So after 4 living world updates we do not have a new pve zone, we do not have emergent A.I. We dont have destructable environments. No housing and no guild halls. To be fair we do have 1 zone that has been re-skinned (lions arch) and we have a new world boss that you get to stand around for an hour trying to get into an overflow for a chance at some blues and greens. Also it looks like we have another of these world bosses on the way.

Now I know, I know the feature patch coming in April is still to come. And I know they didnt promise the living story would bring new gameplay, but they sure made it sound like it would and now its over. So my question is when is my core going to start feeling some tremors around here.

Also I would like to suggest that you, ANET, be better about advertising your content. It would have been nice to know back in December that no new pve zones, game play mechanics, or player generated content would be coming out until April.

Why would they do that? That would only encourage less people to play.

They’ve got until April to deliver some goods.

Its rude to not respect peoples time. Their content should stand on its own without hype. I believe there are plenty of kids (even some adults who are new to video games) out there who have enjoyed this content, because they have never seen or expirenced anything like this. But for those of us who have been around games for a long time this is old hat, and it would have been nice to know that ahead of time. As opposed to telling us that one of the living world patches would bring the things I listed above in my orginal post.

Yep. I’ve already promised myself to shelf the game for good if nothing meaningful comes out of this. I barely play at all anymore anyway. Love the basic gameplay but the content is just not up to par.

You point out that it is rude not to respect other’s time. Yet you show no respect for their time and effort.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Guys you saw the video after killing Scarlet?

I guess you can await a new zone or new zones in the Northwest of the continent after the evil from underneath will escape to the surface.

Yes i would say Tyria was rocked to the core but that the way of setting up for the next LS or the next arc did you think that arc 1 would end with a boss from arc 2?

Am i rocked?
Nope, not really…

the whole mystery about her “true” goal felt so unneccery that now that it concluded with the “big reveal” i felt absolutely nothing.

All the build up of the character went down the drain in one single swoop, as she just dies.
Sure we kill her, but after she was hyped up so much. That there is something more. That she is tragic. That she is controlled. That anything is just did not pay off…

After the boring zergy braindead bossfight i just could not muster any energy for what happened here.

Sure, a new big baddie is on the horizon, but it continues where the old LS left off. Hurray for more Sylvary…

We have known for months that these last patches were to be “story only”, and still we got EotM and a new world boss. What’s the complaint again?

Nahh, I was hoping killing scarlet would at least be an instanced “dungeon” like molten facility or aetherblade retreat, but all I’ve seen in the last few months is zerg zerg zerg zerg zerg. I just hope that in the future they cater just a little to the more serious players (dungeons, fractals, sPvP, even WvW). I mean, I’m not even talking about hardcore here, just ppl with a brain.

If they don’t make the content accessible to the Lowest Common Denominator they’ll see a loss in profits. Hence all the open world 1 pushing zergs. Now buy more gems.

You have gotten what you paid for, all that remains is biweekly gemshop pushing.

also, I’m pretty sure that Anet never stated they would introduce a new explorable zone with these last few living story patches…and after watching the awesome cutscene, it looks like theres gonna be 3 new explorable zones.
And also, the environment IS destructible. Do you notice how in parts of Queensdale and Kessex Hills, Harathi Hinterlands, whenever you fail to defend a camp from an enemy invasion, they almost destroy it and the tents are on fire and some buildings are completely ruined. Also, in Kessex Hills, I’m pretty theres an event where you have to stop either the krait or centaurs from bombing a town

tbh id rather give them 60 bucks to make a new and mindblowingly awesome expansion then i would care for suboptimal free content. Free content does not work.. they cannot provide a true expansion like how blizzard does for instance and not charge money, never gonna happen. The business model now will always mean small updates like the LS system. I still cant understand why they chose this format. Im pretty kitten sure they’d sell a couple million expansions just as they did the original game.

I think a lot of people are starting to lean that way.

It’s also frustrating because the whole “cosmetic end-game” essentially revolves around the gem store.

By lot of people you must mean the ones that frequent the forums saying how much they hate the LS? Because really everyone else that enjoys it is in the game playing, which seems to be enough people to produce plenty of overflows. So really this does not make any sense at all. I for one hate the model of waiting 1- 2 years for an expansion, to then spend 60$ play it for a month have all the content beat and then waiting another 1-2 years.

The amount of content that we have received in the past year has made me see that the bi-weekly updates are the way to go. I love knowing that new stuff is coming out every two weeks. I for one do not need a new zone, class, or race to realize that we are still getting new content every two weeks.

But again you can hope all you want for an expansion that costs $60 and that we receive every 1-2 years. For this game that is not going to happen, this business model has been working fine and is still working fine. If that does not suit your tastes time to move on and open up a spot on one of the events for people that actually enjoy playing.

And I know they didnt promise the living story would bring new gameplay, but they sure made it sound like it would and now its over.

Actually they came right out and said it wouldn’t provide new features. And that the features are coming in the feature patch which would be after the LS1 ends, and after a short break. In the amount of time it took you to write the original post you could have read the article that was released showing all this information. Don’t hate on a company that tells you there won’t be new features during a certain patch, and when that patch happens there are no new features. Common sense just doesn’t seem to be common anymore.

We will receive expansion type content, that is part of an update. Not a box you have to go out and buy and install. It will just be a large free update to the game.

I haven;t touched LS since Tequati, I couldn’t care any less what’s happening in Lion’s Arch.
I’d be impressed far more if they released a new PvE map, or a new hard dungeon, or new USABLE skills.

Why any player deserves or has the right to know about the content of future releases is beyond me.

Actually, disclosing elements of future releases is, and Anet know this and this is why they are quite transparent about upcoming mechanic changes, often trailing them months ahead.

Content is more complex, and not necessarily about transparency (though it factors in), but Anet’s failure to outline their plans (very different to say, Blizzard with WoW, or Trion with Rift, both of whom give broad content outlines many months ahead) is making people wary of investing further time and money into GW2, I would suggest.

I couldn’t agree with you more.

I used to support GW2 and purchased tons of stuff from the gem shop.

But, With the current path the game is on and any real lack of direction from the development team I will not spend another dime until I see the balance patch.

The next balance patch pretty much will give me an idea of were Anet is going with this game and if i continue to play/support it or not.

Personal Story, Expansion, New Armor, New Crafting, Extended Level, Awesome Skills, New DEs, etc. etc.

Fact is, there will always be people who will not like stuff, new and/or old. Some loves P.S. (me included and many of my guildies and friends do), some hate it with a passion. That’s natural: some likes red, others hate it, some likes chocolates, some despise it.

Some likes permanent contents, some hated it (i.e. non WvWvW people hated EotM), some loves temporary contents because it makes things more exclusive and feels more special, however, some hated it because they’ll miss out. Some complained how this game is so hard, while others are laughing so hard how easy this game is.

So….there will always be two (or more) sides to the story. If you’re on the part that hates/dislikes it, then you’re SoL. If you’re on the part that’s been having all the fun, then good for you.

In the end, if things really don’t bode well for you, my suggestion is to move on. Because there will always be people who likes what you don’t like and vice versa.
