Simple question.

Do the skins you place upon an item carry over if said item is used as a skin for a second item?

For instance; I put a skin on my chest piece. I get a new chest piece with better stats, decide I’d like to swap it out. Can I use the prior chest piece, with the skin on it, and merge it with the new one so that the skin on the prior is how it appears?

I hope so, I’d rather not have another grudge against free-to-play games. =.=

Okay, so skins I buy from the store can be carried over to other items via their originally skinned item as long as I have the stones?

If so that’s a lot better than it sounded. I understood the skins could only be used once but wondered if they were also limited on the very item they skin over—as in its original appearance would be on a newly merged item rather than the skin itself.

Which of course, makes buying that skin a bit ridiculous if you have to buy it multiple times each time you have new gear to swap out. .-.

You have transmutation stones, 2 types. 1 is for moving skins on level 79 and below items, and the other is for level 80 items. I have never had to buy them from Gem store and have tons of both from just playing the game.

You double click the stone and it brings up a window where you can drop the 2 items and choose what you want to keep from each item, from the skin to the bonuses.

You can use transmutation stones for that if the gear is under level 80 or transmutation crystals if it’s level 80, basically allow you to get the looks of one piece of gear with the stats of another. You can buy them off the gem store, though the stones drop very commonly from daily quests. The crystals do as well, but I’ve gotten only twice and playing since release doing dailies almost every day.
