More bosses should have boon-ripping. Or some boon-ripping that works on might/fury. Either by AoE or on-hit (with cleave!). Maybe then people stop stacking like headless chickens.

Have you ever seen headless chickens? I can guaranty you that they do not stack, at least not initially.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”

I think it would be nice if bosses gave themselves boons too, increase the desire for utility in groups.

Yes. Boon-stripping, occasional protection, blink, shield that halves critical damage. Very nice. Deny headless chicken meta.

If this would happen people would just stack more conditions instead and then you would ask for more condition removal. Then people would just go for more raw power. Then you would probably ask for more HP for the boss. So where would it end?

In the end we would have more QQ posts, “you nerfed Boons!”, “you nerfed conds!” and “you nerfed everything!”

Boons are in the game for a reason. If bosses fall too fast due to everyone stacking might perhaps the solution would be to have that boss cast more weakness to counter it/balance it out. I dunno but it seems a bit silly to make a certain boon or two worthless.

I do agree bosses SHOULD have special mechanics per each boss. Maybe the odd boss here or there can have might boon removal so people have to play differently per each boss. But certainly not every boss. That would just be another annoying defiant type cheap/lazy tactic.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

@Paulytnz (nice nick), yes I agree. The headless chickens are fierce; bosses should detect that behavior through in-game metrics to cull (and fry) those chickens. Obviously they should still be able to peck some bosses and mobs, but serious bosses should have real mechanics/strategies so their beaks would break apart if they don’t coordinate to overcome such mechanics.

I’m sure ANet doesn’t want player-hate mechanics (boon-stripping, boon conversion, self-condition to boon conversion). So what’s left are more control (like displayed in Verdant Brink), and more intelligently-placed AoEs and phasing mechanics. Chickens can only endure so much!
