Amusingly, since armor does not show through outfits you can not have the pirate outfit and eyepatch visible at the same time

Mix and Match needs to be a thing again. These outfits are still incredibly un-fun when we can’t customize them at all.

Mix & Match is a thing…for armor skins. The entire rationale behind outfits is defeated if you enable them to be mixed and matched: they don’t have to ‘work’ with any other armor and only have four dye channels. Some of us like the no-muss|no-fuss aspect: you can put an outfit on a new character and not have to worry about skins as you swap in new gear.
is the Captain’s Airship Pass even worth it?

If you stay on top of a pile of gold, yes.

Depends on how you value things.
I have the Royal Terrace one. I open my inventory and use it to jump to Divinities Reach at no waypoint cost from anywhere in the non instanced PvE world. Once there, there are crafting tables and their NPCs, banks, Trading post, Guild NPCs. Guild bank, regular merchant, Laurel merchant, portal to all the other cities and a Mystic forge with its NPC. All within a few feet of each other. It’s a great convenience item.
ANet may give it to you.

Not for me, because you can’t get back to the place from where you used the pass to enter the ship, iirc. So basically you are just saving a loading screen: You already can travel for free from anywhere to Lion’s Arch, and for free to any big town from there.
If you want to try it out before buying the permanent one, buy one of the low cost one use passes and give it a look-see.
