Why can’t we give an elementalist a heavy armor skin for a battlemage motif? Or give a guardian light armor for a priest appearance? Or what about the community which often cites a lack of skin diversity for male scholars?

Would opening up skins of different armor types for all classes really be unfeasible? It was in the game originally as a cosmetic preview feature, after all.

In an fairly light-hearted game world where rat people are hoarders, manatee people are adorable puffballs, and frog-kind has adopted pre-Columbian culture… what would be wrong for the RP world if a mesmer suddenly wore a trench coat?

In my opinion, and in the opinion of those I have conferred with in the community, the unlocking of all armor skins for all classes would be a well received change. Obviously, this would not involve the actual armor stats. It also would not involve cultural sets.

Existing transmutation stones could be used or an upgraded transmutation stone could be added to the BLTC for an increased price.

This move could also lead to the formation of a thriving cosmetic blog community in GW2 akin to those that have formed in games such as LOTRO.

GW2 has such a focus on cosmetic customization and horizontal progression – why not expand it even further?

They’ve already stated the different armor weights use different meshes and simply won’t work cross-weight.

Thus to accomplish this they’d have to issue new armors for each weight that look styled to another weight. Which they could, and I’d be all for it, but it’s not as simple as toggling a permission.

I have no problem in giving some metalic pieces t light armor in a new gemstore armor set, or making heavy armor with cloth dominating. I already have a vision how they could make them work out but still be recognized as Light/Heavy armor… too bad others don’t share my vision in diversity
