Unhelpful allies in personal story
Well at least they suck a bit less than they used to? All they did previously was show up and die.
“Why won’t you help? I’m right here. Why…?”
I’ve seen players do exactly the same thing!
I feel your pain, been there a couple of times myself. But what I find more annoying (and this is not only true for PS but also meta events) is the crappy pathing npcs get. You know where they always double back just to make sure they are on the right track!
Oh and a certain someone (Trahearne and a few others) are REALLY bad for another thing. Being you have to literally stand side by side to them to get them moving or they just stand still looking at their feet or something……talk about breaking immersion when you have things blowing up around you and the music pumping out combat music lol…..
Mmm hmm. I was re-doing one of the HoT episodes last night where you escort an Itzel and Nuhoch back to their base. They do not escort well, constantly stopping and leaving you wondering where they are. According to the story, they are in a rush to warn the base.. doesn’t feel like it.
And then the leader waffles on for an aeon, blah blah this weaving post, blah blah that carving station. Seriously.
However there’s a HoT escort, Master at Arms Neary maybe, he walks to the very edge of the walkway and it really looks like he’s going to jump down / fly off but he stops dead and turns 90 degress and I’ve seen people fly off at that point assuming he’ll be joining them. That amuses me.
pve, raid, pvp, fractal, dungeon, world clearing, legendary questing.. Zapped!
I agree. I can understand allies not doing a lot of damage against enemies, so that we’re the ones who actually win the fight (both to stop people complaining that an NPC took the glory and so you can’t go afk and let them do it for you).
I can also understand some NPCs not fighting at all, if I remember correctly the hylek in that story isn’t a fighter, I think he’s actually a farmer.
But it does really frustrate me when NPCs, and especially your allies, don’t rez you. There is not reason either in the mechanics or the lore that they couldn’t or wouldn’t do it (except they haven’t been programmed to) and I don’t think it would make things too easy if they did, but it would be a lot more realistic.
(Also I disagree with the Order of Whispers, and especially Tybalt, being unsympathetic. He’s called Tybalt Leftpaw because he lost a hand, and the Order took him in after his warband kicked him out because they thought he couldn’t fight, then they spent years bringing him around to the idea that he could do fieldwork still.)
i have to admit though I do find it amusing that Rox seems to be the only member of DE 2.0 who goes out of her way to rez you, because I main a ranger and I can’t count the number of times I’ve felt like the only person in a big open-world fight who was taking the time to get the downed (not dead) people back up. Then they went and made us healers in HoT…should have seen it coming.

I take it as a necessary evil. Better than them getting stuck and bugging out their quests.
Honestly, I found it more irritating when practically the entire Destiny’s Edge was standing passively inside the Pact airship, fighting absolutely nothing, while I was on the gundeck, both killing dragon champions and the minions thrown aboard!

That was the point when I decided they were a bunch of arrogant pricks…
But I did figure out how to make them fight: just lure the foes into the cabin….
This is why I liked being Charr. The warband members actually did rez me when I was downed, and actively engaged in combat.
Unfortunately, then the storyline went kittens up once the Orders got introduced, the Warband gets disbanded, and everything starts to suck from there on out, and you never get the option to play with your warband again. (Seriously – the Charr elite skill “Warband Support” really needs to be replaced with the Personal Story warband members)
