What is the definition of success? PvE? PvP? WvW? Legendaries? Achievement points leader?

No, it’s considered a casual game for casual players with free bi monthly updates. The top of the game is more grindy than difficult. Hard core content is hopefully in developement and would be added slowly at some poing.

Easy to play or succeed at? Play is not too hard but there are a lot of little things new players might now know as things are not always intuitive. Check out the above thread if you need help. Dulfy.net is a good source for help also, as is the GW2 wiki (which you can access in game by typing /wiki into the chat box).

For anyone just starting to play GW2 the controls may take some getting used to. Many will not be completing some jump puzzles or vistas right from the beginning, however with time and practice maneuvering gets easier and easier.

I figure many have trouble at the start because they don’t dodge enough. Once you realize it’s an easy counter to a lot of mobs’ attacks, fighting random mobs will be a bit easier too. I remember encountering my first veteran mob thinking it wouldn’t be that hard, but it took me several minutes to kill it.

Like any new game you play it has a learning curve, but in my opinion GW2 is not as hard as some others. Dungeons, however, almost require you to be level 80 if you want to be effective and not die constantly (even if the dungeons level is much lower).

In short don’t rush it.

Too many people start playing. Rush to 80, then say there is nothing to do. Guild Wars 2 is a journey not a destination.

The most fun you may have in the game is the time that you stop and smell the roses.

This game isn’t about level 80.

If you aim for level 80 and think that is end game then I can say that this game is the easiest MMO in the World.

This game isn’t about leveling. Alot of my WoW-ish playing friends Started playing this game when it was released but quit one week later after they reached level 80 and said that was easy and now it is no point to keep on playing and they never returned.

Can you have a forum account but no game? Hmm… Anyway that question can’t be answered since it is very depending on who you ask, but I would say; it is enough blood and gore but not much.

The game is rated T for Blood, Mild Language, Use of Alcohol, Violence.

If blood and gore is what you are in to. In short you will not find it in this game. Mostly as there is little to no gore.

Depends on profession and game mode selected.

Anything with spammable AOE can stomp their way through PVE for the most part.

PVP on the other hand is all about spamming conditions and evades.

That is a understatement. The controls are classic MMORPG while the combat system is straight up action game.

Why ANet didn’t implement permanent mouselook and a crosshair puzzle me.

I think so. I’m surprised there are so many serious responses.

GW2 requires much more in the way of traditional gaming manual dexterity and situational awareness than any other MMO out there. If you’re someone who’s well versed in playing 3rd person action games, GW2 is very easy to play and find success in.

If you’re lacking that experience, or are more interested in the traditional group organization and tactical side standard MMO combat, you’re likely to find GW2 disappointing or hard to get into.

The content itself (“questing,” crafting, instance running, etc.) isn’t all that different from your standard MMO, it’s just different in how you actually participate in it.

The game is hard in places when you first experience them. GW2 is like a puzzle solving game. Once you figure out the puzzle it is super easy when you do it again and again and again and again and again.

GW2 pretty much takes the most easy kitten (baby cat) stuff from some 15yrs of mmo history and wraps it up into one game…. and adds more kittens. imo the selling point is the population focus, all working together to defend against the onslaught of kittens. I’m not sayin it’s a bad thing, just sayin…

I don’t ever remember seeing blood. And no gibs if that’s what you are asking. No dismembered limbs. You hit things, they fall down, they disappear.

Guildwars 2 is not too hard to play…

Tedious and Frustrating are far better words to describe Guildwars 2 game play in my opinion..

Tedious and simple PVE altough not bad just way to stale, drop are not based on mobs so if it is hard to procced in game it kinda depends what you do in game, mostly rewarded players are those o play puzles and weird component of the game like dayli activities, playing a tablet games is almost the same thing, catch 5 donuts on midle air during 30days and you get top tier gear, it is a weird game.

I don’t feel the game is to hard, but those dungeon’s, OMG are the dungeon’s something else. (Mind you I don’t mean all of them, just some.) I’ll admit that a game with no challenge at all is a boring game. But I don’t like the challenge offered to be borderline insane to the point where keyboards get broken, and lets face it, not all player’s level of difficulty is the same. What might be easy for one player might be a total nightmare for another which is why I think the dungeon’s should all be set to a medium difficulty. I know that this wouldn’t please everyone, but then again you can never please everyone with a single difficulty based game, but at least it would be a better difficulty balance over making it hard and people that like easy games have to step up 2 level of difficulty. With a medium difficulty it’s only 1 step in difficulty for both sides. (The difficulty thing is only for the dungeon’s the rest of the game is fine.) On a side note. I would like to see them stop double dipping the listing fee in the trading post. That’s about all I have to say on this for the time being.

My experience is that you need to be prepared to us google as much as you play.. There is so much that is not explained though the game, and poor itemisation information, requires using multiple internet sources to gain knowledge that should be available in the game. This stupidity leads things to being elitist. So in a nut shell yes it is casuaul as half the game is played on google, working out farming lists

Lord Vold and finkle, this post is nearly a year old. While feedback is always nice, I think this ship sailed a long long time ago.
