Not sure when this change happened but I just re-skinned an ascended backpiece and when I used a transmutation splitter on it, although it told me the outcome would be 2 account bound items, my back piece went back to being soulbound.

Enough of the control, Anet.
Make my equipment account bound. Permanently.
I don’t want to trade it, I just want to use what I earned on another character that I put time in YOUR game into.
Why is this even a thing?
Stop penalizing your players this is getting ridiculous.
P.s I would like my 300 gems back please.

I do not believe it has ever made the items account bound.
I have used them buy it was to transfer a legendary to another character.

I always use the transmutation splitter within the character I want to use the item on as it makes the items soul bound.

The description of the items in the window when using a Transmutation device states the items will be returned account bound.

I do agree. Everything should be account bound not soulbound.

It is a lot of work and cost of gems to transfer our hard worked items to other characters.

Did they change the in-game description?

‘Will return the original appearance item and stats item from an existing transmuted item. All items will remain soulbound.’

They don’t really give enough accurate info with these things in-game.
I was annoyed when this happened with my Jade Dragon weapon~ the preview said I was getting the skin back in its original state it was at when I apply’d it. I assumed the preview weapon was showing me exactly what I was splitting apart and getting, except I got a bound white weapon that was transmuted to the Jade Skin. If I’d known the window was totally meaningless I wouldn’t of used it. ;/

You can use a Basic Tranny on it though to move it onto a white item. Not an easy process with back pieces though unfortunately. Honestly they’re really just way too picky with completely harmless things like this. It’s like a “why the hell not; it isn’t hurting anyone?” kinda thing.

I’ve used them before to convert soulbound to account bound.
However when you click it and put the item in the items output images show account bound.

Hmm never really read into it.
