So far, I’m enjoying the posts about the upcoming patches and release in April. I just wanted to take the time to say thank you to ArenaNet for their hard work, and point out what I’m thankful for.
1) Thanks for keeping Guild Wars 1 going. I don’t log in too often, but I’m glad it is there, so I can take the time once in a while to log in and walk around. You didn’t have to keep it going, but you did, and for that, thank you.
2) Thank you for the Living Story. It was a grand experiment, and while it was not perfect, I enjoyed a lot of it, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you have planned in the future. I know some people are asking for an expansion, I’m one of them as well, but the Living Story was a nice switch and added something to the game which I was able to get involved with.
2a) Thank you, by the way, for adding accomplishments for the Living Story to our Dailies. At the beginning of the Living Stories, it felt too much like trying to get the meta achievement was a bit of a slog, but by adding them to Dailies, and adding them in such a way that anyone could accomplish them, I felt like I was accomplishing things, and got to be a part of the Living Story. Much appreciated.
2b) As an aside, thank you for making Dailies be ‘choose your own adventure’. I originally ignored Dailies because it required things I had no interest in. When you opened it up for people to choose what Dailies to do, I had much more fun, and have taken the time (sometimes) to do 6-7 Dailies instead of the required 5. Good job there.
3) Thank you for looking ahead. I’m quite happy about the dyes being account-wide rather than character specific. This is something I’d hoped you would do for quite some time, and finally getting the chance to see this makes me smile. I’ve been trying to get every colour onto my character, and this will make my job much easier. For my family members who also play, this is going to be a tremendous boon.
4) Thank you for making armour and weapon skins account wide. I had not even thought of this as a possibility, but that is something I’m really looking forward to. It is going to be nice to try out new combinations and seeing what they look like without having to scroll through the Black Lion Store, and having the chance to see how my character will look in a variety of outfits is nice.
4a) Thank you for making outfits a part of armour. Some costumes are quite fun to wear, and being able to run around in PvE in these outfits is going to be a blast. This was unexpected, but quite welcomed.
5) Thank you for unlocking traits. I’ve not bothered to look at different builds simply because I didn’t want to pay to get my traits unlocked. If I changed the equipment I used for the character, I just accepted that my traits would not necessarily ‘match’ the type of build I’d be using. This will give me the opportunity to try out new designs, and see what best suits the style of play I’m currently going for. Much appreciated!
6) Unbinding gear. I hadn’t expected to see high-end equipment become account bound, but I’m quite happy that this will be a thing. Admittedly, I don’t have a lot of ascended equipment, but those I do have, it will be nice to see them be able to be passed around, even if it has been used.
7) Thank you for adding the ability to see when guild members have last logged in. This is something I’ve wanted for quite some time. I can finally see which guild members to remove.
Overall – you guys have been awesome. I’m looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us in the future.
