This is something that bothers me a lot.

Tequatl is a pretty tough world boss for randoms to put together a group and win. It needs some communication and planning, but players have gotten pretty good at it and can pub it pretty well. It’s in a good place for a “medium difficulty boss”.

Tequatl rewards:

  • Chances at:
    • Ascended Weapon
    • Unique Ascended Weapon Skinset
    • Some cool minis
  • 13k Karma Consumables (and 8+ Events)
  • 2g
  • 4 Champ Boxes
  • 4 Guaranteed Rares (or Better)
  • ~20 Guaranteed Greens (or Better)

Triple Trouble is a very difficult event, requiring at a minimum 90 organized players properly geared out for DPS with the skillset to perform a number of roles, including egg blocking, condi team, and mechanics teams for each wurm. Triple Trouble also has much tougher time limits, coordination requirements for decapitations, and more. I would easily label this as a “hard difficulty boss”.

Triple Trouble Rewards

  • Changes at:
    • Ascended Armor Chest
    • Regurgitated Ascended Armor Chest
    • A cool mini
    • A rifle skin
  • No Karma Consumables (and 4 Events)
  • 2g
  • 5 Champ Boxes
  • 4 Guaranteed Rares (or Better)
  • 12 Guaranteed Greens (or Better)

Something is seriously wrong here. Why isn’t Triple Trouble rewarding karma consumables in excess of what Tequatl rewards considering it’s harder content? Why is it rewarding the same amount of gold for a much more difficult event? Why do we get fewer greens, which results in less gold or less luck or less mats or whatever?

The Triple Trouble event should reward:

  • ~20k Karma Consumables
  • ~10 more Greens
  • ~2 more Rares
  • ~2 more Champ Boxes
  • ~1g more

..of course the numbers are debatable, but it needs some kind of improvement considering the difficulty of the content.

Maybe this could be reworked to be more similar to how Teq’s rewards work? Instead of getting a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Wurm chest, you get all three as personal reward chests, in addition to the map chest for successfully completing the event. This also allows the option to put rewards in each chest without having to worry about overflowing a character’s inventory.

I think this idea requires more data on what is actually contained in the Bronze/Silver chests and adjusting this accordingly, as there’s no data for this on the wiki, but this could be the vehicle that can be used for improving the rewards.

I actually think that’s a really good idea, okalevi. Having it so that you are rewarded the bronze, silver, and gold chests could be a great way to help balance out the rewards and make doing TT feel worth it. I also think, at a minimum, that karma consumables need to be added to the chests. Such minimal karma from TT really feels awful.

THW rewards have always been crap for the level of effort.

To make things worse the ‘wiggly’ chest (the one you see in the lower-right of your screen) with the 5 champ bags has been bugged (does not appear) for many months. ANET refuses to acknowledge the problem, claiming they ‘fixed’ it.

The problem is worse for players doing specialty roles. When I am blocking eggs on my guardian, it is extremely rare for me to get this chest because I cannot attack the other mobs while blocking eggs. I only attack the wurm head during vulnerability phases and this is considered a ‘structure’ in phase 1. Only in phase 2 does it become an actual mob for the purpose of loot drops.

When I am on my necro in the condition party killing husks, I miss out on this chest around 30-40% of the time. Seems killing husks does not ‘count’ towards receiving this chest. If I attack the vet wurm spawns as well, then the chest is more likely to appear.

So, I usually get the bag from the wurm head in phase 2 and the big daily chest, while missing out on half the listed rewards most of the time.

I don’t know what drops Triple Trouble gives since I have never beaten it. Then again, I’m not in TTS guild, so that means I’m never going to find out.

Making the loot drops higher for what is well accepted to be a “guild world boss” seems to only push people more towards joining a megaguild, so to speak. I think that boss needs some reworking, joining TTS or praying to the overflow gods shouldn’t be a requirement for an achievement tree

I don’t think Teq is worth doing anymore with the high failure rate, especially when the drop is worst then Karka and that is 100% success rate and takes 2 minute.

O,o i’m sad about your server. In mine Tequatl dies 7 times per day… every day. We didn’t failed in 9 months. Gotta love the spanish teamspeak community

Let’s talk about “worth” as you said. The Lover Precursor dropped for me 5 days ago in Tequatl ^^

I like your suggestion a lot okalevi. I would get behind that. Please Anet, make Triple Trouble more worth doing. As it is right now, I do Teq on all my 4 80’s for the ground chest, but I only do the wurm once because the loot is too crappy for the effort.

Lately, I have been keeping an eye on how many people join on TTS’ TeamSpeak for Tequatl and Wurm raids. People have just been up and leaving after being done with Tequatl – a boss which does not even require TeamSpeak anymore. It’s probably because the Wurm is not worth the effort. I’ve been doing the Wurm every day for a very long time and I have only gotten ONE ascended armor chest from it. Not only would I like better loot for the Wurm, but I’d also like to be able to collect the ground chest on several characters, just like with Tequatl.

I’m not saying Teq isn’t killed often, I’m just saying is it worth it, the length of time and you won’t always be successful. Vs Karka which is a guaranteed kill.

That goes back to is Triple worth it…no. Because Teq & Karka drops are just as good.

The random teq runs I’ve seen have about a 50% success rate. It’s really not that bad any more. Most organized ones just don’t fail much.

I tried the wurm lately, and then facepalmed at how awful the rewards are for the time spent to organize.

Exactly, Anet might as well nerf Triple difficulty level. At least this way, other players would join in on this achievement.
