Underwater combat: remove alternative weapons
I just want to get an exotic aqua breather with the right stat combos.
They are likely phasing out the “underwater world.”
It was a good concept but probably ran into “issues” and was dumped altogether.
Heck even some of the newer skins don’t have underwater versions.
Also the majority of content is on the surface including all of the current LS (last few releases as well)
At the least we can say underwater will be limited to exploration or just taken out (with an convoluted explanation).

I wish they get rid of them and let us just use our normal headgear instead.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I don’t know what’s so awful about underwater combat. I personally find it very refreshing from all the land combat. And so what if you have to use underwater weapons and skills? Isn’t some diversity better? I sure wouldn’t like the underwater combat to get removed just because some players don’t like it.
And how would you fight Bubbles, the water Elder Dragon if not underwater? Do you expect it to get washed on the shore by a huge tsunami?

A – Freakin’ – Men, Brotha (or Sista)!

Arctinus, I am not suggesting removing underwater combat. Just the alternative weapons.
I understand how frustrating underwater combat can be for some players, especially since most of the time the combat is on land. That’s why most people can’t even get used to their trident/spear/harpoon gun skills. Especially if you have many alts you occasionally play with. Not to mention you usually have to change your utility/elite skills. My guardian, for example, has only one underwater elite skill.
So maybe they should start working on improving underwater skills in such a way, that they would make most land skill available underwater. Make a map with mostly underwater combat where players can get used to their underwater weapons and skills. I don’t see a problem with switching weapons when underwater the same way as when you switch between your weapon sets or when you adjust your skills according to the situation.
I still can’t see swords, maces, torches, shields and so on, to be used instead of current underwater weapons. :P
Underwater just needs a separate trait set, allow us to use our normal headgear and allow us to use way more utility/weapon skills.
There’s no compelling reason why we can’t use most of the normal weapons. Speargun instead of rifle/pistol makes sense, but since we can swim at full speed in water, why can’t we swing the other weapons through it just as easily?
Just say that the water in Tyria is oxygenated enough to breathe like air.
Well, atleast they could salvage Polearms out of the Spear weapons for land use.
Spearguns? Dunno if they load them with arrows instead or something…
Well, if they get something, perhaps Daggers and some other weapons could be used underwater, but I dunno what else tho.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

I see npcs using land weapons underwater, so there’s no excuse we can’t :p

Might as well use torch xD
I like my Kraitkin & soon to be Frenzy…don’t want them removed.
But I would like underwater combat to have a little more attention. Probably will once Bubbles rises.
I wish they get rid of them and let us just use our normal headgear instead.
Thiiiis!

I like the underwater weapons/skills just fine. Trying to use an axe/sword/bow etc underwater would seem very strange to me. You do need to learn how the underwater weapons & skills work, but how is that different from figuring out how the different land weapons & skill work? Just more to learn. What’s wrong with that?
