They’re starting to pick up in droves now because of trial account. They are spammin LA in my server constantly.

Trial accounts may be doing more harm than its worth.

Gold spammers aren’t going to cause current users to quit.

They’re an inconvenience, nothing more.

That’s not how they are working. The trial accounts are nothing but bots to advertise the product, they do not actively do any trading necessarily because they don’t need to. They are there to get unscrupulous players to notice a website name.
The gold selling itself likely takes place in the form of the seller mailing a high value item(such as a precursor) to the customer in game. The customer then sells the item for gold on the TP.
The trial accounts are a major problem in this respect and amount to free advertising for gold sellers, along with allowing banned users back into the game to cause more trouble.
If Anet wants to do trial accounts, that’s fine, but they should have map chat disabled.

Overusing of bots and spammers is what actually killed diablo 2 lod in the long run so this argument doesnt count IMO.

The other day, I was talking with a friend (who was interested in the trial) about why GW2 trials are set dates instead of being somehow limited on the basis of an individual player, but I suppose this is a pretty compelling reason. If trials are only a weekend, or a week, long, the influx of gold spammers only lasts that long, even if they slip through whatever other anti-spam measures are in place.

What annoyed me last night was the lack of response to site spammer in LA on JQ. One bloke put out the same message every minute in map for the half an hour I was there. Reported him when I first saw the messages, then again 10 minutes later, then again when I left to do my dailies. Came back an hour later and he was still there. Same guy. I know it’s whack a mole but what, Oceania/Asia doesn’t deserve a response to boot these guys? I’m not asking for a reaper to spring up and dispatch him, just make him go away.

I wish reporting also blocked them, but apparently you have to do that in 2 actions.
