What do players think of this.
I avoid it as far as possible simply because it seems totally unbalanced, in that 1/2 of your weapons dont even work, but the mobs that you have to fight do just as much damage as they do on the land.
Its like you are fighting with one hand tied behind your back.
If you are a light armor wearer its pretty hopeless.

I wish it had been implemented better/improved instead of abandoned by Anet. It’s interesting, but between the limited weapon choices and few underwater skills with no real intuitive mechanic for handling AOEs and z axis combat it really just comes across as feeling unfinished to me.

I like it and it’s very easy. Most people seem to have problem with z-axis. There are a lot of skills that don’t work, which sucks, but doesn’t mean it’s unplayable. I even have an underwater legendary.

Play ranger or necro underwater, those classes are very strong. You easily can kill 5+ enemies.

It’s not terrible but IMO Rift’s is a lot more polished and easier to do, I find targeting in GW2 is sometimes a nightmare with camera issues in confined spaces, such as the underwater passage to get behind the waterfall in Metrica.

I love it in concept, it’s just woefully neglected.

I like the 360° combat and the lack of GTAE targetability. What it’d need however:

  • Balance pass, obviously.
  • All skills, assuming they lorewise make sense (looking at you, Flamethrower :P ) available underwater.
  • GTAE skills become PBAE ones.
  • GTAE-lines likewise become PBAE-lines, dropped right in front of the caster. Compare Mesmer Spear #4.
  • Pve Enemies more able to exploit 360° space, ranged enemies will actively position at different angles etc.
The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.
