Okay, I can’t speak for anyone else out there but I personally love switching between all my lvl 80 toons. One day I’ll be on warrior another day I’ll be on my Mezmer and so on. To say that I have a dedicated “main” would be false as I’m constantly switching. Unfortunately, I only have 1 legendary and it’s soulbound to my warrior. Which got me to thinking is there a way to send my Twilight to another character on my account. Now most people would probably say “no it’s impossible, once you soulbind a legendary that it, you’re stuck, end of story.” In this post I’d like to propose a theory for switching Legendary Weapons between characters on 1 account. I’m not saying that this will work, and I’m not inclined to attempt this as it took me forever to farm my Legendary. If someone else wants to try this don’t try to pin this on me if it doesn’t work, like I said this is theory.
Ok so you want to trade a legendary between characters on the same account. First you’re going to need either a bit of gold or a credit card to buy some gems. We all know that you can take something that is soulbound and transmute the item to cosmetically look like something else. Once this is done the item is no longer soulbound, rather it becomes account bound; which means you can trade it between characters on the same account. I’ve done this to get the necro glowy eyes for my Mezmer The only problem is the item takes on the new appearance and since we’re talking about Legendary Weapons, you’ll want the cosmetic (obviously). So the question is how to get the cosmetic back after it becomes account bound. The answer, Transmutation Splitter. Now I know it says “All items will remain soulbound.”, but what happens when the item is account bound? Will it automatically return to being soul bound to the original character or will it remain account bound and still retain the desired cosmetic.
Let me know what you guys think. Have you tried it out before? do you know someone who’s tried? I’d love to hear.

Yes the Transmutation Splitter is a safe viable way to move a legendary around between characters on an account. I did test it out when they gave away free ones upon the release of splitters.

I only would do it if I planned to retire my character from play for a good amount of time. It takes both a Transmutation Crystal and Splitter each time you want to move a single legendary. I want them to become more account bound friendly.

it would be awesome if legendaries became accountbound on equip rather than soulbound on equip so we could transfer them between characters. they are such a huge undertaking to create, i don’t think it would be too much to ask?

If they ever do give us the possibility to make Legendaries Account bound it will probably in the form of some Cash Shop item that sells for a stupidly high amount of gems.

What, account bound your legendaries for the low low price of 2800 gems? The sad part is, it would probably sell, even at such a rip off of a price :p
