Guild Wars 2

Just curious, what’s Anet’s official position on ‘trading’ Guild Wars 1 items and gold to other people for Guild Wars 2 items and gold?

The games are linked by the Hall of Monuments, meaning that certain accomplishments in Guild Wars 1 do have effects in Guild Wars 2. So would I be able to, for example, trade my GW2 gold to someone (who owns both games) in return for GW1 gold so I can buy things needed to get 50/50 in my HoM, and therefore get the rewards in GW2?

I guess Anet doesn’t have official support for trading like this.
Since you need to have both people online, let them mail the items/gold in GW2 and trade in GW1. Without Anet’s support it’ll be a matter of trust. Trust is hard to find in online games if your dealing with some random person.

I can however help you out a little since i already have my 50/50 and got plenty of GW1 gold/items left that i just don’t want to get rid of for nothing in return. So we might make a deal. If you send me a PM maybe we can arrange something.

Yeah I know it would be an issue of trust, since there is no official support for it. However I am wondering if the trading between these 2 games is even allowed. I know people used to trade GW1 gold for Runescape gold, and that was against the EULA. However these are 2 related games from the same company, and they have a direct connection, so the answer is not so clear.

Thanks for the offer, nightly. As it stands, I’m much richer in GW1. It was more of an inquiry, and if I ever do such a trade, I would most likely be trading my GW1 wealth away as well.

I expect since you’re only trading in game commodities in both cases; not real money then this falls under the grey market.
