Upcoming Skill and Trait Changes
Umm, gw1 max gear were all the same stats but with different looks, are you talking about switching up the runes?
What does gw1 max gear have to do with anything? It’s a tangent on his main point.
How many players are going to have to go find new gear if suddenly the stat requirements for their preferred build change?
1. Why were Necromancers given fire, when Rangers still have little more than crappy bleeds?
2. Torment. I’m all for adding new stuff, but this is just wrong for a game that spruiks it’s lack of a trinity. Since most builds can only heal themselves once every 30-ish seconds, a Condition that removes what is, effectively, their primary means of damage mitigation is a bad move. But that’s nothing compared to the storm that’s coming to the forums. Of all the classes to give Torment to, it was Mesmers and thieves? REALLY?? Mobility is the only defence many builds have against Thieves and Mesmers will now be able to damage us when we use a skill and when we move, which of course means we have to stand there and take it… which would be good if GW2 had tanks.
If anyone should have a new Condition named Torment, regardless of what it does, it’s Necromancers. The mechanics of Torment also fit the Ranger perfectly since it is an age-old hunting technique to injure something and then chase it until it dies of exhaustion.
EDIT: Now that I think of it, Torment should have been a Death Shroud exclusive Condition.

Torment is troubling. If classes like Thieves take damage when they try to dodge, they are going to die fast.
i forsee a storm of “nerf the mesmer already” especially from people that never played one!

No i’m talking about that they nerfed pretty much all farming builds and gears.
I used to play necro as main in gw1 also at start it was really great than the last expansion whit the hall of monuments till than I enjoyed the game after that they start nerfing and overbalancing pretty much every farming build, the way you had to run dungeon introduced npc for hire etc…
And for those who played necro it was really hard to get into teams, you had to prove yourself worhty as necro not like a monk or a warrior… anyway i had good times but still don’t want this to happen twice.
In the end i had just for farming to change every chars his gear pretty much around every update… after another update i just pressed del on the GW1 map…
In the end i was so tired of it i just runned a ritualist build on my necro at least that worked still descent
specially since all my builds in gw2 are pretty much not using grandmaster traits and my armor is calculated to get the stats I want based on power output (or cond dmg) and survival and team benifits and the possibility to switch skills according to the place i am in a dungeon, and any char I game is really liked in teams… and i don’t feel the need going to the calculations all over again, changing the gear again… specially not the ascended once
The thing is most people run full berserker or full knight, etc
i calculate my runes and armor to which stats I need to do specific tasks ingame and most of the times i tested around 5 to 8 diferent setups etc wich takes a lot of time and gold to do that, so if Anet also starts messing this up than bassicly all the gaming houres to get my chars where they are know are totally wasted.

A) they nerfed pretty much each build in GW1 making you change everything you ever farmed for.
B) I hope none, but that depend on the changes they make, for example on my buff gaurdian if they mess up the trait-line and they place one i use from the major to grandmaster traitline i need to get new gear…
And i’m pretty much 100% sure that there are more poeple like me.
And i really don’t feel also to be forced to go grandmaster traitline for one trait i use.
Or worse they delete it…
If you would think about you’re build and how the traits interact which each other and how the gear and skills interact whit the team you run whit than you will understand that messing whit the trait lines and moving stuff around there can have a huge impact on gear stats etc… (at least if you care about running descent builds)

That depends on how the thieve his setup is, i really like the thieve they form a challenge to play whit and a thief has good skills and traits to get rid of conditions.
My gf is also gaming thief and she has a crit build good luck killing her she doesn’t do 10k dmg like the glass canons that die instantly but she hits around 3k dmg and survive pretty much anything you trow at here and in dungeons its really funny to see here ignore the death gaurdian or warriors or any class and just go on.
Thiefs is a really nice class they combine power and a challenge to play i like the thief most of all there really fun and if you handle the correctly you would be surprised what they can survive.

yep en the thing is if enough people complain anet gives in eventually… same like the powerbuilds on neco’s…
that’s why I’m worried about the upcoming changes
you remember the thread about condition balancing they announced
everybody complained not to do it so how do they do it now in sneaky way hey people you get a new condition dmg and you get acces to fire dmg…
let me see i now hit per sec whit my necro 4k dmg so whit fire dmg that goes up to 4,5k dmg making me stronger so where are they going to compensate? there telling they don’t want to make players stronger and stronger… so there going to present you something and than nerf something else at the same time…
specially whit the trait lines, like i don’t use the power trait line on my necro and I don’t use grandmaster traits.. i don’t need them but if i suddenly need them my entire build is nerfed… since than i have to compensate whit other stuff i also need. and if your gear is also fixed on the specific build you run… than your screwed and can start all over till the next balancing and than again and again till you press delete on the gw map…

Thieves can remove conditions (especially human thieves), reduce the duration of conditions using certain food/buffs, cure conditions with stealth, and mitigate the damage through other ways.
As a thief, I honestly am not going to worry.

Rangers already have access to every single condition currently in the game.

I should have been more specific. Rangers are supposedly the “masters of ranged combat”. They’re not. Ranger bows, which should be their gimmick weapon, have bleeds and weakness. And everyone (okay, except for Guardians) is throwing bleeds out every other second which makes it almost useless when there’s more than two people fighting the same target.
I think that each class should have a selection of specific Conditions available only to them, depending on traits and weapon selection. That would go a HUGE way towards build diversity and while they might not fix the issues with Condition stacking they would alleviate the issue immensely.
