Okay, so, I just purchased a set of skin for my character. It was the Flamekissed set. But what I want to know is do I have to use a transmutation charge to equip the skin every single time that I equip higher level gear? Or am I missing something? Because if so then I regret spending my money.

You should have got some skin items that would let you apply it for free the first time. After that though, you will have to spend transmutation charges in order to reskin any other armor sets that you want to have that appearance.

However, transmutation charges are not that difficult to come by without having to purchase additional ones from the gem store. In particular, they are gained from map completion rewards as well as at certain intervals in PvP reward tracks. So if you make sure to do some PvP every day (even just hotjoin), you can start building them up without having to buy them straight from the gem store. You can also get them from some login rewards.

Generally speaking, I would only focus on particular cosmetic appearances once you have your character at level 80 and have a set of level 80 exotic or ascended gear. If you keep applying the skin on every new armour piece you get on your way to level 80, it can burn through a lot of transmutation charges since you’ll be acquiring new gear while levelling up quite frequently. Once you have a set of “end game” gear, it’s not likely you’ll replace it frequently, so you won’t have to keep burning transmutation charges on it.

That is what I was thinking too. I was just checking. Kind of upsets me though. I spent money on it, I shouldn’t have to use Transmutation Charges. Thank you for your help though. I may just end up wearing an outfit until I reach level 80.

Pretty much don’t use skins until 80, and use outfits for leveling.

I wouldn’t bother too much with how you look while leveling. It is a bit annoying, but unless you want to burn charges, it’s worth just getting to 80, getting some exotic armor and then transmuting.

Try your luck in PvP, I get so many of them I wish I could convert them to something more practical.

This.

I would definitely also recommend buying an outfit, or two, for levelling in.

I didn’t really get how it worked, either, when I was first levelling and I wasted a few charges.

Whereas, with the outfits, as long as you have the outfit selected and the box ticked/checked, they go over everything you have equipped (and everything you will equip, in future) and cost no charges.

If you want to use skins when leveling .. at least use only skins for chest and legs.
And then buy for example yellow items that last for 15 levels instead of blue or
green that you change every 5 levels.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

You only paid to unlock the skins, not for infinite use of the skins.
