on any server.
1.) what made you choose and stay on the server you’re on?(other than friends)
2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?
3.) wvw benefits your dungeon runs, do you not agree that helping us get the buffs you benefit from is the right thing to do?
4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i farm maybe 2 hours a week and that’s a 7g profit each week i’m sorry but i can’t see that as valid. to each their own maybe)
5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Legendary?
6.) to my GOM bros specifically, some of the PvE guilds on our server are upwards of 300+(and active), can you grasp how much of a difference just 1/10 of your guild members would make if they were active in wvw daily?
7.) World Vs. World is one of(probably the) best way for your guild to not only get recognition, but respect. if your guild is influential enough here…you get the point.
Something i’ve realized, that the fact of the matter is, PvE heavy servers will stay that way until WvW’s incentives surpass PvE’s. That or thief gets nerfed hardcore.
However, if open world pvp were introduced…the tune might change quickly.
k, gripe over.

-Culling makes WvW an awful experience
-Running in circles with the occasional stop to hit on a door and building a ram is not really exciting
-Fighting for an arbitray scoreboard in an instanced nothingness is boring.

That is my biggest issue really. Not having factions is a good thing in most cases, but it’s awful and boring for pvp. You fight against people who’re the exact same as you, over a place that is “somewhere” and for no reason.

apparently fighting a risen with no real intelligence is more fun. problem with the logic of your second point is without wvw buffs, your MF, healing power, HP, etc. is significantly lower. especially if you have a lot already. actually i agree with your last point, having no factions in a game called Guild Wars is kind of…odd. especially in the presence of in-game player joined factions.

Guilds and friends “are” a valid reason. If their guild chooses a home server, their influence gets stacked on that server. To be in that guild in a different server would be purely for mingling purposes. Alot of people don’t have fun WvW’ing or pvping (I love pvp and killing people). It’s just not everyone’s cup of tea. Trying to tell anyone that their opinion of what they enjoy is invalid is just inconsiderate and immature.

I’m going to give you my perspective of WvW.
One simple reason that I do not like WvW: WvW is infested w/ “children” (it’s more about an issue of mental than age). In PvE, we don’t have to deal w/ them because anyone can get a group of 3 or 4 players to play with and add a couple more to do dungeons. I want to play the game pleasantly. Keyword: pleasantly. You want challenge? easy. Run naked, soloing, take inexperienced underleveled players to tough dungeons.
In WvW, it’s a much demanded teamwork territory wise and teamwork w/ “children” is an horrible experience (at least w/ me). And you need more than just 3,4 players to defend a territory especially against zerg group. It’s not about cost or about anything else. It’s about the players in WvW. That doesn’t mean in WvW there are not any present of nice guilds but it’s seem they are more or less a rarity than a norm. Who would want to join a guild just to find out how nice they are?

In addition to loflux comment above, your question #5 already indicates the mentality of WvW players.

People are too serious of their knowledge.

Don’t get me wrong, i really like pvp. I played a ton on SP during the old UO times, i loved the open pvp in WoW when it was still around; bashing chaos warriors in Praag was good fun aswell.
But the WvW in GW2 bores me to no end, it’s a deathmatch blown up in proportion.

A risen is obviously as dumb as a rock, the dungeons are a bit harder though than an overworld mob, so that is not really a valid comparison.

And honestly, the WvW buffs don’t matter at all, nobody really cares and says “oh no, we can’t do the dungeon right now cause we’re missing 2% MF from the WvW buffs!”.

I understand your frustration though, my own server is pretty terrible in WvW aswell. I wish you could still change homeworlds, just with a bigger timer on it.
Charging 20 dollars/euros so a computer will flip a switch in a database is pretty ridiculous.

obviously the friends issue from my perspective is invalid now because transfers aren’t free. however dungeons still give a crapton of influence especially if the whole guild does them hourly.

My brain is telling me to ignore this but what the hell I’ll bite.

1. I always pick servers randomly when I start a game and I started after transfers stopped being free
2. Nothing, I don’t like PvP or your implication that I be required to do something I don’t like doing
3. You’re not spending hours in WvW just to be nice and give people dungeon buffs, you’re doing it because you like it, so no the non WvW playerbase doesn’t owe you anything(which is what you’re clearly implying)
4. See answer to question 2 and again saying people are “scared” out of WvW is childish
5. Can’t be bothered to grind for a legendary if I did I wouldn’t give a crap what some dude sitting at his computer thought of it either. If I ever make one it’d be for personal satisfaction

To finish this off you need to realize that not everyone is going to like doing the same things as you and whining about it only make you look like the typical “everyone should be forced to do PvP” jerks that populate every MMO forum out there.

Basically, I WvW’d exclusively outside of queue times the first month and was in Titan Alliance on Henge, when TA broke up I realized WvW was pointless because of the lack of progression and the terrible culling made it not fun, because I actually like reacting to what’s on my screen, not a bunch of invisible people.

So I transferred to almost exclusive PvE which was alot more fun for trying to figure out how to speed run dungeons and actually working with 4 other people where more twitch/skill showed through.

These days, my WvW basically involves PvPing in the EB Jump Puzzle which is actually a blast. The March update which both fixes culling and adds progression is a big step to getting people back into WvW.

1. How are guilds and friends not a valid reason? That’s the ONLY reason I play an MMO, single player games are made better (sorry, they are).

2. Nothing, I have absolutely no interest in PVP in any shape, I’ve played that game for years and nothing ever changes (talking PVPers and their attitudes – like your own clearly displays).

3. Not particularly, I could give a crap about the WvW buffs.

4. Repairs for PVP kills is definitely a turn off on an activity I’m already pretty opposed to, sure.

5. I don’t have a legendary yet, if that’s what you’re referring to. Not sure I’d bother with one honestly.

6. Obviously doesn’t apply to me, I’m on Yak’s Bend.

An interesting set of questions, it may bring out some different perspectives.
1.) Playing with RL friends, we have a small guild (under 10) and probably always will. We are on FC, one of the three worst servers in WvW, which I actually see as a good thing since our competition won’t be as skilled.
2.) I actually plan to do some WvW once I finish outfitting my first 80 and get a second character to 80 and outfitted so I have a couple of choices to switch between. I don’t get a lot of play time, I started in September 2012 and only have one 80 and one 50. I only expect one guildmate to be willing to play any kind of PvP, though.
3.) Dungeon runs? Our guild has gotten crushed any time we try dungeons, the three of us who are willing to tolerate that are trying to practice them with PUGs. I think I’ve done the most in our guild, at 11, lifetime, 7 of them successful. Given that we are evidently not skilled enough to survive against “dumb AI”, we clearly need to get better before we will have a chance against other players. I’m reading this forum for tips.
4.) I don’t think repair bills are nearly as much of a factor as just the discouraging issue of dying. A lot. See above note about dying in PvE. . .
5.) I know nobody who is going for a Legendary, the only people in my guild with Exotics in fact bought their gold from ANet. Nobody, including me, is fully outfitted yet in Exotics, and nobody has anything Ascended (one friend has done one Fractal).
6.) The total average person hours logged daily by our guild is probably under 8. That is not per person, that is total. We may not swing things the way you think. . .

I have dabbled in sPvP & WvW, but I still mostly qualify as PvE only. I’ll bite.

1) I chose it randomly out of the less populated US servers. I’ve stayed because I’ve made friends. Why would I move?

2) It would have to be fun, rewarding, or both, in order to be a good use of my time.

Zergs are not fun, as you can’t tell what value you are contributing. My lowly laptop goes bananas over zergs, and between the culling and FPS drop, it’s hard to tell what the heck is happening. Not fun. Being part of an overwhelming force? Not fun. Being overwhelmed? Not fun.

I have had fun tearing up supply camps as part of an organized 5-man guild team using voice comms. I have had fun defending a camp against slightly larger forces, manning siege. I’d do that again, but I only like that specific, limited part of WvW, and only because of the guild I was running with.

WvW tokens are, for me, harder to get and no more desirable than dungeon tokens. The reward just isn’t there to compensate for the overall lack of a good time. Incidently, dragon fights are are not fun either, but I suffer through them for the loot, at least occasionally.

3) I don’t really care about buffs, WvW or guild. They may fractionally make my rewards better, but they don’t make the game more fun or interesting. The notion that I’m going to spend my gaming time to help support WvW buffs that I don’t care about is ridiculous.

4) The repair bill doesn’t really factor into it. If it was fun, I wouldn’t care.

5) People pay attention to the opponent’s equipment skins in WvW? You’re pulling my leg, right? Well, maybe if your opponent had a legendary that left footprints, it would be easier to find them. I’d notice THAT, but it’s not exactly desirable.

6) I have zero sense that my playing or not playing WvW makes any material difference to anything.

1)decent wvw representation, even if near bottom, lions arch overflow almost always because a-net was kind enough so we can enter fractals only from there (wts overflow)
2)i only go to wvw to do my dailies, 10 frags, fast events (no more running like an idiot all over the map searching for random things to happen)
3)i don’t care, to much drama in wvw over thieves, i don’t want to be nerfed even more, we are still good at killing rabbits…
4)no, i rarely die, unless really asking for it, and if you believe me i got the everlasting achievement in wvw following a random commander(not to die for 500k experience or something like that), 1G is pocket money, 10s is nothing
5) who my kitten is that ? random crappy events are not my thing
and legendaries, i just don’t like any of them…it tried to like one….i failed…
6)there are no real advantages to go in wvw, guilds are not really encouraged to go
you make more money (gold) and influence in pve

What linchpin said in his first line as well but hey we are a subject of being curious so here goes.

1) Again like others have said. Friends are a valid reason but to go along with how you set this up i’ll say my own thing. I came to this game originally cause a friend in another mmo was going on about it. I planned to start my own guild at this point cause the first game i tried to lead in turned out horribly. So reason i’ve stayed on my server BP is cause I have built a great guild of people who get along with everything they do in game and most of all have fun doing it .

2) I have dabbled in wvw before so doesn’t take much to get me in, but because of duties as a Dungeon running guild leader I do not ever have time.

3) I know there are buffs but I don’t pay attention to them so yah null factor.

4) RepIr bill is a non- issue

5) Never wanted a Legendary so next question.

6) A 5th of my guild is active in wvw they play the game how they want and I do the same. So my joining or not joining is not really a issue least imo.

1) Yes, friends, if they all stopped playing so would I.
2) Nothing really, I don’t WvW much because it’s not my particular cup of tea. I dont consider myself a decent player vs player, it’s why I stick to PvE.
3)Me and my group of friends do just fine at 7pm on friday nights when WvW resets and all your hard earned buffs for us puny PvE’rs are lost. Do you think we wait around until wednesday/thursday evening before we go and do our dungeons, waiting anxiously for the WvW crew to get the buffs up before we go smashing bosses teeths in?
4) I dont have an issue with currency, I’m not rich, but I have enough to handdle more than 10- 15 deaths per night if it got that bad. Not to mention the 15 or so repair canisters.
5) 3 months ago I started playing. when I was level 60 I saw Twilight. I said to myself. “One day, that weapon will be mine.” 2 months later, Risen Priestess of Melandru lay dead on the cold floor, eyes glazed over, forever staring into the universe that is Twilight. She looked pretty impressed to me?
6) Doesn’t apply to me either, I’m on Fort Aspenwood. Either we curb stomp or we hold our own pretty well.

The influence obtained by guild members on other servers do not go to the guild’s “home server”. They go to the guild’s influence on the member’s server. Imagine the guild exists on every server and accumulates influence on every server that it’s members resides in. If guildies 1, 2, and 3 do a dungeon and all 3 are on a different server, their influence gets put into their respective servers. It is more beneficial to have everyone be on the same server than it is to spread out hence my previous statement regarding “mingling” purposes.

1.) Huh?? Friends aren’t a valid reason? What have you been drinking? Our guild carefully researched servers before the game went live. We looked at fan forums and looked to see what servers other guilds were joining and what kinds of communities those servers would likely have. We chose Sanctum of Rall as our home server and have been very happy with it. If I wanted to change servers I’d have to convince my 100+ member guild to change with me (good luck with that) or leave my friends and guild and strike out on my own.

2.) How about just treating a player with some respect rather than “Stupid noob. L2play you moron!”

3.) Our personal guild buffs also benefit dungeon runs.

4.) Um, not all of us have 200g in the bank.

5.) Not a valid argument. Personally, I don’t have a legendary but those that do show them off to impress the players around them whether those are others in the dungeon run, in WvW, sPvP or simply the others they pass while running thru Lion’s Arch.

6.) I’m sure they would make a difference and I’m also sure there are many players out there that would love WvW if they tried it once, but they haven’t tried it. That’s either because they truly have no interest in PvP or because PvP in other games has scared them away from it with all the trash talk.

If you really do want to generate more interest in WvW on your server then take the first step. Advertise in Lion’s Arch for a “beginner WvW night for noobs”. Explain that it will be a friendly tutorial to get players that are new to PvP interested. Contact some officers in the large PvE guilds on your server and see if they’ll help support your idea. Set up a voice server and have some patient PvP veterans available that evening to help explain things. You’ll likely find some folks that discover WvW is a lot more fun than they thought it would be and those players will in turn talk their friends into joining them.

Lion’s Arch is a much better place to show off legendaries and rare skins. In WvW, the rendering issues won’t even show your char to the enemy half the time, let alone what weapon you’re wielding.

Let me tell you, i’m also on GoM and i try to answer your questions as best as i can.

on any server.
1.) what made you choose and stay on the server you’re on?(guilds and friends aren’t a valid reason since transfers were free for four months)

A friend from another game recommended me this server so we could play together.

2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?

Nothing, i don’t like WvW, don’t get me wrong, i used to live in Heart of the Mists, but WvW is just not my thing.

3.) wvw benefits your dungeon runs, do you not agree that helping us get the buffs you benefit from is the right thing to do?

I run a lot of dungeons, and i didn’t even know we get buffs from WvW.

4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i know pve players with upwards of 200g, so the fact that they’re scared of a 10s repair bill is confusing)

That’s also a valid reason, the times i went to WvW, i had to spend a lot money on repairs due to being zerged everytime, so i find it ridiculous that i have to spend my hard earned gold on repairs due to being involved in 20 vs 4 fights.

5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Sunrise?

He won’t.

6.) to my GOM bros specifically, some of the PvE guilds on our server are upwards of 300+(and active), can you grasp how much of a difference just 1/10 of your guild members would make if they were active in wvw daily?

I PvP quite a bit in DC Universe Online. Though far from hardcore, I even played World of Warcraft for many years (currently on a break as of 3 months ago). I PvP’ed in WoW quite a bit. So, I do PvP and quite enjoy it.

I tried the WvWvW here in Guild Wars 2, and quite frankly I was never so bored in my life. Even taking on that “brainless MOB” is not as boring as WvWvW for me. A ton of running, a ton of boring set-up, and THEN some PvP combat. Battle over/structure taken, run to another area of the map, rinse, repeat. I don’t mind Structured PvP here in GW2, but for me: WvWvW is a great cure for insomnia.

There just isn’t anything ArenaNet could do at this stage to get me to do it anymore, outside of some sort of complete overhaul.

1.) what made you choose and stay on the server you’re on?
Our GW1 Alliance chose a server at random because we liked the name. After most left, we stayed on the server due to inertia. Now, it costs.

2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?
For me, at least, there is little that the players can do. I do not find WvW to be fun. I’ve been in it quite a few times, and it was always a matter of one side grossly outnumbering the other. If I were going to PvP, I’d prefer a game where the sides are evenly matched. Winning because of a gross numerical advantage is no more enjoyable than losing because of one.

3.) wvw benefits your dungeon runs, do you not agree that helping us get the buffs you benefit from is the right thing to do?
People who want to do the dungeons will do so regardless of the presence or absence of buffs. My server was top tier once, now on the losing end most of the time at the bottom. I can’t say I’ve even noticed the lack of buffs.

4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i know pve players with upwards of 200g, so the fact that they’re scared of a 10s repair bill is confusing)
Nope.

5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Sunrise?
I doubt she would if I had one. However, if any of the anonymous invaders/defenders are impressed, how would I know?

6.) Can you grasp how much of a difference just 1/10 of your guild members would make if they were active in wvw daily?
I’m not on your server, but I’ll respond as this is as applicable to other servers as your other questions. I am well aware how much difference numbers make in WvW. I suspect that the reason that people on your server and mine do not participate is because they find the game mode not to be fun.

1. Choosing a server in the first place seemed irrelevant to my interests. The only purpose I found was that Anet needed a way to split traffic. That’s understandable, but otherwise, I don’t care. As long as there are people around to play with.

2. Nothing. The way I see it; WvW is an overrated exaggeration of egomaniacal behavior. The place came off as a playground for people to extend their delusional and disrespectful attitude towards friendly competitive gameplay. It’s like all of the bad players who couldn’t take it in sPvP just decided to go to WvW. Think about it; WvW is incredibly unbalanced (from buffs to armor differences).

I’m actually stunned by all of the WvW videos on the webz; how astonishing everyone always appears to be. Their skills to cherry-pick fights where they were able to slaughter the poor group of mastered armor folk trying to map the place. Surely that’s evidence that something’s wrong in WvW.

3. I had no idea I got buffs from WvW. Interesting, but I still don’t care. =3

4. No.

5. I didn’t sign up to this amazing game so I could stroke my ego.

1 — My original server was Jade Quarry. I ended up choosing the server because the name was closely related to the Luxons from GW1. Ironically, in most MMOs I end up playing from day-1, I usually end up on a server that goes from full to dead in just a month-- Jade Quarry, on the other hand, must have been the go-to server for the hardcore of hardcores and became filled up real quick.

Eventually, I transferred to Sanctum of Rall because the people I knew from Jade Quarry no longer played (I guess when many of your members got their Legendaries, Dungeon Master titles, and completed most other content in the game, then they’ll get bored very fast … those were the kinds of people I hung around with during the first three months of this game). Originally, the JQ guild that offered me to join them claimed to be one of the top Kurzick alliances in GW1— but I would feel very out of place in that guild since I was Luxon so I declined.

I ended up on Sanctum because I found the name of the server to be moderately unique and named after a late fan of GW1. I also knew another community of people that was on that server … but they stopped playing a week after I transferred over so I ended up in a guild full of Redditors instead, whom are very interesting to hang around with and have been with them since.

2 — What would get me back in WvW? If I ever come around to either building another legendary and/or WvW becomes a requirement to complete the Monthly achievement. Otherwise, I don’t bother too much of it since I don’t find it as interesting as doing dungeons. Then again, in most MMOs I played, I usually end up doing dungeons because I just enjoy it. Most kinds of PvP tend to annoy me, regardless of which game I play. It’s not because I’m scared-- I’m not. After all, I managed to complete all the Monthlies, got 100% Exploration for two characters, and got enough tokens to purchase a Gift of Battle. I just don’t find WvW very amusing.

3 — It is true that the bonuses does affect dungeons, but I don’t find it wholly significant. If WvW bonuses made me moderately godlike, then I would probably end up scheduling all my dungeons on a Thursday night or Friday morning, before WvW scores reset; but I do dungeons just fine regardless of the day of the week.

4 — If repair bills scared me, then I wouldn’t be doing dungeons either. Otherwise, I find the repair bills to be rather tame in this game in comparison to some of the other MMOs I’ve played. For instance, my last MMO I played was TERA. If I died, one of my cruxes would break and I would down almost 100g, which would mostly be a day or two worth of farming. Back in my WoW days, I was the main tank for my 25-man guild. My repair bill on almost every progression night would be the reward amount of two or three daily quests. Repair bills in GW2 is actually very generous. I guess I should be fortunate that I don’t get down-leveled when I die, unlike in much more older MMOs.

5 — Beats me. I don’t have Sunrise so I cannot legitimately answer that question, but if it’s supposed to be a riddle, then I suck at riddles. Sorry.

Attached is my server’s current WvW score. Yes, we’re currently falling behind; but honestly, I don’t really care too much about it. As long my guild mates are happy with what they’re doing at the moment, which at the time of this post, many of them appear to be scouting the world for boss events like the dragons, temples, and Shadow Behemoth, then I don’t mind. WvW scores don’t need to dictate their happiness.

Lets be honest, gw1 had very nice pvp. The different skills allowed you to make some stuff up and if you were better than someone it showed.

PvP in Gw2 is a joke, its sooo boring and everyone is using the same skills becaues lets face it, theres not much to choose from. I love running around with a guard or war while theres 3-4 theifs fully stealthed attacking me. How do you deal with this? well you roll a theif of course!

Then theres zergs, you run around with a bunch of other people, only you can’t see 90% of them due to the kitten culling this game has, you spend 10 minutes killing a door (which is so much more fun then killing a risin btw) and you move on to the next one, and while your doing that a zerg from the oppisite team comes and attacks the door that is now your door for 10 minutes and then it is now their door so you go back and spend 10 more minutes to kill that door again… FUN!

WvW would be 100x better if they made the map a long rectangle shape and had walls that moved slowly towards each other forcing each side to have to engage in combat rather then attacking at 1200 and running away/stealthing when getting attacked.

Did i mention the culling in this game is horrible? because its really horrible, many a times i’ve ran into what i thought was nothing only to die from an invisible zerg.

This thread looks like it belongs in the WvW forum, not dungeon forum. Secondly, I don’t find WvW fun. Only reason I tried it was for 100% map completion, and after I couldn’t do that, I decided not to bother with it.

on any server.
1.) what made you choose and stay on the server you’re on?(guilds and friends aren’t a valid reason since transfers were free for four months)
low population, exactly what make us bad at WWW
2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?

its not the www players its the system. it feels as a zerg of individual lemmings running after a blue mark on the map. i know that in WWW oriented guilds its different, but for casual WWWer this is how it feels, also some morons in map chat who give stupid orders… also the badges drop less than 1 on 10 kills, silly. you get more badges jumping on rocks than from killing players or conquering a fort.
though taking a keep or defending tower is fun

3.) wvw benefits your dungeon runs, do you not agree that helping us get the buffs you benefit from is the right thing to do?
not enough reward for big effort
4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i know pve players with upwards of 200g, so the fact that they’re scared of a 10s repair bill is confusing)
dungeon wipe repair bill is higher, so no
5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Sunrise?
don’t have a legendary and probably never will
6.) to my GOM bros specifically, some of the PvE guilds on our server are upwards of 300+(and active), can you grasp how much of a difference just 1/10 of your guild members would make if they were active in wvw daily?

want more fodder on WWW maps? add t6 nodes spawns around towers that held for more than two hours, each defeated enemy player should reward 50% badge, not 10% badge, squad structure visible for ALL the squad not just the squad leader, organized “break out” event, how many time i went to WWW, and waited near the NPC for fifteen minutes stuck at 2/10 seeing dozens of players just passing by leaving the event inactive, etc…

EDIT:
you see only people who are a spit distance from you.
if enemy zerg is approaching, the only clue is the animations of dead critters (ambients) in the horizon…

1.) what made you choose and stay on the server you’re on?(guilds and friends aren’t a valid reason since transfers were free for four months)

Actually its the server with most players from italy, thus we are there.

2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?

WWW was defined “casual pvp”, but actually seems players are way too concerned of winning at ANY cost (even playing when nobody do..for example)
Also i m tired to get pve nerfs due to random www players complaining…..so i don t join what i think will be destructive for PvE players.

Maybe removing points etc.

3.) wvw benefits your dungeon runs, do you not agree that helping us get the buffs you benefit from is the right thing to do?

I find a bad idea to mix pve and www, we are already forced to do things we don t like, add Others and the only thing they’ll get will be players leaving the game.

Also overflows says it doesn t benefit anything …..

4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i know pve players with upwards of 200g, so the fact that they’re scared of a 10s repair bill is confusing)

Maybe also effectively the lack of income rather than bills…..this game is turning into quite a grind……www comes last after dailies, daily fotms, guild missions etc etc etc.

5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Sunrise?

i don t care <.< i’ll need a legendary for the tier….but for the rest i use whatever i like for ex lvl 70 skins on exo armors.

6.) to my GOM bros specifically, some of the PvE guilds on our server are upwards of 300+(and active), can you grasp how much of a difference just 1/10 of your guild members would make if they were active in wvw daily?

Seems you don t grasp the concept of www as casual pvp then….

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Guilds and friends were my reason. Take it or leave it.

2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?
If it gave equal or better rewards in the time spent compared to PvE dungeons, I’d probably join in.

3.) wvw benefits your dungeon runs, do you not agree that helping us get the buffs you benefit from is the right thing to do?
That’s a game design issue. I could care less that the buffs exist.

4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i know pve players with upwards of 200g, so the fact that they’re scared of a 10s repair bill is confusing)
No, it’s a number of things. To name a few: I’m tired of the pointless trash talk between allied players and sometimes commanders. I’m not a fan of zerg combat, which is why I enjoy tPvP and 5-man dungeons more — it focuses on the contribution of the individual player rather than the general “winning with larger numbers” style that WvW typically has.

5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Sunrise?
I like my shinies. I don’t care what anyone says.

You should be thankful less players are engaging in WvWvW stuff..otherwise the performance issues would only get worse for you…

When in a group combat I actually like to see what it is I am supposed to be attacking not just stand and hit 1,2,3,4,5 repetively and hope for the best.
Add to that the ridiculous use of things like Spikey fruits etc, ooh and the mindless zerg mentality that is the only real precursor for who wins…. not my cup of tea thks, I will just hop in to grap map completion stuff, farm a few nodes enroute then hop back out and leave you too it…. but enjoy

Nop. Couldn’t care less about the buffs. You should do something because you like doing it, not because of the goodies. And I don’t like doing WvW

I have very small Guild of close friends, who were all on the same server – so yes, I did stay on my home server (Gandara) for my guildies, and I don’t care if you think that’s a valid ‘excuse’ or not.

I don’t WvW (or hardly ever…I did get 100% map completion after all, and the WvW part really annoyed me) because I don’t enjoy competitive play. Also, I suck at PvP, so I don’t take much enjoyment of going into WvW and getting slaughtered by other players unless I run with a mob.

Friends and Guild both. You don’t get to tell me what reason is valid, that’s my choice. Don’t like it? Don’t ask.

2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?

Nothing, the mode doesn’t interest me in the least.

3.) wvw benefits your dungeon runs, do you not agree that helping us get the buffs you benefit from is the right thing to do?

Nope. I can take or leave the buffs. You play your way, I’ll play mine. If you object to me getting benefits from your ‘work’ then simply stop doing it.

4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i know pve players with upwards of 200g, so the fact that they’re scared of a 10s repair bill is confusing)

Most people dont’ have nearly that much money. While I could afford it, I’m unwilling to because it’s money spent on something I don’t care about.

5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Sunrise?

Why would anyone be impressed by Sunrise? Legendary weapons just signify that you spend tons of time playing. Some of us couldn’t care less about impressing others.

If you enjoy WvW then great.. play it and have fun, it’s simply not for everyone.

3) The WvW boni are negligible

So there. The current WvW system is just a meaningless back-and-forth zergfest. If Anet wants to include PvE people into this they’ll need something like a Darkness Falls equivalent.

Wanna know why? Simple.
———-> BiS Stats & Skins = PvE.
Could they get any of that in WvW?
Later on? Sure.
But why later on where they could get it now or way earlier via PvE?
This IS the main reason that most wont give a kitten about Defending their server.
And people, please dont give me all that bullcrraaap bout slight stats increase means nothing.
If it only took 1 gold for that lil stats increase, would you take it?

BUT..
Dont blame them. The game now had been re-design in this manner.
So who is to blame? You tell me >_>

1) When I first got the game I choose the server that my real life friends played on. When they quit the game in October (due to lack of content, gear progression and “fun” things that gave them a reason to play) I transferred to my guild’s main server. When I joined a different guild around a week before the free transfers were removed I changed to the server that I currently play on.
2) Currently there’s no reason for me to do wvw. There’s no sense of achievement to me, culling is annoying and it just seems like a zergfest in a game where the PvP is awful. We barely have any abilities and everything.
3) Dungeons are currently so ezmodo I’m more than certain I’ll be able to complete them, even if I don’t have my maximum health/regeneration boosted by 3%.
4) Repair bills in PvP are stupid imo but they aren’t the reason I don’t do wvw.
5) If I wanted attention I wouldn’t have made an underwater legendary.

I really doubt that you’ll convince more people into playing WvW by trying to guilt them, and trivializing their preferred play-style. Condescension rarely gets you anywhere.

I used to be a PvE-only player until a month or so ago – WvW was just dull for me, because zergs were the last thing I equate to “fun”. Lately, I’ve been running it more because of my guild. We get parties of 2-5 people and flip camps and ninja towers with other small groups. We still zerg occasionally, but it’s much more tolerable when there’s banter over teamspeak.
I think, while there are many PvEers that will just never like WvW, there are also those who don’t like it because they haven’t ran it with the right group of people. But goading them about it certainly won’t achieve anything. Might make them want to do WvW even less, if they perceive that OP’s attitude is the prevalent one.

While the OP doesn’t want to include the friends and guilds in the reason, I’d just say that I’ve been on the same server ever since.

1. I only recently started playing, and my friend was on my server, anvil rock.

2. It will take a LOT. I’m poor gold wise, and I just do not have the patience to farm gold or materials. PvP and WvW give almost 0 gold reward, or at least I can’t find anything that rewards you significantly. Plus I play a warrior, so I’m useless in sPvP and only useful as a single build in WvW.

3. Don’t know what you mean. What buffs? WvW has nothing to do with dungeon runs.

4. Repair bill is part of it.

You can’t force a playstyle on someone.

/thread

For more details, I occasionnally WvW because I like it, not because of bonuses and scores for which I couldn’t care less (being on Vizunah Square doesn’t help, I’ll give you that, but I honestly wish it wasn’t the case, we’ve been constantly green for… quite a few months now, effectively making map completion impossible).
But anyway, some people don’t like PvP, and out of these I’d say quite a lot are terrible at it so there’s no need to force them to do something they don’t want to do while more useful players are waiting in the queue. People will just do what they like to do, bonuses and score won’t magically transform pure PvEers into champions of WvW.

Let’s see.. I have 3 lvl80 and 1 lvl50 on Dragonbrand. 100% PvE.

1.) I’m in the UK and chose a US server because of communication issues on EU servers. I found a guild I love and I’m staying here.

2.) More than they have got. WvWvW is for tryhards, I’m not that great a player. It is a meaningless drudge fest with no real end product. Battles are almost always a case of more numbers, more win. Plus the vocal minority who seem to consider WvWvW some sort of duty.

3.) If it means suffering the above, I don’t care. I don’t ask WvWvW players to do it. I didn’t even know it affected PvE at all until you mentioned it.

4.) I choose not to craft or to farm. Yes, the repair bill is an issue. But not as much an issue as the sheer pointlessness of it all.

You won’t see me in WvWvW at all unless I am getting the Vistas/POIs/SPs, or on a run through to LA.

I chose Gunnar’s Hold when I started the game because my sis told me so (she had friends playing there). I swapped over to Aurora’s Glade because Gunnar’s Hold is a low population server, and I like high population servers. I also heard it had a nice community, and the friends of my sis also went to Aurora’s Glade.

2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?

I like joining WvW when there is a commander online, so I have someone to follow. If I don’t see an commander online I go back to PvE right away.
