Hey guys,

I haven’t dabbled much with transferring soulbound weapon to another char, however, I did know how to do it with armor.

In armor, I have tried it with sub-Lv80 (Lv60s-Lv79s) gear
a) Transmute soulbound item to a white item, Item becomes account bound
b) Move the account bound item to bank, have your alt get it

Question is, does it work the same way with a Lv80 Weapon? I know that it will probably work, but I am not sure, and the Lv80 Crystal is pretty expensive to waste.

Reason I ask is that, I am preparing to transfer my Ascended weapon to another character because I plan to make a legendary. Since the Legendary has Ascended stats already, I just want to give it to an alt using an Exotic weapon.

My plan is:
a) Transmute Lv80 White Gsword with the Ascended GSword. Retaining all looks, sigil , stats and what-nots of the Ascended. Hopefully, the Ascended now becomes Account Bound and can be transferred to any char that can use GSword
b) Win!

Sadly, it doesn’t work that way. The soulbinding is attached to the stats. What happens is this:

[Ascended appearance] + [Ascended stats (soulbound)] : [White appearance] + [White stats (account bound)]

You can create a new item by mixing the appearance with the stats of these two. So you can get the appearance of the white on your soulbound stats, or you can get the appearance of the ascended with the white stats (making it account bound), but you can’t make those stats account bound by any mixing combination because the binding is attached to the stats.

Make sense?

Basically, the trick you describe can ONLY make skins account bound for use on other characters. It doesn’t let you transfer stats to other characters.

Thanks foofad. Makes sense. I always know how to transfer, like you said, “skin” without regard to the stats because I mostly use Lv60 skins (i.e Tier 2 Cultural) to Lv70+ Exotics Stats.

That is what I’m really most afraid of, that the skin is the only transferrable and not the stats.

Isn’t this where the transmutation splitter comes in? People move legendaries between characters.

Account bound gear should be transferable its already bound making it more bound IMO seems repetitive

JasonP, indeed it is. I’m willing to use a Lv80 Crystal to transfer my Ascended GSword to another char. Right now, my ascended GSword is “soulbound” already to my Guardian.

I have a Warrior, a Mesmer and a Ranger, that all can use Ascended GSword. All of these are using Exotic-tier weapon.

I mostly use Guardian now, hence, why I have my first Ascended GSword bound to him, till I decided to make a Legendary.

The challenge is, how to get the stats and skin to another character since the Ascended GSword won’t be used anymore on my guardian. The Ascended GSword is NOT yet account bound, it IS currently soulbound.

I guess I’ll try it on a lv70 rare to see for myself…

Heya, not sure what this means, but i usually dont consider the level of item I am transmuting. I tried Lv80s and Lv10s and it worked for me in the past, as far as skinning is concerned

the white item can be any level, but it only works for transfering a skin from one character to another.
the soulboundness follows the stats. so if you have a soulbound item and you choose that item’s stats when transmuting, the resulting item is soulbound. hence why transmuting doesn’t work with ascended.
transmutation splitter, on the other hand, I’m pretty sure is able to create account-bound items. even if the starting item wasn’t transmuted.

It does not have to be a legendary to use a Trans splitter. Though once you transfer it to the other character and use the splitter it will make said item you wanted soulbound to the new character.
