Instead anet drops the ball once again, creating an activity that, instead of making me want to come back again and again for more, has me wishing it could go faster so I could get the achievement already.

The core problem is how ridiculously easy it is. There is no point to do anything other than mindless catapult/snowman spam for the entirety of the game.

Here’s what I would do to make it a much more rewarding experience:

1. Starting difficulty
Increase the base strength of the mobs so there would need to be some teamwork where a couple people kill them with the rifle while the others start setting up fortifications

2. Enemy strengths/weaknesses
Give each different mob a specific strength or weakness, i.e. taking more/less damage from specific siege and player weapons, doing more damage to walls, etc.

3. Actual fortification strategy
-Increase enemy scaling, but also increase health to walls and scaling on fortifications upgrading so there is a bigger decision between coverage or power.
-Make the wall placement more intuitive (make the blue placement marker show exactly where the wall is going to be/face and only that), so that it is easier to use them to create linked walls or choke-points.

4. Make the repair pistol actually do something

5. Skritt mercenaries and mortars
Make these strong counters against the boss so they actually have a use.

6. At the very least, increase gift rewards
Between the fact that it is a boring ez-mode tower defense and the poor rewards, there is no reason to play this over the jump puzzle or bell choir for entertainment or farming purposes.

Needless to say, since I’ve finished the 30 rounds achievement, I will not be returning to this activity unless it is a daily. I really hope Anet puts a little more thought into this next time around.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on both my suggestions and the activity itself. Leave em below.

1. the activity is fine as is. I’m glad it’s a mindless spam with the pistol or rifle for once that doesn’t require a well oiled team trying to survive a boss’s Aoe’s and whatnot.

2. Why does everything need to be about “rewards” ? I had fun in there although i didn’t finish it completely, and i’m def. going back to try to get it done.reward or not.

3. Mindless fun for half an hour (or more), what’s not to like. It’s not some tactical boss battle you need to prepare for and it doesn’t have to be.

OH F-F-S!

This is a FUN FLUFF EVENT, it doesn’t need morphing into yet more bloody 1990s group-or-die content!!!

Totally agree.

I don’t care about any of that stuff.

I just want to be able to play toypocalypse with my friends, not be placed with random players.

right click name/party icon -> join friend in pvp

if their instance is not full, you will join. if their instance is full, youll be dumped into a random instance. it isnt perfect, it isnt even great because of how many people there are doing these things and how hard it can be to actually get in the correct instance, but its there and it IS functional.

Poor rewards? I played it twice yesterday and got almost 7g for the parcels when I sold them.
I like it the way it is, but I’m usually the one just running around smashing things and building. If I want to fight I play the Snowball minigame (my favourite mini game).

No, I really don’t want this to turn into a real dungeon. I was a little burnt out from HOT and was looking forward to Wintersday for a bit of lighthearted fun. If Toypocalypse was harder it would probably be too long.

I enjoy it. I wouldnt say no to a hardmode, but as festival content, it serves its purpose for me.
