Unidentified Dye in Black Lion Chests?

Unidentified Dye in Black Lion Chests?

Ok, while I must admit that I prefer a solitary unidentified dye to the previous alternative (mystery tonics… shudder), is this really what we’ve come to with the RNG and dyes that the only way I seem to get them anymore with any reliability is through a Black Lion Chest?

My first character, who started out on the headstart weekend, was swimming in unidentified dyes while leveling up. My most previous 80 probably found about 20 dyes through the leveling process. My newest character, purchased with gold -> gems during the character slot sale, has found maybe two dyes in the world and now these two from the chests.

Is it a wonder that I only open chests when I find a key in the world and have a solid stack of near 200 chests in the bank? Are people buying keys? Do people perceive value in Black Lion Chests? Is it possible that, going forward, there will also be more transparency in the contents of chests? Are unidentified dyes the new standard or are they a temporary placeholder for something? Will the loot table always be 1-1-1? Or possibly would you want to throw even more RNG into the mix and have a chance of items proccing like ectos (ie. a chance to receive one, two or three of a given item instead of always one)? Because the chance to receive three dyes sits better with me than a single, lone dye every time.

Guess I’ll hoard any keys I find for a while.

The RNG gods have read my post and took pity on me!

If I had just been getting extremely unlucky before I made that post, my apologies. But if not you have implemented some of my requests and I was much happier with the contents of the chest I’ve opened.

Two unidentified dyes were held within. And a stack of 25 Black Lion Mining Picks. Is this a new chest treat, or had these been in there before? Looking forward to trying them out on a rich ori node and see what we see.

The contents have been greatly improved! Thank you for listening.
