U.S Server Times
BALANCE, BUG-FIXING, POLISH
General
The in-game clock’s server time feature is now displayed in UTC time and is now much more accurate to the server’s actual time. Daily resets will now occur at midnight as it appears when the clock is set to server time.

There is your heads-up. The times were changed to be more accurate. Server time used to be Pacific Time (which only served the far West of the US), now it’s UTC. You can always use local time, instead.
Bottom line – they can’t please everyone.
The only time standard I know how to convert into my own time is GMT, which is never used. I know UTC is the most commonly used worldwide, but I have no clue how it works.
And I’ve just now learnt that UTC and GMT are mostly interchangeable -cries-.
How are the current server times more accurately portraying N.A. Times. Why not set specific timezones for each server instead of phoning it in and setting all servers on a Universal time like they did. The truth is that they don’t put much thought into the long term actions they are making. Updates with constant glitches aside. I need to be able to coordinate not only my guild events/missions/meetings, but soon I will need to coordinate WvW operations for multiple guilds working together and this server time stuff is not making things easy to understand or explain to 400+ members whose ranks are in constant flux with new recruits and old ones leaving. Guild leaders are the backbone to the game in the long run, it would be nice if they started making things easier on us, giving the ability to see the activity of members in the roster is nice, but we still need some more guild management functions and abilities allowing us easier ways to rally our guild in specific maps. I could go on but this reply is long enough already. Thanks for reading and replying if u choose to

Since you’re just about never on your actual server now, how on earth could they display a local server?
I simply leave my clock on -my- local time (Eastern). Since they announce ANet event stuff as happening Pacific time anyway, I can add 3 hours to it to know my own time and there’s no other math involved.
I’m not sure why you would think having the Server time be one of the 5 possible NA timezones serves the global game better than UTC. If it were an NA time, it would be confusing for everyone outside that particular timezone. UTC, at least, is what reset has always been based on, so it seems as good of a timezone as any. As always, you can set your clock to local time, and convert to Pacific Time if you so desire. Windows has a built-in time converter in the Date/Time part of the system tray, as well, so there’s that for easy conversions. =)
OP, one thread on this topic wasn’t enough for you? Why not just post more on the thread you already started concerning the exact same subject, instead of starting it all over again?

Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.
