Moderators are seemingly closing down/merging most threads and now simply shoving them into one giant messy pile.

Eventually it becomes really confusing and whatever the OT was about becomes buried. Examples of this is all over the place now in almost all sections of this forum.

These uber threads become so bloated that nothing really comes out of it. It’s like a literay blackhole where all thoughts, complaints, and such are crushed.

When I come to think of it, this is the perfect way to sweep issues under the carpet; posters get so annoyed they might give up eventually.

I have been on many many many forums over the years and I have never seen anything quite like it. I picture a mod with a shovel, digging up all threads with vague similiarities, and effectively burying the issues at hand in one giant pit.

Some of these threads could fill a whole novel, maybe even a trilogy worth of words. It would take you days to go through it, if they actually do read it. But since it’s all these threads merged together, they make absolutely no sense what so ever after a while.

Such an interesting tactic, I must say.

Guess its a great way to clean up a forum but on the other hand its not so good for discussing things.

Thoughts?

I actually think quite the opposite. I think a single thread with over 9k views has much more impact.

well yeah it is a good way to sweep up negative thoughts. though there have been a very large amount of threads opening up rapidly, and had someone not merged them all, it surely would have eaten up the first few pages in the general discussion area. so i can see it being innocentish

Edit: also the post above me has a good point

While I don’t believe there’s a conspiracy to silence dissent, I can’t see how jumbling a ton of unrelated topics together really makes things easier to handle.

I think they either need to find a better way of merging threads, or stop doing it altogether, simply because the end result is such a mess. you can’t follow a thread like that, not with the many OPs and their replies shuffled throughout the myriad of posts in the original thread they were merged with.

I for one would not even bother reading through 9k posts all mushed together. I prefer to find a topic about a particular issue’s nusances and go from there. Uber threads just makes things really confusing. Maybe it’s just me.

Like it could be the title of the thread that starts it all, but it gets merged thus the title is lost. It’s a very strange way to moderate.

Wondering if this is tactic to confuse issues or just simpy trying to save space on a forum. I dunno. That’s why I made this thread…

I understand why they move the threads – this forum would be total chaos without it.

But mashing the threads together makes conversation and actual discussion in those topics nigh impossible, since at any time a whole new thread will be merged and everything jumbled.

if they created a subforum that could be an alternative solution and just stashed all the topics there

Hello,

Threads are being merged/locked to keep the forums clear, so our community and devs teams can easily read it, and take care of your main concerns and issues.

If you have any questions regarding forums moderation, you can send an e-mail to forums@arena.net, and your question will be looked into.

Please not that merging/locking threads make it easier for you to see if your issue has already been discussed
