TL:DR Space Robots Underwater (Not Actual Robots) – Run speed at all times even while in combat, New physical look that’s class specific along with a new swim animation. Only weapon skills and heal skill. Elite transform is bound to your elite slot.
This was thought up because right now some of the Revenant Legendary Stances don’t have underwater utilites. What if with the heroes being underwater we can duel weild water weapons at the cost of utility skills. To also make combat a bit different with this enhanced spec you now get a new swim animation based on class that swims and attacks at run speed. Yes, We’ll be attacking while continuously moving at run speed. This will hopefully make the combat faster and feel more like a dogfight/gundam like.
Picture the Revenant continuously going in and out of the mist while duel wielding spears. The Warriors becomes feral underwater, they grow larger and beast like and have duel wielding claw attacks. The ranger holds onto his new pet and either wields a new gun of some kind or a new melee weapon while the pet has bleeding and immobs.
Storywise I see this new elite coming from a request to help the Largos fight back the “horrors” in the Unending Oceans. Their Largos race is slowly being corrupted and becoming intensely aggressive, unstopable and incredibly agile. We would of course agree to help but throughout the journey we soon realize with the death of a beloved character, that our underwater items and training simply don’t work down here and with this new kind of enemy.
The Largos would then have a plan where we could find the one responsible for turning their Largos friends. We decide to make a final hail mary and try to kill him. This results in us slowly turning into these Elite Specs the good Largos too if you’d like. Rytlock while turning into his revenant form hears the fallen character from before, he awakens from his hold but still in the form. As soon as he decides to attack the room erupts with a flash and the voice of the character as you regain control of your character with this new combat system. Due to you not being completely transformed you aren’t as powerful meaning you’ll have to work with other players in the new maps. You can instantly switch in and out of the form from the get go.
The new maps will be about you seeing that despite the creatures death in the evil largos still fight meaning they are being controlled by someone greater. This would lead to culmination of fighting the deep sea dragon through a map wide underwater event tha finishes with the death of the deep sea dragon. This map could be locked until the event in the previous map has completed resulting in the current map occupants the option to try attacking the deep sea dragon. A yes would teleport the into the new map and no would keep them in this instance unless a new one is decided.
This Elite Spec is accessed in game by equiping it as a underwater elite and activating it underwater. An animation would happen as your physical form shifts. After a short delay you will have a new weapon skill bar, a pretty graphic over the utilities minus healing and the Elite slot would be a toggle and animated. I think we should be able to keep this from up forever until we get attacked. At that point if it was on a stance duration appears on your bar. This could be different if people like the new combat. This elite spec in terms of traits would have lines that were just choices between weapon skill buffs. Ones that are more condi, damage, or defensive. This would offer some unique underwater matchings in pve and pvp .
