I noticed about two months ago that Anet has apparently been using the beach of Southsun as a test-bed for swimwear designs. Recently, I went about gathering images to document what I’ve seen so far, but not before I did a bit of digging for info on what was the cause of this testing. Most of the info I came across was not too surprisingly, on Reddit. There was mention of a glitch in the male board shorts (seen below) that resulted in the male character instead appearing nude. This post was dated over six months ago, and since the bugs have obviously been fixed. Seeing as the board shorts can be found all over the beach today, and on many races. Detailed below, everything from Kasmeer’s classic original Tyrian two piece, the infamous Faren speedo, to “leafy” Sylvari designs. Noting that some of them are as simple as de-textured undergarment recolors.

The question now is, when are these becoming available?

Another note, the one on the far bottom right was given to me by someone on an EU server, so will servers be an issue on styles available as well?

I’m sure he means the game, Tera Online, which could be considered the runway of mmorpg fashion design.

Oh, can’t say I’ve heard of it. I don’t wander much beyond GW2.

Would absolutely love me some Tera or Aion armors/weapons/outfits in GW2. Those 2 games got it figured out right. Some of the most beautiful and original ideas for weapons and armors I have ever laid eyes on!

I still hope to this day they add these into the game eventually. I would also like male Charr to have a speedo, but that’s for eye candy.

I don’t know. They took the shorts away. They changed the running animation. New outfits are ‘head to toes’, the last armor we got that was interesting replaced the skin with some sorta blue jelly.

Signs don’t point towards anything like that.

I would like my shorts and running animation back, however.

I’d also like a version of the Magician skirt that the Sylvari get. They already got the version right there, just slap another name on it and let us have it.

And since I’m pining, how about letting some of those vanity pets swim that clearly should be swimming.

I’m very disappointed they didn’t release these outfits for our characters this summer.

I suspect swimwear fell by the wayside when the entire concept of Town Clothes was scrapped.

Ironically, I also suspect that Town Clothes such as these would have probably made the money that Arena.net or NCSoft was looking for from said Town Clothes.

Too long waiting for those and hope they find their way to game soon and that we could dye them aswell. Also I wanted to dye my underwear or to change it with others styles. A good charakter editor should be able to deal with those and for 100% character costumation this is really needed.

A lot of things haven’t been released. There was a time I was ready to plunk down $10/800 gems for a swim suit. If they released them now amidst the glaring hole of real content it would do more harm than good.

I’d still buy swimsuits, even tho I don’t play as much as I used to anymore.

As long as they don’t do something stupid like add a trenchcoat or skirt to even those. -.-

Both Tera and Aion are Korean MMO’s. Koreans care about fashion and aesthetics literally more then the game itself.

Combine really fashionable character models and hair styles with really fashionable clothing add in some super insanely grindy game design and you got yourself a hit korean MMO.
