Hi all, im a returning player and has just bought heart of thorns, im also planning on buying the upcomming expansion. Im curious however if i should spend my heropoints on unlocking the HoT elite class or if im better of waiting and save them for the new elite specialization in the upcomming expansion as i,ve noticed they seem to require tons of points to level up.

Keep in mind that HoT HPs are 10 points, whereas core Tyria are 1 point.

Hop on HP train in HoT and do all the HPs. You should end up with enough left over after unlocking your HoT elite spec that you can unlock the new spec. I’ve map completed all 4 HoT maps and I’m not sure if it’s 250 or 350 HPs that I’ve got left over on the one toon that has core map completion too. I know my other toons have ball-park 250 HPs left over.

Don’t worry about it. You will get receive more than enough HPs in PoF to unlock the elite specs there, so there is no need to “farm” or “save” HPs and not unlock any of the previous profession content.

If you have HoT now but haven’t gone down the elite paths yet, I would recommend gathering the HPs, but don’t spend them. Try the HoT elites in PvP where you can test each out and see what you like. If you find one you want to lock into and are ok with leaving it in place then go ahead. But can’t see gathering the HPs in HoT and Tyria as being a bad idea unless they completely scrap that idea on us, which I hope we will be able to tell come this upcoming beta weekend. So make sure you check that out then and that might help in your decision.

It doesn’t take long to unlock Elites. Like someone mention join an HP train.
