Uninstalling GW2

you will not lose anything by uninstalling the game.
EDIT: Most mmo companies will say in there terms that they have the right to delete your stuff after a certain period of inactivity. However no mmo ive ever heard of has done this.
Don’t worry about this stuff. It’s not client-side so you won’t lose anything but screenshots taken in-game and such.

Still running my old RRR build because why not
If you uninstall it, however, back it up. It’s a big download at 15gb, so save the program files gw2 directory on a backup drive or something can you reinstall it and replace it.
Basically all that’s on your computer is a program to connect you to the server. Your account, your guild and everything else is saved on Anet’s servers so you won’t loose any of it by uninstalling.
(This is also why you can go to a friends house, or an internet cafe or wherever, log into GW2 and play on your account.)

Why uninstall if you are just taking a break?
Okay, cool. Thanks.

@Ubung
Yeah, they usually just reserve these rights if they need to use them eventually. Like most companies also reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason, should they need to do so.
I’ve tried this before in other games to make myself focus, and I just end up breaking down and reinstalling before I intended to. What can I say? I’m weak.
Your better option is to just get one of those programs that locks your computer or certain programs down for a set period of time, so you can’t do anything frivolous when you need to focus on school. Have a friend or parent set it up so you can’t just turn it off at will.

I believe it’s called low willpower

Uninstalling the game has no effect on your account. Make the most of yours studies, then come back and see us when you have time. We’ll be here.
