Am I the only one hoping Fractal Changes either remove completely the Agony mechanic or make Ascended gear less of a grind?

Yeah I have always hated the agony crap myself.

I personally thought they completely removed the ascended boxes. Haven’t gotten a drop for over a month now.

That would be in line with their vision of the game as being one of the most rewardless mmos ever created for the time you spend in it.

Maybe this patch will bring an end to this 3 year beta test and they are ready to launch a live none bug filled broken game that people will come back to play.

ANet, if possible would recommend going big with the patch notes for this update. The tendency is to touch upon the core bullet points and then leave the rest for people to find. Since you are heading in a new release cycle don’t follow that pattern. Give the players base more details so that they can better appreciate the time you spent and they are left with the feeling that quarterly updates are large scale development cycles that they should be excited for. Overtime some of the best QoL changes have been things that didn’t even appear in notes but people really appreciated. Don’t short change yourself. I know programmers are not always the best at documenting (they would prefer to be creating versus noting things) but more notes the better.

Just 2 cents. Good gaming!

You missed the whole point the OP was trying to get at, he asked that they actually do a detailed patch notes rather than a more bullet pointed one like normal.
But based on Gaile’s post they will being doing a chat on reddit I assume so that players can get that extra detail behind the changes.

Delight us with new content, sure. Not knowing that something was fixed or a new QoL option was added, not so much. Also helps to ID bugs or create less false alarms when people think something is bugged because it not behaves differently.

Plus notes help players disseminate information in game faster as well and give them a reference point to assist others.

2016 April update and somehow y’all are expecting Anet to not put the screws to the community. I’ll be back with my popcorn to witness the general fallout for the next month.

PLEASE Anet do something Auric sand that is locked behind the meta-event Octovine. Having a scarce resource locked behind a meta-event that hardly is being done plain sucks.

I found it pretty easy to get into successful Octovines but I haven’t done it in a while. Part of me wonders if this is a Megaserver issue and not an event issue. Either way, hopefully it’s fixed soon.

This is actually some excellent advice. Hopefully they are listening.

Now is definitely not the time to be coy about expressing their intentions behind whatever changes they are making. I think that if they make a real attempt to explain what is happening and why, it will help make players feel more “in the loop”, so to speak.

It’s much easier to have a positive discussion about a particular change if, right from the start, you can weed out the plethora of angry posts that were based on incorrect assumptions.

Could you please just put the alpine back without kittening it up with the stupid HoT crap?
If you actually payed attention to what the wvw players were requesting you would realize we are tired of the broken kitten you introduced. No kittening banners, tactivators, or auto upgrades. Just give us our dammed map back.

+1 for that aswell

Hi all,

Two weeks ago we polled the WvW community about Desert versus Alpine borderlands. The majority of players asked us to bring Alpine back. We’ll do that. It actually takes quite a bit of time to dust off old content and bring it up to the current game state, so it won’t happen in time for the quarterly release. Instead we’ll launch the quarterly update with improvements to Desert, use that as an opportunity to get the community’s feedback on those changes, then we’ll swap to Alpine when it’s ready. Changing borderlands maps like this will disrupt matches in progress, but we think that making changes on live servers, where everyone can test, is worth the cost.

I wanted to give this early heads-up about these areas. You already know quite a bit more about the things we’re working on for the April Quarterly Update, but I’ll stop here for now. I think our jobs are to delight you with what we ship, not with big talk or big promises. So hang tight. Release day will be here soon enough.

Half-Expansion-Mike

Originally, eotm was made to test features to add in to WvW. Any plans of putting things in eotm in alpine?

I like the shortbow changes you guys made there Anet. Gotta get people liking that weapon more now that it’s one of the only legendaries y’all are delivering on huh? Same with that damage stacking trick thieves can do if they spam SB 5 with the new trait tweak. Hmmmm
