Simple question about this, i used lots of transmutation crystals to get a desired look on my exotic gear(on 4 character to be exact), so when the ascendant gear is realised will i need to buy them all over again? Cuz if thats the case, in my view i wasted money getting them for exotic gear.
In the early game you do get some transmutation stones, but I believe the only way to get transmutation crystals (required for level 80 gear) is from the Trading Post.
no i have got crystals as rewards, from BLC too, if they dont drop from personal story anymore id like to know when that changed, you get them on zone completion too, at least i did sometimes.

Besides, nothing in the game requires it (beyond the ar).
I think the biggest concern was among the WvW community. But as we see now you can get the trinkets and backs by other means, not just grinding fractals.
I dunno about you but I have been in large and small clashes in WvW with characters at cap and characters rising to. The experience doesn’t change a whole lot because I threw on some exotics and some ascended items. Trust me, it’s cutthroat up here playing for SoR.

Actually, no. I am one of those players and I didn’t leave yet. I don’t like the gear treadmill but figure it hasn’t reached the point of no return… yet.
I wish they would make ascended gear similar to what they’ll do with legendaries. To be able to switch the stats of ascended gear. I doubt anet will do this, especially not for free, but maybe if you have to pay a small amount of silver/gold or X% of the materials needed to craft the item, wouldn’t it be fine? PvPers can easily try out as many builds as they want, why can’t PvE players do the same? This system is lacking for those who run multiple builds in PvE, I mean, you can’t even save your traits…..
Doing this would also help players with lot of alts. Since ascended gear is so time-gated, I think being able to switch stats would be fine.

No, they said they were rethinking their stance on vertical progression or something. Where are you guys getting its happening? Some patch notes I haven’t seen? If they are going to have entire sets of ascended gear for laurels, they need to increase the amount you get from dailies/monthly by 3x at least imo. Not everyone wants to run fractals to progress and the current rate is already very slow even just for a jewelry.

Ah, well as long as the “time gating” isn’t that harsh, and the mats aren’t like mini legendary weapons, I would be alright with this approach.

The point being if they thought it was going to cost them more for including ascended gear than they will benefit from it they would have simply not implement it.
Anyways, the point being that the majority of the players whining about ascended gear already moved on and or that Arenanet has decided that they are not worth their efforts.
Clearly their design principles have changed from guild wars 1 to reflect a much bigger game and simply holding out hope for a non existent crowd is bad business.

I don’t think so. Arenanet has never given any indication that they backed down they actually have been increasing the ways to get ascended stuff.
Unfortunately, based on the fact that arenanet is going full speed into ascended armor they figured all those people that were against ascended gear either moved on or went to a non existent mmorpg that isn’t gear dependent.
