I’ve been trying many times to get to get any success killing ONE of the wurms. Most of the time we have small groups with no commanders and we (obviously) fail but also on large groups with very skilled commanders who know the strategy and squads REALLY doing their best we fail because we did not make it in time. It would be nice if this event could become a but more accessible to average and above players by giving us at least more time to get the wurms down.

Yes, I know, there are more skilled players who completed these, I see the titles around from time to time but success would be welcome to an other part of the player base who really tries but does not make it time after time after time.

Ascalon will prevail!

I have NEVER in 4 years of playing seen a successful Triple Trouble. One time I participated in killing a single wurm, but that was it. It feels like Octovine in Auric Basin was meant to be a sort of replacement (different groups fighting simultaneously, different mechanics at each one, having to coordinate with the timer)

It’s meant to be difficult, it’s the most difficult event ingame… if you want to do it i would suggest joining a community that does it multiple times per day, such as GW2community or OpenCommunity or one of the fair few others there are.

I don’t think it’s too hard. The only problem is some players do not listen and that you have to get enough players on one map (around 90 at least) for it.

I am playing for a month now. Went to try TT 5 times. 3 were a success. One organized by RNG guild, second one with PHSD or sth like that guild and third with gw2community.

Truth be said worms are hard to be completed without some organized group of players, teamspeak and others willing to listen to them. But hey, it’s a worldboss. It shouldn’t be doable by everyone just spamming their skills blindly.

The sad thing is I don’t see it organized so often (they mostly do it on Saturdays) and to get into good group with commanders leading the event you have to camp on the TT map at least 40 mins before the boss… Thats a lot of time.
The other sad thing is : even when someone is leading the event and writing/telling players what to do – even on map chat – some players just ignore it and can seriously lower the chances of completion. Maybe they don’t understand english, maybe they’re just mean, but a group of players killing abominations when we couldn’t get in anyway almost wiped our Amber Wurm, they also casted light fields everywhere… : P. We said to not do it in say chat, in map chat, in squad, on teamspeak, and they still were doing it… So yeah.

Anyway – to be honest I like this difficulty. I like that you have to communicate with others, plan what to do and teamplay to complete it. That’s what MMO’s are about I think.

Actually I think there should be more events like that – not with monsters hitting hard or you having to dps your best, but with coordination and communication of players required.

I think that half of the world bosses are just sad. Big dragon-like things that don’t even swip their tails or bite, or move their claws almost at all. I mean… I’m sad every time Tequatl is doing NO dmg at all to anyone, his waves are, his minions are, but he alone is hitting like a 1 year old baby :P.

This is one of the few content that a guild have to organize for so please dont ask for it to get nerfed.
Are you guys eu or na, there are guilds/communities dedicated to this event in both server blocks.

gw2community do it 3 times a day on eu servers, you have to listen on teamspeak tho since if to many randoms burn down 1 wurm head before the others are ready it will fail.

This I agree with. I wish there were more players doing it, not only communities with map jumping, but guilds putting LFMs and all. Sometimes I wait and wait to see if there’s any guild doing it, and I am sad to see empty LFM.

There are Communities on EU and NA who organize every meta event at least once a week and some events even daily

If you play on EU servers:

ts.gw2community.com
gw2ts.de (this is a german TS !)

check these 2 Teamspeak servers out
You can see the meta/boss events planned for the current week (new plan every monday i think) in the Events channel that both of these have somewhere at the top
(called “Events & Termine” on german TS and “Event Area (Read Description)” on english TS)

For the english TS you can also look it up at the calendar website
http://gw2community.com/calendar/
blue marked events are repeated everday and the green ones change from week to week

Just search for Triple Trouble and get ready for the day and time when it will be organized

You won’t need to talk or say anything .. just join the right channel and listen and be prepared to join on certain players in order to jump to the correct Map instance on which the event will take place

If you play on NA:

With a website for planned events:

The hardest thing about TT is getting enough people on the map that will listen to complete it. Its 3 world bosses at the same time, and you have to pretty much kill them at the same time as well. It just needs far more people than other world bosses do.

Like other people said, check one of the communities that do Triple Trouble on a daily basis. I manage do complete the meta-success thanks to OpenCommunity, they do it every evening on the EU servers. Check their TS : ts.gw2oc.org

You don’t need to join a guild or even speak on the TS. You just need to follow the instructions, they have awesome and super nice commanders.

If you’re on NA, TTS and EVOS are the two guilds I know regularly run successful TT.

I’m not 100%, but I believe EVOS does map chat commanding. TTS requires teamspeak (that’s how they get interested players into the same map and give instructions… no speaking required).

I disagree. I think would be worse if every world boss in the game were as easy as the Claw of Jormag or Golem Mark II. There are already plenty of encounters where folks can just show up and, as long as they don’t do anything too foolish, they can get rewarded.

And triple trouble doesn’t require a dedicated guild per se. It’s just that it’s never gotten the attention that other bosses got from the community (for a variety of reasons) and so there aren’t nearly as many people who know the mechanics. I can already see that shatterer can be defeated by PUGs (and less often, people can stop it from flying) and that was a fight that people insisted would never be PUGgable.

Having participated in TT yeasterday night in EU, I can say that it is not impossible to do it. Commanders are kind to explain each and every phase of the world boss and actually we did great, even though I personnaly wasn’t on TS. Burn phases were good except for some people who kept attacking the wurm once we reached the 15% threshold. Apparently, the event failed because of amber, it is pretty common from what I was reading in chat

I will add that NA has 4 groups that run TT regularly, 3 of them do it daily.
TTS has their own schedule. EVOS, RnT and Post Reset run it daily each in a different timeslot. I think there is only 1 timeslot without a regular group running it now. Do note that you will have to use LFG tool to find the correct map usually taxis are up half an hour before the time on world boss timers.

Triple Trouble is not as hard as people make it out to be. It’s just that most people do not care enough about it to learn the mechanics of the event so organisers have to take 10-15 mins to explain the event every single day, and even then only so many will care enough to listen and follow directions.

I enjoy how difficult the event is, I have been help running the event every day for the past year and would be very sad if it was nerfed at all. Possibly to the point were I would stop organising it since the only reason I do so is because it is currently fun. A lot of the organisers I personally know feel the same way.

The complexity of organisation is what makes commanding it such an enjoyable experience. The ability for one small thing going wrong to put the run at risk of failing is what makes it the most interesting event in the entire game. You learn to plan around it, think outside the box, think of ways to adapt to things not going perfectly. And a good commander will still win despite everything not going to plan.

I agree that it is far too hard for what is, after all, an open world boss. However, it is what it is and the only chance you’ll ever get to succeed is with an organised map. If you are on a map 10-15 mins before the start and there are only one or two comms then just leave it. Someone will always say “let’s try anyway” but it will never succeed.

An organised map will have three comms and be bossing folks about in chat well before the start. I shouldn’t have to be like that but it is.

Others have mentioned the GW2Community (EU). If it wasn’t for these people, I’d never have completed the TT meta. They are awesome! Look for their map shout-outs ahead of their daily TT take down, jump on the Teamspeak and listen to their clear instructions on what to do, then do it! They’re competent and fun. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

I’d rather it stay as is too. It’s already received a huge nerf by way of husk-blocking. A condi team isn’t strictly needed anymore. And if a husk did get out, it’s a lot easier to condi it down by breaking it’s bar, compared with the previous defiance stacks.

It’s kinda sad: On one hand players complain that the event is too difficult and never killed even one worm and on the other hand orgas, that have a success-rate of well over 80% (for decapitating AND killing all 3 heads) have to cancel their worm events because not enough players show up.

The worm orgas constantly look for new people who want to try the worm. That’s why you’ll get full instructions every single day, even if there is only a single new player. Most communities have already been mentioned in this thread, so pick one and visit their event if you’re interested.

Truth be told: Some of these communities wouldn’t even exist without triple trouble. An event so hard, that it absolutely requires an orga has brought so many players together… Nerfing it would harm the game and the communities on a scale that no expansion could ever fix.

No event should demand raid level preperation unless it’s an actual raid. The event is pre trinity and involves three Zerg sized coordinated groups.

Which was fine at the time there is a reason such content was fine back then but god awful now and that reason is HOT.

Treadmill games have ever increasing stat gains and old content while having fewer and fewer people participating no longer needs as many people as when it was current due to less people needed to complete it so it still gets done.

Gw2 has no such thing and it has old content that people have moved away from and less and less people participate. We need a QoL patch the nerfs and scales these bosses/content to be completed by smaller and smaller groups. Either that or include a stat boosts through mastery in core tyria maps.

If you disagree or have an argument I have but one response in that the standard MMO model currently is that an expansion comes with all previous content. However in GW2 they stated the old expansion would get dumped to F2P status. We have people in new maps but not the ones who don’t own HoT but when the new expansion hits those people will get HoT free and then they will leave the core maps. We went from a game you could casually get stuff done to one that demands guilds and lfg it’s bad now but will only get worse as time goes on.

I don’t know about EU but for NA groups only one group out of the 4 that regularly run it use teamspeak. EVOS, RnT and Post Reset all use squad chat exclusively for instructions. I find too many players assume because one group uses teamspeak everyone uses teamspeak.

I actually think your suggestions on making world events easier are some of the best I’ve seen on the forums – props for that.
I have a few counter-arguments though that I’d like to bring up here.
1. Arenanet has specifically addressed this point of making sure they do not gate the loot behind triple trouble content. Obviously at this point, we still don’t have any hard world bosses like this one, or HoT season 2 (or whatever they’re going to call it), so we don’t know where either loot is going. It seems, so far, like the tripletrouble loot will remain unrewarding to the living world story and therefore not a huge deal that some people will be missing out on parts of it. (I know, I know, people will still want to loot it – I’m the same way. I love to loot all I can in-game.) I think Anet made a judgement call and decided that if not every player experienced it for themselves, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. We’ll just have to see where they change it.
2. Time. Time is a huge factor in deciding what content to work on. It’s possible that Anet looked into making some sort of nerfed boss, and realized that it would interfere with them creating new pve content in a timely manner, which frankly wouldn’t be fair to the players who find their enjoyment in that caliber of content, because this tripletrouble boss is literally the only thing we have to do at that level. It’s possible they didn’t even consider it. It’s possible it’s being worked on right now and we don’t know about it. Basically, it’s easy for us to sit around and ask for all sorts of new content, but when you’re the developer, you have to prioritize and it seems like a nerfed boss is sitting rather low on that list if it’s on there at all.
3. While this may be hard to understand for people who don’t want to hop on ts to do triple trouble, the existence of a nerfed boss would devalue the prestige of completing the existing challenging content, for many organised tripletrouble players. This type of content is something the game has lacked for years, and let me tell you, for me and many of my in-game friends who are spending lots of time to do tripletrouble whenever possible, it has felt like our requests for a real challenge in the game have fallen on deaf ears for that whole time. This is the first time we’re seeing content that is really meant for those who want to dedicate a lot of time and effort towards completing content with a dedicated group of players who are just as skilled and invested as they are. To us, it just seems fair that that content would remain challenging so that other people would have to put in just as much time and effort to be as successful as we were. Obviously this is a rather emotional argument and so you can take it how you like. I’m just trying to explain what it feels like from our perspective because I think a lot of the people who are truly enjoying the tripletrouble experience are pretty silent on the forums.
Personally, doing tripletrouble has been the most fun I’ve had playing GW2 in years and a reason why I will keep playing for as long as they keep making them. I love so much about GW2 – the combat system especially – (which is why I’ve played for years without this boss!) and the fact that I can experience so much of that in a world boss environment has been incredible for me.
My advice is to give tripletrouble a few months. We’ll see more and more of the community become proficient at these fights and more open to helping less experienced players complete the encounters. My group has already taken a few different week to run tripletrouble with players from map chat who consider themselves more casual but want to experience the fight, even after killing the boss ourselves (read: no extra rewards for us, just the experience of helping our friends out). I’m sure you’ll see more and more of that over time.

You do not need to be any type of skilled player. Look at map chat, look at LFG look at the various communities mentioned in this thread. Have run hundreds of times and when I bought another account it was easy to get the runs to get all of the achievements, sometimes by just being on a map at the right time.
No need to change it now.

No event should demand raid level preperation unless it’s an actual raid. The event is pre trinity and involves three Zerg sized coordinated groups.

TT doesn’t require anything near raid-level of preparation. Like anything in the game, the fights include various mechanics. What makes TT special is that some of the mechanics are new to many players. The preparation (and voice-coordination) is to help people learn those mechanics. Once learned, people don’t usually have to be as involved with a coordinating guild.

Some of the other fight mechanics have counterparts in lots of other encounters, especially some of the new ones. Unsurprisingly to students of human nature, there are many players unfamiliar with these mechanics, too and the organization helps ensure people learn them enough for the fight.

TT might or might not be too hard (I think the evidence suggests that it’s not). It might need tweaking here or there But let’s not exaggerate its complexity by comparing it with Raids. It’s closer to Silverwastes and TD/AB metas. The big difference is that (for various reasons) it’s never been that popular, so there aren’t many people familiar with how it works — even SW/TD/AB etc only succeed when enough skilled people show up; it just happens that is nearly all of the time for AB, most of the time for TD, and often not for SW these days.

I said for the time I even mention the zerg and other compoments we didn’t have trinity elements back then and TT was the closest in fact the highest thing in the game in regards to preparation. Fractals, dungeons, and all the things in that time frame didn’t require half the effort and the issue becomes as time goes on less people will be doing it but the difficulty will not go down.

TT is to hard when you consider the people moving to new content and new expansions and leaving it behind and the new players who try to complete it while all the vets are off doing the newest thing.

Every MMO deals with this and every MMO has mechanics making it easier for new players to complete old content that people have moved away from with time. Many use stat increases but Guild Wars 1 tossed people Heroes/Hench/Merc to complete old content.

GW2 needs a mechanic to ease content as it gets older and fewer people are around to do it just like every other game under the sun. So since we have no stats and I doubt we’d ever get hench the easy solution is to nerf it.

I’m a member in one of the many TTS guilds and we run Triple Trouble multiple times a week. Teamspeak isn’t needed but it does make it easier and gives you a better chance at getting in the correct map. When we do Triple Trouble we all go to bloodtide coast 15 minutes or so before the escort event starts. If you see us in the map, don’t assume you’re all set and go afk. We get there early and wait for the map to fill up and eventually a fresh map is created. We have a few squad leaders get into that new map, we then join that squad and right click to join them in bloodtide coast. If you are ever on the map and then see all the TTS members disappear this is what is happening. If you are on our teamspeak, you’ll hear what user to join on to get into the right map. Teamspeak makes everything easier for a flawless run so the people in the guild and teamspeak get priority. After that we split up into 3 groups, 1 for each wurm. After that if we still need more players for a specific wurm (this happens often), the squad leader goes on LFG and advertises the squad and what wurm head it’s for. Everyone is free to join in and most directions are all explained in map chat. I did Triple Trouble twice last week and both times about half the map was randoms that probably did TT for the first time with us. We always want to do the event in a fresh map to get the most people interested in doing the event into that map. If you don’t want to use teamspeak, don’t want to get their early, etc. thats fine. Look for the TTS Triple Trouble runs in LFG around 10:45pm EST (maybe sooner or later than that) during the days on this calander:

http://ttsgamers.com/event-calendar/

(look for PAC Triple Trouble on the calendar for the 10:45 pm est time slot.)

If you get in the map and have questions, ask in map chat. And good luck getting a Pile of Regurgitated Armor, I’ve done TT many times over the past couple years and never got a single one to drop for me. -_-

TT is to hard when you consider the people moving to new content and new expansions and leaving it behind and the new players who try to complete it while all the vets are off doing the newest thing.

This is simple not true for Triple Trouble. The vets are not off doing the newest thing, we are there helping to run the event in most cases. Most TT groups have a good number of regulars for their timeslot that come for months on end. These ‘vets’ are not off doing the new map, or grinding wintersday, they are on my map wanting their TT kill for the day. These vets are so important to the event to pass along tactics and knowledge of the event for new players to learn.

If you nerf the event though you will find that these vet players will have no reason to come back to bloodtide coast. We already have the achievements, we don’t need the loot, so why bother coming? Oh because we have made a community around a difficult event and that is what makes it so kitten fun.

It’s great to see all the various communities pointed out on this thread. As one of gw2community’s TT commanders, I can confirm we’re still doing a minimum of 2 runs per day (check out the calendar to see when they are http://gw2community.com/calendar/) and also run a variety of other events during the week as well.

We do like everyone to be on teamspeak, although we know there will always be a number of people who stumble across us when we choose a map who will not be on ts. Full explainations of the event are done each run, and we also gather on teamspeak for our “jump” at 30 min before the event’s pre-timer starts. The various communities tend to jump at slightly different times so we have less chance of conflicting with each other as we look for those elusive empty (or as empty as possible) maps so we can get as many of the people in teamspeak onto our chosen map as we can.

As noted above, communities ARE seeing fewer people come along to the organised runs, so if you’re looking to complete the event (for masteries or for the challenge/fun of it) then do come along and bring your friends too! It can still be done with lower numbers on teamspeak, but we’re still looking for new people who want to learn the skilled roles that the event requires.

Those skilled roles are:

The Condies: Can be any profession, so long as they are wearing condition stat gear and are capable of stacking large amounts of conditions on a single target. Their job is to melt down the Champion Husks that the heads spit out every 90 seconds.

The Diboofs(aka Egg blockers, the name we use has a story behind it): The diboofs can be any profession that has access to a reasonable number of projectile reflects, although obviously some professions are better at it than others. Elementalists, Mesmers, and Guardians are the usual choices for these. Their job is to block the 9 eggs the wurms spit out every 40-45 seconds, as these hatch into larvae that can quickly fill the arenas with deadly AoEs.

Without these two roles filled, the event areas will fill up with a maximum of 9 husks and 27 larvae, and even just a fraction of these numbers will render the event impossible to complete. Anyone who has gone along on an unorganised map will be familiar with the havoc these mobs can cause. Communities are also at times finding themselves short on those who can complete these roles, so if you’re joining our runs and want to learn, just join the condi/egg-blocker groups and the experienced ones will show you the ropes. We’re also always on the look out for more people interested in learning to command the event

So do come along, join TT with any community that does the runs at the times best for you/in your region. We’re always welcome to newcomers

I’ve tried to do the event 38 times in the past few months (yes I’ve counted), and it has succeeded once. And in those 38 I’m only including times when there were enough players to even have a chance.

I’d really love to get those remaining MP’s

You need organized map in order to kill it properly.

I don’t know about anyone else, but being at a wurm-kill briefing while that large thumper thing is going off nearby…it always gives me excited chills.

I only have Cobalt wurm left to kill, I just need to find the time to actually do it.

That being said, I’m going to have to disagree with the op. As pointed out above, there are many groups that successfully kills all three wurms every day. You just need to find them. The overall difficulty does not need to be lowered.

Asura characters: Zerina | Myndee | Rissa | Jaxxi | Feyyt | Bekka | Sixx | Akee | Tylee | Nuumy
| Claara
Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.

Look in LFG. TTS does it all the time. I think I have failed one wurm kill with them. I have all the achievements from running with them and it is almost a guarantee you will kill all three wurms with them everytime. They are very good at organizing it.

The fight isn’t really that hard it’s more about getting the numbers to do the fight than the battle being tough and while you can have numbers you need to have a near even number to each wurm. Teamspeak isn’t required for the fight at all however it will make things slightly simpler. You can achive everything done in map chat or say chat if you have people that listen to you however being able to speak your commands does help save time.

I used to lead the wurm fight nearly 2-4 times a week for over a year and yes there will be some bad fights which happens because wurms can do some crazy things as well as the husk however it’s something which can happen if people put the effort in to learning a few simple things.

9 organized attempts further. With skilled commander. 9 fails. But I’ll keep trying.

Ascalon will prevail!

I would also recommend gw2community. The only failed TT attempts I’ve ever seen were back when it was just added to the game. I don’t do it on a regular basis anymore, but whenever I do I join gw2community and it never fails. Admittedly I wouldn’t even try it on a random map if people call it out, or by using the LFG system. If you know the times of the event, join gw2community’s TS (it’s open, so no password needed). They usually do it 3 times a day. I even come across shout outs on other maps regularly, stating they’re going to organize the next TT event.

TT is fine. It doesn’t need to be nerfed in any way. Perfectly doable with a group who knows what they’re doing. With all the other world bosses out there, and how easy all of them are, it’s nice to have at least one event like TT. Not everything has to be accessible to everyone. This game has plenty of other things to offer.

Isn’t gw2community on european servers only?

TT and Tequatl are on the schedule of most major Guilds.
Piken Square Dragon Hunters do it regularly and I completed all the achis with them.
Check their website and schedule for easy kills.

Most important, people need to understand that the most and actually the only inaccessible content is the Raids, everything else in the game is easily PuGable over LFG.
