We all know how in most high end pve situations, Torment isn’t a viable condition. Currently it does about 75% of bleeding damage vs unmoving targets and 150% vs moving targets. I suggest for PvE only we reverse these figures.

Surrender and serve me in life, or die and slave for me in death.

Torment is viable just fine. Most classes that use it are ranged, which means the melee enemies they use it on take the extra damage. The ranged enemies, well, counter the Torment by not moving, as designed.

The only weird Torment I’ve run into so far is mace-Revenant, which is actually hilarious because the easiest way to up your damage is walk backwards.

Many alts; handle it!

Except in Raids, where it matters most.
It’s kinda inconsistent there and Sabetha barely moves at all (I don’t know if her Shadowsteps even count).

Being a melee condi spec, you’d think it’d be pretty strong, but it’s kinda average.
Also, Revenant is the only class that uses Torment as its primary damage-dealing condition, so it being “fine” is debatable.

In contrast, the vale guardian moves a lot, especially in phase 3. Gorseval also moves quite a bit.

Going back to inconsistency: In Phase 1 of VG, you can make him mostly stand still and in every split, the Red Guardian ideally doesn’t move at all.

Gorseval also doesn’t move at all during Updrafts or when he’s slamming the ground.

Torment as a melee is just weird and doesn’t synergize at all. I am supposed to hit them a few times and then run around? What about ranged mobs that don’t run at all? Bosses?

The idea behind torment is forcing your opponent to move so they take more damage. This is easier to do in PvP, but for most PvE encounters (excepting those where enemies can’t move or be moved) forcing your targets to move is certainly possible, though not optimal.

You can get a melee enemy to chase you while still being able to hit him in melee. You aren’t supposed to just hit them while standing in one spot.

Revenants really needs a trait that makes torment do competitive levels of damage for pve, as Mallyx is extremely focused on it. Ideally making Torment always do full damage.

In return, I think revs could stand to loose access to their other conditions, and making them sublime torment specialists.

It would also help if they had a ranged condi weapon. Or alternatively adding 600 range to Mace, emphasizing a semi melee style. They are after all known for unusual uses of weapons.

Torment is a terrible condition in PvE, especially compared to burning. The only reason to use it is if you don’t have a choice.
