Unlimited Gathering Tools on dead characters

Have you tried opening a ticket?
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
So, I bought a molten pick for my norn, who earlier this year I killed off in favour of a free character slot. RIP.
Before he slipped on into the mists, he left this pick in the bank as a fatal reminder of his legend. To this day it lays there, against the hammer space wall, dormant.
And I know, I know what ‘soulbound’ means. Since it’s bound to my dead character I won’t be able to drop it in any of my current character’s inventories. I just figured since now unlimi-gatherers are account bound, I can use it on other characters…?
I can’t, can I?Sad day for me
Get with customer service about that.
Ah, I just had a snoop-a-doodle around the forums for info on tickets. Thanks guys, I’ll give it a try!

Ha, I did the same.
I bought 2 molten picks, deleted the owners and put the tools in the bank waiting for something like this but for some reason, I needed the space and destroyed them.
However I’m not sure if Anet can help you in this case but good luck.

Same here, I deleted a character a couple of weeks ago but put the Molten Pick in the bank, just in case there will be a change of policy on the gathering tools.
It never occurred to me that I will have to carry the tool to an NPC, I assumed it would be a global change.
Not that I’m complaining, this change is brilliant, actually I’m quite happy with my other two account bound picks.
edit: nevermind, didn’t read.

If they are soul bound, can’t another character even put it into its inventory?

No, if it’s soul bound it can sit in the bank but you can’t put it in a bag of a character it isn’t soul bound to.
