I’ve had a good few unforgettable moments in GW2. Here are just two:

The children in Lion’s Arch pretending to be Destiny’s Edge heroes, unaware the the real Destiny’s Edge are meeting above in the plaza :-)

As a level 65 Charr thief exploring Queensdale, standing on the pipes at the bottom of the ridge watching newbies falling off from the pipe vista above: it’s raining men (and women)!

Love it!

What are you going to remember?

Not sure. Ask me in 6 months or 6+ years if I care=) The ONLY thing that stands out right now was one particular vista during the 1st or second week, way up on a wall that lots of people were trying to get to. Took an hour I think to figure it out. None of us wanted to cheat and look it up on Youtube I guess.

In Queensdale, there’s a cave that has a sign that warns adventurers to stay away. So I enter the cave, and there’s nothing but harmless grubs that won’t attack you unless you attack them. But in the middle of the cave was this idol that you can pick up. So I did and wouldn’t you know it there’s a gigantic troll running towards me.

So I run out of that cave still carrying this totem. I threw it at the troll, hoping it would leave me alone. Nope. It was hellbent on catching me and calling me dinner. But out in the open were other adventurers. They came in and helped me subdue this fiend. But we fought the troll near a farm, and this farm was suddenly under assault by bandits.

So we all fought, fought our hardest and mightiest. Around us were bandits and in front of us was a livid troll. We eventually killed them off and was victorious.

Most memorable moment. Ever.

Oooohhh. Tough question!

Probably for me, it was just a random battle with a bunch of Ettins. I was in way over my head and started spreading the damage around since I knew I was going down. Just as I go down from the first one, I battle back and pop back up – just to be knocked down by the second Ettin, which I fought back and popped up again.

This pattern repeated 6 times (thanks to the help of some friendly passerby’s. It was a random battle out in the middle of no where important, but it was a truly heart-pounding and memorable moment for me.

Keep the tales coming folks!

Doing the Dark reverie jumping puzzle. For those of you who don’t know, this jumping puzzle requires you to complete another jumping puzzle to reach it. Then when you get there, the zone is filled with veteran mobs. On top of that, there is this one jump near the end that is really, really hard to get. Needless to say, I fell to my death the first time i tried. Frustrated and trying to decide if I wanted to try again or not, to my luck a group of people showed up and resed me
One of the players had already done this puzzle before, so he, Mr. helpful (not his real ign) stayed below, soloing veteran mobs while the rest of us tried and tried again. Second time around I went first on the tough jump, fell, and then lmao’d when one after another bodies came raining down from the sky. But thankfully for all of us, M.r Helpful was still there to get us back up After another 5-6 tries, and another 5-6 reses by Mr. helpful, I finally made the jump and got my achievement. I sent Mr. Helpful 1g for resing my kitten so many times

The first time I fought the Fire Elemental in metrica province, it was epic to see everyone dying more than 3 or 4 times per person and I only died once, I went inside and kited the adds with the help of an engi (I was a necro atm).

Also in metrica province, my very first jumping puzzle (Goemm’s Lab), it was just amazing because my wife saw the cave while I was playing and asked me to go there… it took me like 1 hour to figure it out and another hour to actually execute it because I fell a lot of times but it was super fun.

One of my best moments so far was on BWE2, where I was playing as a ~15 elementalist in the human zone. It had been a really easy (and fun) levelling progression up to that point, because elementalist used to (maybe still does) faceroll anything and everything at low levels. Then I came across a bloody veteran that I just couldn’t faceroll. Then a random ranger popped in too, and the two of us together were still too weak. Then a warrior popped in as well, and all three of us were too weak.

We spent about half an hour trying to take that random veteran wasp thing down and finally managed it when a necro came along and started rezzing us as we went down mid-fight. It was awesome because we were just getting a chance to chat and try something hard.

For some reason this particular scripted chat in Lion’s Arch always cracks me up.

A little Asuran female kid walks up to a big Charr and says, “Your face is funny, all squished and weird.”

The Charr replies, “No, yours is funny, it’s like a little raisin.”

Just gets to me for some reason, lol.

My favorite moment in the game so far is when I was adventuring in Gendarran Fields [I believe] and I had walked by a town and the citizens were talking about how everything was well. I continued my adventure elsewhere when an event popped-up on my screen. I ran back to the town and when I got there I saw a giant Cyclops attacking the village with dozens of players fighting him off! I joined the battle and after tons of downings and ressurections we managed to take him down. The NPCs thanks and the player thanks made me feel part of a large community!

So far the most memorable experience (and my god there have been MANY lol) has been the change of scenery in the fields of ruin when i was just exploring and fighting random monsters and doing the dynamic events and seeing the branded region and storm in the distance. Man, was that intimidating from afar. Entering the branded region and just looking around was crazy enough, until i finally walked towards a branded charr and just watched it for a little and decided to attack it head on only to realize that behind the hill 3 other branded creatures including a veteran were waiting! Woo, what a battle lol

One of my favorite moments came after finishing an escort style DE into the middle of a swampy area. On the way back out, I noticed a flashing warning sign at the base of a mountain that read DANGER, as I walked up to it, naturally, I noticed another sign a little further up the mountain. Ooh! This looks exciting. I continued searching, finding sign after sign on my way up this mountain, building anticipation. “What could possibly require this much warning for adventurers? It must be something epic, I’m going to have my kitten handed to me!” I finally reach a clearing just below the summit of the mountain, and I notice the entrance to a cave tucked away behind a boulder. “This is it, moment of truth, adrenaline pumping, weapons at the ready!” I charged around the boulder and… There before me was the cutest little Asura you can imagine, completely surrounded by rabbits. I just about died laughing, because here I was prepped for a battle of epic proportions, and I discover this little nook hideaway belonging to a sweet little Asura with a very touching story about her rabbits. I sheathed my weapons and just sat next to her, enjoying the conversation and watching the rabbits hop around.

I love the moments this game provides.

In WvW, just making my way to where the fighting was. I run into an enemy and we start in on each other. We were really well matched, as in I was using every skill I had on my bars and so was he, hell of a fight.

Then he dodgerolls away from one of my attacks…And rolls right off a cliff we had drifted over to during the fight. A second later a loot bag pops up at my feet and I get exp for the kill.

One of my best game moments lead to one of my least forgettable moments… The favorite moment – I found one of the hidden jumping puzzles in Lion’s without even knowing there were hidden jumping puzzles. I just got curious about a light at the back of a cave and started investigating. That was the only “secret” I ever found in a game on my own, and I was quite thrilled.

So this lead to a terrible habit of jumping up on everything that looks like it might hold my weight. I was indulging my bad habit in Lion’s Arch and slipped. The fall was spectacular and I ended up as a Norn shaped stain in Mystic Plaza. Folks gathered around attempting to piece me back together and one asked “So… how did you die crafting?”. I was tempted to start a rumor about dangerous Mystic Forge recipes but resisted the urge

Hmm, there were several, though my memory is feeble.

*Much of WvW is incredible, really transcending in to a current-day classic from the moment you arrive.

*Once was watching the hyper real facial expressions on a mission cut-scene, when in dialogue; it rarely get as good from most of Hollywood.

*Another, when I saw the map ping red, turning around a massive avalanche was thundering from above, completely blocking the road, and being trapped slaughter ensued, would be a neat trick for WvW, /wink.

*Was just running my character through a high level area, and a massive artillery battle was under way, I mean ‘massive’, never seen anything quite like it in a real-time game environment, was as if I was in the middle of a scripted cut scene. Very surreal, yes, I kept running…

*Or the first open dungeon in charrville, with the three bosses in the crypt. After what seemed hours, we were all lol- ing “… was just a starter area event? wtf”

There were many others, but Excellent Work ArenaNet.

Most memorable moment so far for me was in sPvP. I was running with the repair kit and got a Warrior chasing after me. He’d use the sword’s charge ability, and I dodge out of the way at the last moment. I managed to repair the treb and exit from using it right as the guy started attacking me. We hacked at each other with our swords—my off-hand being warhorn, his shield—and managed to down each other at the same time with our bleeds. While in down state, we kept attacking each other until Vengeance became available. We both got up with the skill at the same time and continued attacking one another. Since neither one of us actually got the kill from the other, our Vengeance ran out and both of us died simulatneously.

‘Twas quite a fun battle that I had; sadly I can’t remember his name. =[

My best fight so far was the thunder troll in Sparkfly Swamp. Tried it solo: not a hope :-( Did some heart stuff and then went back. Two or three others had turned up and I joined in. We few, we happy few, spent about ten minutes slowly grinding him down. We kept our range, we did our thing: I poisoned and fired arrows from range, a mesmer(?) chained him down keeping him away from the rest of us. The team, which had come together by chance, worked as a good team should: we all fought to our strengths and there was real synergy. I felt a real sense of achievement in taking him down…. and then we went our separate ways.

My most memorable moment was:

When I was doing my personal storyline quest on claw island and Sieran bravely goes in to safe us all. She’s the bravest vegetable I’ve met! I wasn’t that interested in the storyline or felt that personally connected till that happened. Best bit in the whole storyline. After that I then continued and killed all the zombles extra hard as vengeance! R.I.P. Sieran!

To be honest I have so many memorable moments here’s a couple of non spoiler ones:

We we’re holding a jumping puzzle guild event where we just finished the Queensdale puzzle and making our way to Kessex Hills through the swamp to go to the puzzle there.

We ran into a escort event and decided to participate since it was going to the direction of the fort with the portal any way when suddenly the Meta event started so we spontaneously joined in and it was a lot of fun!

http://youtu.be/IcpxZ1OBlGM?hd=1

Another memorable moment was when we organised a Quaggan guild party in Lion’s Arch. We told everyone in the map to come to the Mystic forge where we were going to hold a party with a guild banquet, fireworks, funbox’s, booze etc. We also told them there would be a big surprise!

So we waited till a large crowd had gathered as we had promised a surprise. Then we counted down in guild and we all changed into Quaggans at the same time! As we popped the guild banquet etc. The party then really kicked off. I’m still working on putting the video of that night together but here’s two teaser screenshots:

The orphan’s storyline was my favorite in the game bar none.

My first unforgettable moment was back in BWE 2 my girlfriend and I were node hunting in Queensdale and saw a cluster of copper nodes. With a rich one inside a cave, trouble was it was filled with ettins. For reference, I was a p/p and s/d thief and she was a s/s and staff mesmer.

Getting in wasn’t to hard, but the aggro range was kind of scary, and they respawned rapidly. I forget if we ever got all the nodes, but we were fighting for a good ten minutes, getting downed and either getting the other back up or getting ourselves up through killing another ettin. We didn’t die once and it was some of the most intense fighting I’ve played in an online game up to that point. I think we learned so much about our classes and styles that we improved a great deal from before that encounter. People complain about it, and it’s not perfect, but I love my Flanking Strike skill

The first time I did the event chain in Metrica Province that leads to the giant Fire Elemental boss. I participated in the whole chain from beginning to end, and it took forever to kill the boss but eventually we got him down.

The funny thing was, after it was over some guy said “There’s another secret boss, follow me”. I honestly thought he was just trolling. But then… well, he wasn’t! We all followed him to the center of the building and got teleported up into a platform in the clouds to fight another boss.

I was just so impressed and amazed that there was a hidden boss in a hidden area. It was also just a really fun fight. My poor friend got knocked off the platform and fell to his death. After that experience, I knew that GW2 really was something special.
