Turn wings into gliders
The Guild Wars 2 forums never ceases to entertain me. Thanks for the read.
We have our own perspectives and views on what we like, obviously. Just because someone does this, doesn’t mean they’re being edgy or trying to be the “god of death”. Maybe it fits their appearance or they don’t have a backpack that fits. I have shadow abyss and black wings. I used to hate it and how mainstream it is, literally everyone running around with wings cluttering the screen up.
Not everything has to be in place. You can make a character look like a complete hipster from our modern world. You have aviators, sun glasses, wide rim glasses. People running around with bunny ears.
To each his own. Keep an open mind. Have a nice day. c:
I don’t have a strong distaste for them but I agree that they look ridiculous, especially in areas where you can’t glide.
The first time I saw someone wearing them I assumed it was one of those novelty gem store items, like ear muffs and Santa hats, which may not have been the dev’s intention.
So for me it’s not a show-stopper but I would certainly prefer gliders to look like they are capable of gliding and also for them to be stowed when not in use.
I find anyone in game sporting big wings to be… weird and ugly.
But then again, this is MMO so I would have to deal with it. It’s not just what I want, it’s also what they want. And they want to use the big ugly wings, so I just have to ignore it.
To each their own. Why do others have to conform to your likes and dislikes? If you don’t like it, don’t wear it.
Also, why would wings as gliders be suddenly not as out of place as when you’re wearing them? If you say people don’t have wings in GW2 because it doesn’t fit, they shouldn’t have them magically appear for gliding either.
When doing fractales and PJ’s, those godkitten wings block my view if another player wears them, most of the time.
I also think they look ridiculous and perfectly out of place in the GW2 lore (since there is no angel and gods don’t have such kittenty wings), but hey, who am I to judge ? The guild initiative is already wearing current real world military outfit in a steampunk universe.
I think they are destroying more and more the immersion in this game.
while I agree, the wings look rubbish, and people looking like demons with the title dark traveller make me laugh, I’m not even going to say get rid of them, just because I don’t think they look good, other people do, and that’s fine. I’ll just sit here and think how silly they look. As I’m sure they do when they see my rev in mistward armor, “Oh look a Rev clone!”

I didn’t like wings at first either(though never wanted them gone), until I bought them. Now I love them. But I can’t see any justification for removing them, they aren’t offensive and they are no more an impairment to vision than some big norn or charr standing on you (bookahs, pft). Now give me my bunny ears so can be an angel bunny’sura, that should drive even more people nutsies.
For me a two edged sword: Yes, I think they look ridiculous, it’s stupid and surreal, especially the small wings and holographic wings which are so popular and I don’t get it. It looks stupid and attached and still so many run around with it.
Anyway, the angel wings and bat wings are far less bad imo, they are very well designed and you can use them to glide.
