3 days of buying envelopes and lost money every time.

Would be easier to just sell on trading post.

So sell on the trading post?

I think I actually managed to make a slight profit. Make sure to sell the food on TP

Broken RNG John. Simple as that. Some win consistently, but most lose, I have a negative outlier account (which Anet could fix) so I always lose.

This is why you wait a few days until the price drops; sell some for highest prices before messing with them.

The past couple of years I could reliably get a jackpot vendor item every few days at least, so my gold only rose. This year, even buying a few extras on the TP, I’ve gotten not one jackpot of any sort.

RNG is a meanie pants.

Best way is don’t open them yet. Save them til the event ends. Then get as many magic find boosts, go to the silverwastes and kill the Vinewrath. Then open.

If you had the option to sell them on the trading post, it would suggest you already had them in your posession, so you wouldnt need to buy them in the first place.

Remember to get as high a magic find as possible before opening them. With some food, guild buff, booster, oil, firecrackers, amulet with 20 infusion, and heading to the the silverwates i get 600+, head of people getting to 900. my base is 243 atm… the higher the better consistency you’ll have with getting rare items. I do alright overall, always make a slight profit at min. per 16 opened. I tend just to wait a few days to gather them all up so i don’t waste my boosters and such as well. hope that helps, good luck.

Broken? It works exactly as intended: it’s a lotto ticket, with people losing on average. Turns out, you can do much better with high magic find (see posts on Reddit documenting how much better).

Mostly, you can buy for 1g and sell on the TP for 10-40 silver more than that 1g + any fees.

Sorry, but as an outlier account, it is broken for me. (and at 288 MF and growing).

Started with 3g, kept buying envelopes and selling etc. Ended up with 13g.
I like this event has always been break even, or get a little extra coin for me.

I’ve made money on most days but I’m opening them with 320+% magic find. Earlier I got it over 450% due to banners and a bonfire. Worse loss was 4 silver.

That doesn’t sound like an outlier situation — that sounds like you are getting what is expected from “only” 300 MF. Sell your envelopes at 1g40 to 1g50 and buy the stuff you really want; that’s less trouble and more profitable for nearly everyone.

They make me quite a lot of money at an effective 765% magic find.
