Hi,

I’m about to finish my legendary weapon. However I don’t like the stats of it. Can I safely transmute the Legendary skin onto another exotic weapon with more appropriate stats? Wouldn’t I lose the “Legendary” specificities like a purple text, the name, etc.?

You would be better off selling the Legendary. Not a good idea to Transmute a Legendary after all of the (presumed) grinding. Plus, I’ve heard that you can find Exotics with the Legendary skins.

Correct me if I’m wrong on that.

if you use the legendary as the title in the transmutation,
you keep it’s name/skin/effects.

add any item of the same type to get the stats you like,
same with the upgrade.

the colour is linked to the stats item, so you will lose the purple if you transmute into exotic stats.

or alernatively, you could transmute a white level 1 item and make the name purple if the legendary is the stat provider (not that you would want to).

The whole point of a legendary weapon is the unique skin. So unless the answer to my question is yes, you shouldn’t be able to find any exotic with a legendary skin.

So please, given the time invested and the risk I’d take, if you don’t know, don’t answer.

I think you’re confusing the fact that you can find exotics with the same skins as precursors with them having the same skins as legendarys.
Also, very bad idea to transmute it, when ascended weapons are introduced legendary weapons will have their stats boosted to be the same as them, if you transmute now it’ll turn it into an exotic and won’t get its stats boosted down the line.

If ANET doesn’t figure out how to boost the stats on transmuted Legendary weapons before they release Ascended weapons, lots of people will be very angry. Even worse, the angry people are the ones who used stuff from the gem store. Especially after explicitly promising that they will boost Legendary stats.

I doubt ANET will be stupid enough to anger the people who are using the store. Especially when one obvious solution is to give everyone a Legendary an Ascended weapon with the same stat combo and a free fine transmutation stone. That would keep their promise.

So if you don’t like the stats on your Legendary, transmute it with stats you do like. All you will lose now is the color of the text.

Not that I do not agree with what you said but then that will create another group of ppl who goes “OMG i didnt mind the transmuted stats and now i have to spend Xgold transmuting it again?!” I think that if one transmute stats on their legendary Anet assumes that you are happy with the stats and want to keep them. Transmutations are permanent until you retransmute with them. That said, i agree with most of what you said.
