Town clothes -> outfits, PLEASE! <3
If I remember correctly….
Town clothes had to change due to a hard coding limitation in when the wardrobe was added.
Surely though, Anet is now so au fait with making outfits that they should be able to produce outfit versions?
I can not talk intelligently about the intricacies of this topic since I do not understand the coding dilemma.
I certainly would like to see your vision come true, but unless we know the internal workings it is hard to press the issue here.
I’d rather seee town clothes changes to generic armor skins.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
I would rather have that I could convert the skins I lost and never managed to convert (bunny ears, gw2 cap, devils horns) to the new system:’( I wish we could go in the gem store and re-download all the skins we received for 3 over the last 3 years, but it only remembers your recent history. Shame!
PLEASE do this.
I know the coding issues, but can’t they JUST create a new item ID of outfits with the same appearance as the tonic clothing?
The only reason I’m not having any clothing tonic right now is the lack of color variation and the fact that most of them comes in dull colors.
I’d love for the town clothes to be converted to something dyeable. outfits would be good and maybe a source of income for the company, but I’d love more for them to be converted into armor skins so we can mix and match them.

Incorrect. In fact, some of the town clothes WERE changed to outfits. The pirate, cook, witch, and Wintersday outfits were town clothes to start with. My male charr necro used to run around wearing the witch outfit with the cook’s clawed boots and muzzle.
Now, it is true that the Outfit system does not allow individual parts such as the shorts and shirts that were being sold as town clothes. However, you’ll notice that the tonics add other items to make them entire outfits, they just never added them to the Outfit selection.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

This. Let me piece together a proper outfit, not this silly wacky nonsense with tonics!
I used to have town clothes which I like, I have no idea where they went to, something Arenanet did to them………….. Just gone.

+1 for using “au fait” in a sentence without stretching the meaning too far

When the wardrobe went live, anyone with Town Clothes on could no longer access them. Take the character and go talk to a Black Lion Armor merchant (each starting city should have one). They’ll take the town clothes off of you, and turn most of them into tonics, which is a nasty downgrade but at least you’ll have some access to them again.
Costume toys will be converted to toys you double click from inventory to use. A few town clothes items (Wintersday, witch, cook, and pirate) will add those outfits to your outfit selection instead of becoming tonics.

got a better idea… bring BACK town clothes, add all that 1 piece outfit nonsence to the town clothes too and make em useable in combat as true 4th armor weight…atleast town clothes where fun

Thanks for that Palador but I did that and I didn’t see any tonics or anything, and I have no access to my town clothes whatsoever.
As the Basaltface said, just give us our town clothes back Arenanet.
I asked for it before, and I’ll highfive Guzzi for bringing up again.
Tonics to Outfits!

it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
I would love to see town clothes turning into outfits maybe they could be outfits that you can gain by doing specific adventures in the world or completing some collections. It would be nice to have some skins that are race appropriate!
