One of the biggest problems I have with massive boss fights is that I can’t see the d@mn boss, or anything around him/her/it due to the huge number of skill effects going on and around the boss. If ranged, I can’t see where to place a targeting reticle. If melee, I can’t even see if I’m hitting it or just swinging at empty air. And, there’s no way to see the boss’s “tell” of his big attacks. Don’t get me wrong. I like the look of the skill effects, in moderation. Just not when I can’t even see the boss.

At a minimum, I would love to see a slider on a page somewhere where I can adjust the transparency of the skill effects. For any large fight at least, I could make the skill effects more transparent, so that I’m only seeing a ghostly image of them, and can see the boss through them. Even better would be a quick way of turning the transparency on and off, so I could quickly switch between them for smaller and larger fights. Or have 2 transparency bars and a way to quickly toggle between them. But I would be incredibly grateful for just the minimum.

I’ts even better than a tick-box for effects on/off

Can’t wait for something like this to be implimented, I’m sick of dying just because I can’t see kitten with all those flaming stuff going on

I hate every time a guardian strikes virtue of justice the Legendary Archdiviner gets covered in blue/yellow flames and lights up like a Christmas tree to the point you can’t even see his limbs, so I can’t dodge melee range and get one shot.

I like the idea but I wager it’s difficult to implement.

This would require re-animation of ALL skills in the game. That would take several months and take valuable art resources from other facets of the game.

Thankfully there aren’t that many skills in the game and I don’t think this is an animation problem. How the avatar moves isn’t the issue, it is the effect that travels along with the animation.

This may sound cynical, but I think the “fog of combat” generated by particle effects is used as a way to increase the combat difficulty.
