapidly that it is threatening the longevity of this game.

For GW 2 and it’s elder: GW 1 being a MMO to play with no monthly fees, I think this game is fantastic. I couldn’t ask for anything more than that. Any money that I do sink into this game is only sunk into it by choice, not by force.

I really wish some people would stop holding ridiculously high standards on their chosen MMOs. To say it’s redundant would be a severe understatement.

You’re right… and after discovering this game’s forum and being a veteran visitor of it for 2 years, I’m rather glad they didn’t have one.

i have no idea how Anet gona make their expansion…..IF do have one.
but i found Gw1’s expansion works really well

No one knows except Anet. You’ll just have to wait until the 24th like the rest of us.

@ JUN YANG: I am affected by the hype, I beleave that there is an expansion comming. But sure I will not tear down the world if it’s not, I am happy for cool new features and more Living Stories. Becouse that is why I play games, for entertainment and for me that is mostly the story.
If now there isn’t an expansion for GW2 announced I think that will take a toll on GW2 but I still beleave (Listen I beleave, it is my opinion) that GW2 will live on alot longer and will have a great playerbase.
So my whole point with this is, how the fudge can you claim that the game is loosing players? I would like to see real numbers on this, not just speculations from revenues or what you yourself have seen on the worldmap or noticed the lack of players in Lions Arch.

I think Anet have done a good job, LS chapters could have been a little longer and a little more Voiced over story would have been nice but the last Living Story has been a realy good story with neat Zones, good features and also som bad features. Poeple love the game people hate the game, it would call for a miracle to make everyone enjoy this game, so it doesn’t matter what they do people will still leave the game even if there is to come an expansion. But ofcourse for a while an expansion will make more people play GW2 for a few weeks maby but then we are back on square one.

Lets just be realistic here. Even if HoT is an expansion, there is no way it would unlock Cantha or Elona. We are fighting against Mordremoth. So there wouldn’t be any reason to go to those continents. (at least not the whole continent).

I flip-flop between my thoughts on this. Somedays I agree with you. Some people can make an impressive case for why official forums shouldn’t be there for people like that.

But then at face value, you have to realize it’s not the forums in of themselves that lead to that. It’s the user that is the problem.

The forums are techwise solid. It’s a good setup.

With regards to the greater community minus the toxic element of some of the users, others are brilliant.

You can glean a great deal of wisdom and understanding on an endless variety of topics regarding the game. Among other things.

The community as a whole is very open and willing to help and share knowledge with others. That speaks much for the games community.

At the moment, I’m quite glad for the official forums. For every one gaslighting troll and pessimist kittenhat, there’s at least a Tobias and a Vayne to go with them.

If I could suggest anything for the forums, it would be a block feature to hide users I’m not fond of.

It would give the users a lot more control over who they choose to deal with on the forums.

It’d help the mods. It’d force the more toxic elements of the community to try a little harder or risk being ignored by their peers.

I love how players talking for themselves always somehow have the idea that their idea’s are supported by “Everyone”
