Some of you fail to even read what I wrote, or maybe you just cannot comprehend English.

I am not asking for, nor expecting, instant success.
I am not saying it should be easy.
I am not saying I want to stand around and spam 1 (in fact I do like a good challenge).
I am saying THERE IS NO HELP IN GAME ON WHAT TO DO.
I am saying THERE IS TONS OF LAG DUE TO REQUIREMENT ON HAVING 100 PEOPLE PLUS 100 CONSTANTLY SPAWNING MOBS.
I am saying IT WAS IRRITATING INSTEAD OF FUN.

Do you get it yet? Or is it just beyond you?

And we’re saying you don’t need help. Figure it out. That’s what people did when Teq came out. It’s not that hard. It will just take some time to get a bit coordinated. Have a bit of kitten patience.

The lag is something you’re going to have to deal with. It’s a new event and there will even more people around than usual.

Actually it is required to have at least a hundred people, or it will fail.

I have not found any info on Dulfy about the wurm event. Can anyone post a link?

I would like if there were pre-events like in orr. It takes a long time to get to balth for example, but it’s active time.

I find that 90% of the time I learn what to do from Dulfy. I think that’s a mistake of design. I should be able to figure it out from clues left around the world.

Also, once again, they’ve added a level of unnecessary grind to draw out the path to a pitiful reward. (not that I know what the reward is history suggests)

90% of the time, I do find stuff out from clues in the world. I finished what was going on today without ever accessing Dulfy. I’m 7 out of 11 on the meta, I’ve been to Scarlet’s lair, got a bunch of loot (it was pretty cool) and didn’t look at Scarlet once.

Dulfy and sites like it are going to be there from now on. People can choose to look or choose not to look.

They’re not that hard to figure out… I just wish that:
1. there was a bit fewer adds (they don’t kill me, just block the kitten screen!)
2. there was more time to attack the wurm when he’s vulnerable (First try I was out at a color station when he turned vulnerable and he had his shield back up by the time I got back to him)
3. he was a bit more friendly to melee… this ties into #2 as well. One AoE around the worm to dodge and your time fighting him is pretty much over.
4. the targeting worked a bit better… even when his shield was down I could not target the worm, it kept trying to target larvae.
5. that you could attempt it more than once every 2 kitten ed hours! I run an escort mission successfully, and the kitten ed mission is starting back up again as soon as I finish. I fail to kill a worm, and the worm disappears for 2 freakin hours? How many hours a day are you expecting people to play to be able to down the marionette before that event is over?

That’s great Vayne. I have 1 – 2 hours to play in the evening. I do not play all day long. Where is the Dulfy help on the wurms? No one posted a link yet.

You need to wait until Dulfy finishes a guide for this living story. Like how to collect all those fragment kitten to get to that thing and so on

I have not found any info on Dulfy about the wurm event. Can anyone post a link?

I find that 90% of the time I learn what to do from Dulfy.

These snippets are indicative of something that seems to have become a big problem for the game. A lot of the challenge of figuring out how to defeat something has been outsourced to Dulfy, and the community seems to be okay with this. Thus, ArenaNet can safely assume that “everyone reads Dulfy” when designing their content.

In other words… the strategy guide has become required reading, and that seems to have affected the design process.

This patch is terrible, and it has brought to a head the past few LS updates and the problems associated not only with anet development but the game in general. But i can tell you right now OP, there’s no sense in complaining about it because alot of people are going to vehemently defend it.

I’ve moved on from it, i suggest you do to. There is so many things we WANT to see from this game because the game itself has soooo much potential that is just being wasted on this scarlet stuff. But its been made painfully clear that there is no clear direction for this game, i prefer to move to a game where I actually get some enjoyment.

From my perspective, it’s not so much the lack of help. I actually really love the process of learning and fine-tuning encounters.

The problem lies within open world “endgame raid bosses” where zones are limited to X players, there tons of randoms around that don’t necessarily care/try/play well, and many, many other factors that influence the success of said boss.

If they put this or even Teq in a 25-40man instance, I think we would have many more people banding together in guilds and raiding the content often. Instead. we have lagfest clusterkittens in the open world that are oftentimes just demoralizing to be a part of.

Wurm could have been an instanced “raid” so people could coordinate better. It’s not like GW2 isn’t instanced as hell already.

This whole Real Guild Wars 2 vs. Overflow Guild Wars 2 shows a level of ineptitude on the part of ArenaNet because they keep doubling down on events like this.

The whole spawning 10000 Champions until they get culled out and peoples skill bars stop working. It’s irresponsible and bad design. It leaves people asking the all too popular question of “Does ArenaNet even play their own game?”.

I don’t mind failing at a task, what I don’t like is not being given a fair chance to be successful.

I really have no desire to try Wurm or Marionette again because I’ll most likely get dumped into some kitten end overflow of people that aren’t coordinated and players can’t take it upon themselves to clearly coordinate on their end.

GGs.

ArenaNet does NOT play Guild Wars 2. This can’t be.

I think everything the op has complained about has been invalidated over the duration of this post, but I do have 1 issue that has been resounding in this thread and many others.

Overflows and timegates make these sort of events frustrating. It is clear that we are meant to be coordinated in these fights, meaning we need a group of people to have comms with and be on the same map. However, when there’s a a problem with the game (eg not being able to use skills) and I do a quick log, apparently I can’t get back in to the same fight and get placed in an overflow. Due to the hardcap on map, I can’t even get ferried in.

So here’s what happened. I spent 2 hours waiting in a map so I stick with the same group, strategize, prep our teams, start the fight, have to relog or be useless, and miss out on the whole fight. There’s 3 hours of my time gone due to poor in game mechanics and overflow\timegates.

Tldr

If anet wants us to be in large groups and be organized, they need to give us clear and effective ways to do so. Making changes to overflow and time gates may fix it, but I’m unsure at this point.

If you want to complain that it takes too many people to kill, that’s a legit complaint. They probably should work on that. But seriously, we don’t need more “help” from Anet in game for this.

I fail to see how any part of my post has been invalidated. Your opinion aside.

So, thank you ANet for making content confusing, unfun and only for massive BG guilds and players who can sit at their computer for 3-5 hours at a stretch. Thanks a lot.

Has anyone actually considered that maybe a lot of people flock to Dulfy’s site and other similar sites for guides because ANet has quick turn around on a lot of their content?

Players only have a limited amount of playing time and if the content is going to be pulled in 2 weeks, they better hurry up and finish it! There is no waiting around, figuring it out. That requires time.

Indeed. Also, Dulfy gets her information from within the game as well – so there’s that.

I have to admit that there is one thing that is completely off (despite defending ANet this whole thread): if this content is supposed to be “designed for coordinated groups” why don’t people have a way to create an overflow for our coordinated group? It does make the whole “coordinated” argument that they propose sound like a complete lie (actually, let me restate that – it is a lie).

The wurms are permanent content. They’re here for good. There is zero rush to run out and do the wurms.

People are saying it’s living story content, but the achievements aren’t centered around the wurm. There’s only one wurm achievement, and everything else is the temporary marionette content.

But it’s really not that hard because, get this….when you log in you get an in game mail showing you exactly where to go to start the wurm and the marionette.

Maybe your mailbox was full?

So you want them to hold your hands? You are meant to figure out the correct strategy. With time people will start to realize this isn’t your typical zerg stand still and press #1 boss like shatterer and is more like Teq where you actually need to coordinate. Once people figure that out and figure out a strat things will go more smoothly. From what I’ve heard it’s not a hard boss. It just will take some practice.

I’m both hands up for what you said, figuring the best strategy on your own makes the reward and the achievement itself so much better BUT ….. that 15 minute timer on every god kitten world boss is super annoying. Even if you are good player and you do everything right, you are being punished for every nubcake in your server.

Now I get it that twitch-based/action combat is not for everyone, and I don’t blame them they play the game the way they find it fit and fun and this is why we play games and all but …. the timers kill any immersion :/ And also makes it impossible for lower populated servers to do it right.

Not to mention that all this timer does is to force people go in berserker so they would shred the mobs before the timer runs out. And then you guys (ANet) wonder why nobody is going for condition/cc builds and everyone jumps into the berserker train. Yup, nerfing critical damage won’t change anything but make your lame timers more viable. Which IMO is very bad mechanic, I don’t know hwo you came up with that, it wasn’t like that at launch and mobs had AI at beta. I don’t know what changed but I want pre-release ANet ideas >.>
