• Play Clockwork Chaos content for a chance at the exotic Twisted Watchwork Portal Device Recipe.
• The recipe requires a level 400 artificer. The ingredients are 50 Watchwork Sprockets, 50 Bowls of Salsa, 1 Unidentified Dye, and 1 Glob of Dark Matter.
• The Twisted Watchwork Portal Device is a single-use consumable that teleports the user to a random place in Tyria. The destination may be very rewarding, very dangerous, both, or anywhere in between.

This really gets me hyped, discuss! Let’s see how rewarding it can actually be!

I can’t imagine it will be rewarding enough to cover the cost of 50 bowls of salsa, especially after the thousand or so on the TP get blown through.

It’ll probably port you to either the top of a JP or next to a chest guarded by a Champion. Can’t think of anywhere else it could take you unless they’ve created new areas specifically for the Portal Device.

Gonna stockpile aload of these and start randomly porting myself all over tyria!! heres to hoping for some nice secret areas =D

gonna be funny when it ports you to edges of maps that are not normally able to get to, then you just keep going. would be fun to start in LA, swim accross the ocean, walk through a deserted orr, take a left, bazaar is still in full swing and no one is invited, etc.

I doubt it is fully random. More likely to be similar to Portmatt’s puzzle.

Don’t buy them, they are not worth it. Bought around 30, 5 of them didn’t work, the rest I was ported to areas multiple times, and none of these areas were memorable at all.

maybe sometimes it’ll be like Chaos Crystal Cavern exit? drops you 10,000 feet above a lake. except sometimes you have to aim for a barrel of water to not splat

I used one and it knocked me flat on my back in the spot I was standing and didn’t teleport me anywhere. It was just a 5 second knockdown or something like that…

Bought another one to try and got the same thing. It knocks me down, a portal appears, I don’t get teleported, and i wasted the money on it. GG.

One ported me to a vista I already had in Caledon forest. Another ported me to a random spot in the air in the Black Citadel. Two didn’t port me anywhere. Those two were used in towns. The other 2 were not.

i have used about 20, 10-15 of them sent me to random vistas all over the world the rest to just random locations for example ..
- top of a mountain (nothing at all there)
- into a random cave (again, nothing)
- the middle of the black citadel
and so on .. am sure you get the general idea

What was this Glob of Dark Matter? Is it coming back?

Anyone else experiencing the “It throws you flat on your back” problem?

Yeah, I used it and I just got thrown to the ground, and didn’t go anywhere.

Edit: Mine was used in LA, so I guess if you use it in a city it doesn’t port?

Guessing: The most rewarding…. A mystical island in the mists that have troves of chests to open. You have 10 seconds to open as many as you can.

The most dangerous: Ported to Zhaitans dining room table while he is eating dinner. He looks at you like..Uh? And you have 10 seconds to GTFO!

Yeah it seems main city use just throws you to the ground, use them only in explorable areas

I also got knocked down and not teleported, from Gendarran Fields. Word has it that if you have a single portal device in a stack, it doesn’t work. What a waste; I wanted to try it.

I droped 1, tried it out and all it did was knock me on my kitten . I dropped another and tried it again and all it did was knock me on my kitten . Junk!

I used it as well. All it gave was a four-second stun to my character. What a sick joke.

Same thing here; got all excited, and all it did was giving me a lousy stun.

Worst item ever.

Based on the Wiki (and tests made by myself) it seems like it will always fail if it is the last item in a stack.
So in order for it to work you need to have at least 2.

An epic fail of a bag slot.
Looted one, used it few days later, got knocked down & that was it.
Hell, could`ve jumped off of a cliff for more excitement.

Apparently there’s a bug that if you have one it does nothing but knock you down..if you have more than one, the others take you somewhere.

However, where they take you is to a random vista, POI or the end of a jumping puzzle.

Worth it? I think not.

This is all unfortunate to hear.

Fools! It doesn’t knock you to the ground. It breaks your body down into microscopic particles, transports them around the world to a completely random RNG-based place on Tyria, and rematerializes you nearly instantaneously. You’ve just had the bad luck to be transported to the exact same spot you started from. The 4s stun is simply the after-effects of being broken down and rematerialized. Hope you enjoyed your trip around the world.

I actually DID get transported about 100 feet from the ground in Sparkfly. Near where Teq spawns.

In before thread complaining about how twisted watch work portals are a waste of money.

Got a Portal Device as a drop from Scarlet’s Invasion today. Used it and it ported me to the end of Spelunker’s Delve jumping puzzle. And hadn’t completed it before. Not bad for a freebie

You know… I’d completely forgotten about this… thanks for the thread resurrect! I wonder if I have the recipe? I also wonder if I could use fish fingers and custard instead of salsa and dark matter…

Still a bit of a waste of money, but if you ’re lucky wonders happen.

Is there like a “best thing” you can get ported to with this?
