Un-interested in Incinerator, want to swap.
highly doubt they would ever do such a thing seeing as how half the crafting process is completely different. Heres some alternatives
Assuming you already have the gifts of fortune and mastery…
If you have not obtained the precursor and gift of incinerator you can go for bifrost instead. Fortune and mastery are required for every legendary.
If you have the precursor but not worked on the gift of incinerator, you can sell Spark, and buy The legend, then work on the gift of bifrost.
If you already have the gift of incinerator, Id say just finish it, sell it and buy bifrost.

Yeah I have everything apart from the Precursor (typical) and about 17% map completion left to do.
How do I go about selling it, though? Do I just list it for 1G cheaper and pray to god someone buys it within a week? Is there a place I can take a look at the volume of Incinerators bought and sold and for what price…same for Bifrost?
Thanks for the suggestions though but I feel like I’m in too deep.

I would suggest you post it a little cheaper, then the last seller if you want and early primetime is your best bet as this is when the most people are on. Im NA EST, so primetime here is around 7-8pm. And legendaries are not sold in high volumes, so even if someone undercuts you, its not like your going to be buried under thousands of sellers like you would with crafting mats. I would say, if you have the gift of incinerator you might want to go ahead and finish it, and heck just flip for profit and not even make bifrost, keep the gold if you want, up to you.
Also legendaries can very easily sell in a matter of hours, so dont worry to much.

I guess what you’re saying is right, but I definitely want Bifrost, so selling for small profit is out of the question.
Does Arena-Net ever do Middle-man sort of things? Like if I found an agreeing party is there any way without even trading they could just remove our weapons and trade them over sort of thing? I know I’m asking a lot lol but I’m somewhat desperate.
no they do not endorse nor get involved in player trading, thats what the trading post is for. You assume all risks if you attempt anything like that. Dont act out of desperation, to many people get burned and scammed. Technically you can trade with someone through mail, but its highly discouraged to do this, because there is no guarantee you will recieve anything back, and anet will not replace your item, even if your scammed, and that person is banned/suspended for scamming, your item will not be replaced.
You would be surprised at how low people will sink over virtual items…dont put yourself in that situation.

I wouldn’t go first in that case lol and I’d be too afraid to get banned, I’l talk a look around but with very low hopes of finding anything or anyone, but who knows I might make incinerator and get a precursor giving me all the money I need to sell it and buy Bifrost, you never know!
My advice is make and flip the incinerator and start over working on a bifrost, at the very least it gives you something new to work on, and you can make a nice profit off the incinerator. At least you wont have to map everything again, you get 2 gifts of exploration per world completions, so that part would already be done.
But again, do your best to avoid player to player trading, many people get burned and that anger, frustration, and wasted time because some scumbag wanted to scam you is not worth it.

Don’t worry I’d never go first, but this whole thing just makes me wonder…what the the actual point of a mail system if we’re not allowed to trade? Sending items only? SURELY they must have known people would want to trade off the trading post seeing how it costs a lot for the bigger items.
it allows you to send messages to people offline, so they can read it when they login, also its used for ingame mail. It can be convenient for sending items, for example a commander in wvw running out of siege, or a dungeon group needing consumables etc. Like anything there is always potential for abuse. The good thing is at least, its all choice.

You absolutely can use mail to sell whatever you want. The company however has clearly stated they will not compensate losses but will take action against the one who did the scam. They also don’t allow/want forums or LFG to be used for sales.
Oh! I’m not looking to sell it right here on the forum! I was just wondering if there was a safe place to swap!
I didn’t want it to seem as if I was selling at all, my bad!
And no I won’t abuse the LFG to try and find a swap either but I’l look around definitely.
I have been in this situation before, and asked anet about it.
It’s not possible. Best way is to sell your incinerator when you get it. And farm the rest gold you need to buy bifrost. While you farm you can place a buy offer.
I was lucky to get Twilight pretty cheap on a buy offer actually.
Best choice is to finish it up and sell it on the TP. You will already have a second world exploration gift since you get 2 per completion. You will have enough money to straight up buy the gift of fortune and the legend, you will just need to get more stuff for the gift of mastery.
Take advantage of the log in reward final chest to get mystic clovers and obsidian shards.
Arenanet will never-ever assist you in bypassing the TP for trades. That’s just a big no-no for them. Your choices are to find a reliable middle-man player (good luck!) or to use the TP.

You can use gw2spidy.com to view trading post history. It will not tell you if an item definitely sold, but shows a graph of buy orders and sell orders, and you make your own assumptions from there. With the high listing fee of legendaries, I assume most sell offers actually sell, and are not relisted frequently. Do some reasearch before just undercutting the lowest seller. Sometimes people list these things a bit low to get rid of them quickly.
I sold the Dreamer twice. Both times it sold over a weekend, so I’d say listing on a Thursday evening/some time Friday is best. It can take a few hours to sell, or it can take a week or more. It really depends on how many people undercut you. One of my Dreamers took a little over a week because each time mine was next for sale, a new one would pop up for 1 gold less. That was really frustrating!
