Domestic authority?
These forums are basically just for publicity. Serious discussions will have to take place on unofficial forums I’m afraid.
Why is it that you guys are allowed to delete any topic that you don’t want to be discussed about? I am referring to my Unofficial Patch Note topic which was deleted without a valid reason.
Isn’t it out right as YOUR customer to voice what we want. Yes there are guideline say whats right and whats wrong but deleting a topic without provide a reason for it. Where is our freedom of speech when you will just delete the topic.
Just to say, freedom of speech is political only. That is, it refers to how the government handles speech in a society. You have no freedom of speech when talking to a business. In this case they can make any rules regarding speech that they like. Now that speech may still be regulated by law, for example if someone advocates hate crimes. In which case the government can get involved. But ANet can shut down any post that it wants and it’s perfectly fine with the law.

Hi everyone!
First, we would like to remind you all of the forum CoC – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/rules -. Please, whenever posting stick to what it says, as in this case, remember that it is not allowed to post trying to grab the attention of the Devs, Anet or any of its employees – as in, adding names or Anet to the thread title.
The moderation team is here for a reason, and if we see that some post does not comply with the forum CoC we have to remove it. It is not a matter of freedom of speech, you are free to say as you wish as long as it is done properly. It is a matter of politeness, of correction, of education if you wish. You can voice your concerns, your discontent or even your happiness here while adhering to the CoC.
The post you mention, if it was removed, I’m sure it was due to a reason. Also, please remember not to question the actions of the community team. If you think the actions taken by any mod were not right, please feel free to write to forums@arena.net and explain what happened, but never post about it or discuss about it, because it will most likely derail and turn the thread unusable.
For any other questions you might have, please feel free to write and contact us.
Thanks for your understanding.

Domestic authority?
No matter what the CC said, this is the actual answer. You can speak freely, but not in my house, where I rule. The same situation occurs on a website or forum where the host has “domestic authority”. This is well tested, at least in US courts.
If you want to “speak freely”, you are free to go anywhere else and speak your mind, so long as the host permits. You could also become your own host and run your own website or forum.
Good luck gaining an audience.
Why is it that you guys are allowed to delete any topic that you don’t want to be discussed about?
Because if they ignore things they might disappear. At the least they can claim plausible deniability.

There are various reasons. The one that I think would apply here is that those notes are still a work in progress. Which means they can be modified at any minute before they are released. If people see a change and are counting on it and it gets modified then there is forum outrage. If people see something that they don’t like, there is forum outrage. And it might be something that ANet is still tinkering with and trying to get it right. Something that is not yet ready for release. Either way unfinished, unpolished notes on POSSIBLE future changes can cause unnecessary forum QQ.
Freedom of speech? You agreed to have it lowered by accepting the terms of joining this forum.
You brought it to the attention of people who don’t use reddit like myself and I thank you for that, however why continue to worry about it. Community will tell one another of the reddit post and I’m sure the reddit post is still there with the leaked information for everyone to view.

That rule makes no sense whatsoever these forums are here to also suggest changes in the game so what if the company which is why we play this is mentioned when a suggestion is made. What are you afraid of? How can putting the company name or the Devs not individual names cause any problems. People want you to see these so you take them seriously. Fine you do not want The company name in your forum which in my opinion is very weak minded. You should be honored that someone uses your name in these forums. That is one rule that should change to not using employees names only. Devs is not a name it is a bunch of people that take suggestions on new ideas from the players.

I was not questioning the actions of the community team I was questioning a rule to this forum. One that needs to be changed nothing more nothing less in fact I see the company name all over the place in these forums now why are those posts not gone? (now that is questioning the actions of the community team)
The thread is about why they took this persons post out and it was because of a lame rule about having no real contact with our games company name or the devs. You can’t even mention them supposedly. Again a lame rule that should be changed.
To sum it up.
Shut up and play your game
Hi again everyone,
Not because there is Anet or a Dev/Staff member name in a post it has to be deleted, that is why it was stated that you should not try to grab the attention of the mentioned individuals. It is ok to post “Thanks, Anet” per instance or “Dev XXXX stream on SoTG”. Those are not trying to call the attention of the staff members. On the other hand, threads like this “To the forum Devs” “To Anet” To the Mods” are not allowed. Simply because while we understand that you want the attention your post deserves, it is unfair to other threads.
But these are the rules and the forums are not the place to contest them or discuss them. For any suggestions on the matter, please contact forums@arena.net.
Thanks for your understanding.
