Q:
Too many patches to even play the game
Unless you login once every two weeks, you shouldn’t be getting a 200 MB update each time. You should try checking your PC status (memory, hard disk, possible spyware?) something is fishy there.
If your having trouble with these smaller updates then you will have to pretty much leave your computer on overnight downloading the patch on a larger patch. I guess you probably wouldn’t mind that if the updates didn’t come too often.
You are right though. There are a lot of people that do not have this problem anymore mainly due to the fact that prices for internet service are constantly getting cheaper. I know myself and a lot of friends have internet connections that are 30Mbps and a 200MB update takes a few seconds. Now I know not everyone can afford faster internet but the market is moving out on releasing products like this based around the average speed a person has and it shows that most people’s internet speeds are much higher than they used to be.
Eh…aside from any pc issues, why not just plan that load-time into your schedule instead of letting it frustrate you? I mean you could get home from school/work, log in the game, then go shower or eat while it loads. It’s odd it takes that long, but surely there are a few things you can take care of in your daily life. :P
I troll because I care
Their patching process is no different than GW1.
They make small changes when they can as to not put things off for a huge patch later on.
What? We get usually get a small patch once a week, of about 20-40mb. The larger patches happen once a month, maybe. Would you rather they not release new content, cause I don’t understand your request.
Other games have updates but not as frequent, and I don’t feel the patching is a hinderence to game play. I don’t mind patching a larger patch once in a while. But if its every 2-3 days, which is what it feels like in GW2, is getting me down. I play load of other games, but I am trying to play this one and it just feels like there’s a patch just about every time I login.
I chose it as an alternate to WoW to not be forced to fork every single month for a good RPG.
I’m on South African internet, its slow compared to Europe, Asia and America(and probably the most expensive data in the world)…weare far from the rest of the world geographically so our internet sucks….I guess I’m just gonna have to get hard wired internet and loose the wireless to be able to play….frequently.
It replaced a word I cant type on the forum with ‘kitten’ :P
Oh here we thought you had a fetish for juvenile felines.
I’d suggest doing the log on before you take your shower, or start it up as you’re heading to exercise or something, so you don’t notice the time it takes. You needn’t even be planning to play to get the updates.
Btw, there’s supposed to be a HUGE update tomorrow or something. Better get ready for it
The title was a bit alarming…..maybe I shouldn’t have made it so….angry.
