And why? Simple enough question, no?

Mine:

Favorite:

Harathi Hinterlands
I love the mix of variety of the map, the epic quest chains that do a great job of presenting the constantly shifting battles between the Seraph and the Centaurs, and the reasonable, but considerable difficulty of it all.

Iron Marches
Simply put, I think the Brand is gorgeous. One of the Branded maps had to work its way into my favorites and Iron Marches has a larger variety of foes, quests, and tasks than Blazeridge or Fields of Ruin.

Straits of Devastation
Yes, it’s a strange choice, I know. I just love the entire storyline here. No other map conveys the struggle of the Pact and the sheer scope of the war against Zhaitan better than this one does. It’s an epic, 3-prong invasion of Orr with tons to do. It’s only a shame that there is noone to do it all.

Least Favorite:

Dredgehaunt Cliffs
Oh, you knew it was coming. The reason is in the name – Dredge. Need I say more?

Brisban Wildlands
I’m not even entirely sure why this is the case, but I feel like I’m doing nothing on this map. The enemies don’t feel fun to fight and there are huge “empty” spaces that have no points, hearts, events, or anything really. The map feels horribly broken up, and I think a large part of that is the often uneventful Skritt city in the middle of it all.

Snowdren Drifts
Just feels like a whole lot of nothing. At least Lornar’s Pass has enemy and terrain variety to make it feel more… alive.

Special Case:

Southsun Cove
God, I want to love this zone so much. It’s beautiful. Really, really beautiful. But it’s completely lifeless between the lack of events, low rewards, low player participation, and overly difficult enemies.

Oh, I like this. Tough Choice.

Top 3:

Mount Maelstrom: I love most of Maguuma, and I love asura and Inquest. The jump puzzle’s amazing and the volcano’s a cool location. The place is lovely.

Metrica Province: Same reasons as above, plus the nostalgia of my first GW2 experience.

Fields of Ruin: I actually enjoy all of Ascalon way more than I thought (since I usually hate wasteland-type places) but the Fields get top vote because I enjoy Ebonhawke, generally like beating on ogres, and it was my first taste of the dragonbrand and the Branded, which I love. It also gets points for being off the beaten path.

Special call out to Timberline as #1 visual location. The place isn’t all that great overall, but I really just feel peaceful there.

Bottom 3:

Harathi Hinterlands: Ugh, centaurs. I don’t like them at all, and Harathi’s jam-packed with them. On the flipside, I do like the Ulgoth fight as one of the early epic events you run into.

Gendarran Fields: Also known as that place I always get confused with Harathi and Kessex Hills. Ugh, centaurs. I’d point out other things I dislike about the zone, but I’d probably accidentally list a bunch of Kessex things instead. Same diff.

Lornar’s Pass: This zone manages to beat out Kessex on my to-hate list because of snow. Snow themes wear me down a lot. I get plenty winter in real life, and I actually enjoy it in real life. But zones and zones of pure white ground just get to me. It’s visually boring. The reason I hate Lornar’s specifically, even though half of it is a nice pine forest area, is because 4 of my alts got funneled there at around the same time, so I just… can’t stand the place anymore. 30-40 is the worst level range for zone choices, in my opinion.

Favorites:

1. Mount Maelstrom. I love the volcano meta event, it’s well done, it requires a bit more coordination than just spamming one on the poor shatterer, and it’s awesome to do with 5-10 people. I adore Maguuma overall for the looks and the enemies, and the vanilla of course And CoE is a dungeon I really like^^
2.Frostgorge – I’ve farmed a lot there and still enjoy the map. Out of all the dragon fights, this one is my favourite. It is cold and snowy, but in a good way. I discovered tje jp in there by accident. The only thing I don’t like there are the dredge -.-
3. Metrica Province – kitten has this fire elemental killed me often during the first days! It was an epic battle with tons of dead players everywhere, and luckily the waypoint fees were low at the level I was xD And there are skritt – I love them and testing their iqs^^

Dislikes:
Dredgehaunt cliffs. Yeah dredge. And did I mention dredge? And when I did the vista in the jp for the first time, there was a champ patrolling down there, trying to kill me every failed attempt -.- I just so don’t like that map. Did 100% once, have nearly everything done on another character – not this map though.
Boodtide Coast: Too-much-water. Water everywhere -.- Not as bad as dredge, but not a map I loved.
The others are just fine I could name more maps I really like, but I’ll stick to the three I mentioned.

mine are all based on the scenery and looks, cause this game is preeeeeeeeettyyyyy

best!
1. Timberline Falls – oh my god this entire place is gorgeous. just run from top to bottom and take it all in, i never get tired of this map in any way.
2. Kessex Hills – aside from the centaur areas, it’s like you might as well frolic through it singing the hills are alive with the sound of music, it’s like a postcard of some idyllic countryside.
3. Frostgorge Sound – i like winter scenery and the kodan. the water here is extremely deep, too, it is neat to dive down so far.

worst? well, it’s more like the vanilla stripe of Neapolitan ice cream. it’s not exactly bad, it’s just that the others are better.
1. Southsun Cove – Skipping Stones is its only saving grace. i just don’t like the aesthetic of the karka or their caves/nests. i might like the map more if it ever had daylight, but i assume it doesn’t since it’s always nighttime when i go.
2. Brisban Wildlands – it has Skrittsburgh, which is a major plus, but nothing else impressed me. bandits aren’t interesting.
3. Plains of Ashford – for being the least memorable starter zone. feels like reaching, though, since i still somewhat like it.

Majyyks [Os] – NSP

1 – Lornar’s Pass, the shiver peaks are my favorite zones and of them Lornar’s wins due to the sheer size and virety, I also love how it feels cramped in many areas really capturing a mountaineering feeling.

2 – Wayfarer Foothills – for similar reasons as Lornar’s, I love the variety between the lower valley and the upper regions a lot plus it has some of the most fun and interesting event chains that I have seen.

3 – Malchor’s Leap, of the Orr zones ML is my favorite because of it’s ease of exploration (most of it being on flat land) and the two priest events are my favorite ones because of the lore behind them.

Least liked:

1 – Harathi hinterlands, I don’t like the looks, the events or the centaurs that feature heavily in it.

2 – Bloodtide Coast, I’m not a fan of the way pirates are portrayed in the game and this area features them prominently

3 – Straits of Devastation, one third of the area is boring events outside of Orr, the other third is filled with underwater combat and the final Orrian third is a pain to navigate.

1) Diessa Plateau. I can’t say what I love about it other than I definitely appreciate all the areas along the wall in particular. Good consistent events too. Giant is fun. Jumping puzzle is great.

2) Queensdale. Everyone is here. Visually appealing zone. Events are always called out. The most polished zone by far.

3) Fireheart Rise. Nothing like fighting masses of Flame Legion. Takes me back to GW1. I like the effigy event quite a bit too, one of my favorites for some reason.

Honorable mention: Timberline Falls. I just like the visuals. The events and hearts are pretty meh, but I just like to wander around this zone for the scenery.

Dislike: Cursed Shore, Straits, Malchor’s. I was sick of reef zombies before I even hit level cap.

Best:

Mount Maelstrom- tons of variety of scenery and enemies. Fun events in the volcano. The Crucible of Eternity complex is awesome to run around in.

Sparkfly Fen – more pretty scenery and events everywhere. And a dragon.

Queensdale – same as above… with the bonus of people always running around. Feels more alive then.

Worst:

Dredgehaunt, Snowden, and Lornar’s Pass – All horribly monotonous zones. Everything looks the same throughout. The enemies are the same. The scenery is the same. No events of any note. They’re big and white and boring at best. At worst I’m getting shot by cannons trying to get into Sorrow’s Embrace and jumping randomly up a side of a mountain to find that one pixel I can stand on to climb to the vista. I dont have a single positive memory of these zones except not ever having to go back when completed.

Timberline and Wayfarer’s are done right. The other Shiverpeak zones can take a hike.

Top Three:

Timberline Falls. I’m a sucker for pretty areas…and this has it, for me, completely.
Straits of Devastation. I love the meta chains in this zone. I love the idea of pushing three lines of attack across the water, joining up, and pushing further.
Harathi Hinterlands. Again, mostly for the brilliant DE across the top of the map. Traveling with the Seraph from camp to camp really feels like you’re pushing the line forward. Also like the appearance of Demetra here, and Saul D’Alessio’s tomb.

Bottom Three:

Brisban Wildlands. Gonna have to echo other sentiments here…there’s nothing there. Doesn’t feel like anything’s happening – just hearts for the sake of hearts. Aurora Glade mission area is nice though.
Fields of Ruin. After reading Ghosts of Ascalon I had a totally different idea of what this zone would be like in my head, and it didn’t live up to it. It doesn’t feel like fighting has been going on there, Ebonhawke doesn’t look impenetrable enough. The Charr could have totally taken that, really. Desert Gate provides some sexy intrigue though.
Blazeridge Steppes. More or less the same reason again… lack of stuff. There’s a bit of an Ogre DE to push, and the Dragon. Mmm, yes, that Dragon. Two minutes and it’s dead. As boss fights go, this one is the most disappointing one in the game, for me.

One zone that didn’t make it into my top three even though I’d have liked it to was Kessex Hills. Why? Garrenhoff. Only Garrenhoff, but that alone wasn’t enough of a reason for me, sadly. I love that town, really love it. The mystery and speculation around it excites me… but the rest of the zone doesn’t quite cut it.

Top 3:
Wayfarer Foothills – I usually like the winter zones in games and I always seem to like the starter areas most.
Queensdale – Again it’s a starter area, and there’s usually activity here.
Timberline Falls – Reminds me of spring, some areas with snow, some with grass, pretty zone.

Bottom 3:
Dredgehaunt Cliffs – Don’t like all the dredge either, only good thing here is Granite Citadel, (nostalgia from GW1)
Southsun Cove – Wouldn’t be a bad zone if it wasn’t for all the vet Karka’s and the normal mobs being difficult, I won’t even go there for ori.
Lonar’s Pass – Just seems very boring to me.

Favorite:

1) Mount Maelstrom: Overall I just enjoy playing here. Great visuals, great events and hearts.
2) Frostgorge Sound: Favorite of all the icy zones. Being from Florida I’m definitely not burnt out on snowy levels. Only 80 zone I really enjoy to be honest. So hate the Risen
3) Caledon Forest/SF: Was first zone a played, so I have some nostalgia here, plus I thoroghly enjoy the plant-like look. Sparkfly Fen would be a close choice too. In fact, let’s just say both are equal.

Least:

1) Brisban Wildlands: I did it on my main to get 100% completion, and swore I’d never set foot there again. Winding paths that lead to nowhere, terrible mobs, terrible events. No thanks
2) Metrica Province: Couldn’t stand it. Hate the hearts, hate the look of everything, overall thumbs down.
3) Kessex Hills: Other than a couple novelty areas, I was underwhelmed. The loading image made it seem like it would be so awesome.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.
