Top Precursors dropped below 1k mark!
I noticed that Colossus dropped to 600-700g. Almost tempted to buy now and get one finished before the new legendaries. And yet, I wonder what the new hammer will be.

Might as well wait to find out. I anticipate prices will go down even further when the expansion hits, and everybody who doesn’t feel like paying that much for a precursor can pursue the alternative route.
It was all because of this line
Master Legends: Train in legendary crafting to learn to create all existing legendary weapon precursors and new legendary weapon precursors introduced with Heart of Thorns.
Frankly I love that!
I’m curious what the impact will be to the crafting market overall.
The price of so many things is tied to the demand for rares to throw into the forge. It affects the price of rares which affects the price of ecto which affects the price of exotics, as well as other items.
I wouldn’t assume that making a precursor is necessarily cheaper than forging one (on average) because they are going to need to maintain the current gold/mat sinks. It will probably be more certain, but we really don’t know.
It could require clovers (RNG) and it could require Electrum – which, interestingly enough seems to give Mithrillium a second use beyond Deldrimor steel. This could push up the price of Deldrimor because people are going to want both.

t6 materials should increase significant in price since everybody can now do legendaries. Same with Ectos.
rare crafting might still continue but only for ectos.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
Uuuuuhhh yeah. Like 3 days before the announcement I purchased Leaf of Kudzu. Why? Whyyy??? This just reaffirms my conviction that buying precursors is just bad. I was able to at least resell it for a very small loss. I did not feel like waiting to see just how far down they’d go.
Unless the new precursor crafting is less expensive than the current precursor prices, now might be the best time to buy. What everyone should really be worried about is mat prices if the new legendary weapons use the same formula and even if they don’t precursor crafting may significantly increase the demand of the older weapons, hence more demand on those t6 mats.
If precursor crafting greatly increases the frequency of legendary weapons being made, prepare for every other material you need to fill the cost difference and rise in price.

What Can I Get From Masteries?
2. Master Legends: Train in legendary crafting to learn to create all existing legendary weapon precursors and new legendary weapon precursors introduced with Heart of Thorns.
I’m guessing the reason why precursors are dropping in price at the TP now is because nobody is buying them. People are waiting for the expansion to come out because they’ll be able to actually craft any precursor and no longer need to rely on RNG or the TP.
Perhaps some day I’ll be able to get my hands on a precursor and ultimately a legendary. As it has been since I’ve been playing I’ve never bothered with it due to prices in the TP being way beyond my reach and, as far as I know, I’ve never got one dropped. I am worried they will make it so we have to do extremely difficult content in order to unlock precursor crafting. I still haven’t obtained a single luminescent armor skin due to having to complete all achievements in various living story episodes, most of which are really difficult for me.
hopefully 1 of the item for the recipe is ascended weapon since i already have one, lol.
Archeage = Farmville with PK
I bought Howl last week for 390g, Howler is the last of the gen 1s that i like enough to bother making so im glad the price came down a bit. I think people are overestimating the ease at which they’ll be able to get precursors for masteries. I don’t think that ANET is just gonna give them to you I think your probably looking at alot of mats/gold, timegates, fetch quests(like mawdry), and maybe some RNG like the carapace coat. Now ill probably end up crafting any of the gen 2 i like but when people realize how much work is involved i think gen 1s wil raise back up a bit.

No one is actually claiming that it will be super duper easy. The new system is just there to give people an alternative to RNG or the TP. After all, you can get all the other materials for the legendary completely by yourself, without the aid of the TP.

I meant people as a general term not directed at anyone in particular. What I was implying is that part of the reason for the price drop is that a portion of the game population likely does think it will be easy, and when they realize it won’t be the price will raise back up a bit.

Accurate, if somewhat cynical, view of the players. =P
Then again, we’ve seen what passes for “reasonable” achievements from ANet before, so I suppose I lay my cynicism on the developers instead of the players.
Though, I think I might wait just a little to snag a precursor from the trading post. The prices will stabilize with the new adjustment to demand, and they’ll rise as people decide they’d rather farm gold again than chip away at an asinine task list.
